Stevie's hosin' up the works here...
In an interview with the UK newspaper The Daily Telegraph (8/9/07), Nicks noted that she is unwilling to carry on with the band unless Christine McVie returns.

I'm puzzled, since this has been brought up here on The Ledge before:

whatever.:shrug::shrug:
Christine won't carry on so if there will be a FM, it'll be a threepiece rockoutfit. Who's complaining?

Yeah I remember saying that months ago that Stevie was holding up the Fleetwood Mac thing...that she didnt wanna do it anymore. Someone said "whatever" and I was kinda like ok well...and then i just read that little blurb. So yeah I did miss those posts I reckon.

Yeah but I dont see Lindsey doing it without Stevie. Maybe a Lindsey/Christine lineup? I find it really strange that the collective 4-some cant convince Christine to do a final album/tour.

There will be advantages... Those who will be interested enough to go to see them wouldn't have problems to get seats in the first rows. ;)

Well if Stevie really doesnt want to do it, then I'd rather her not. If she's not into it, then her performances will be more lackluster than they were on the SYW tour.

No. I think it's inevitable.

You must not have seen any of the early SYW shows then! Stevie was very much on fire and rocking! I saw FM 3 times that tour... Greenville, South Carolina; Greensboro, North Carolina; and my hometown... Charlotte, North Carolina. I admit with every time I saw the band, the more "phoned in" and robotic Stevie's performances got. The show in Greenville blew my socks off though. It was one of their first 10 shows on the tour, and they rocked harder than I've ever heard them. Stevie hit the higher notes and twirled her ass off. Just think of it this way... almost every night for a year and a half they had to play the same songs... the same main songs they've been playing for the past 30 years. I can't say I blame Stevie for losing her "oomph" towards the end.
Regarding another Mac reunion: in my opinion, they absolutely will get together again in some form or fashion. A studio album with the Rumours 5 is possible, but not terribly likely. They just don't make that much money off albums, and Stevie says she won't record again without Christine. They make all their money off touring, but Christine says she won't tour again. So the options are this:
1) a final Rumours 5 album
2) a final tour with John, Stevie, Lindsey, and Mick
They aren't going to do anything without Stevie, that's been a proven way for them to fail miserably. So does all of this open up the gates for an ORIGINAL Fleetwood Mac outing with Peter Green? Nope, that won't bring in the bucks that Stevie brings. We've gotta face it, this band is no longer about art... it's about money, past debt, supporting the various members spouses and children, etc.

Well I saw em in June 2003, Sept 2003 and May 2004. Thank God they brought "Sara" into the setlist, otherwise Stevie's stuff would've just been altogether dull. She just acted like she was there doing lip service to the band. Not that I dont love Stevie though...
I think yer sort of wrong about the "money" thing. If that was true, then what was Lindsey fighting so hard for to release SYW as a double CD? And front his own money to do so?

I never saw them but I have read so many reviews the past few months. It seems that everyone conveniently forgets the woman was going through menopause during that time. It was horrible on her - she discussed it in several interviews, so I'm sure a new tour she would be good to go. From what I've read of the CV tour, she's been great.
As far as the money vs. art - it's a hard call now. I could see Stevie's dilemma on the DR doc. She understood Lindsey's art side but she's also the one reminding him of his family and new house. I have to question myself how will artists make any money in the future off albums? I hate to think of never having another FM album because I agreed with Lindsey - I think they are making the best music of their career. It has matured with them and there's a lot to be said for that. IMO.

A three piece? There might be three band members, but they'll have a keyboardist, another guitarist, a percussionists, and you can bet they'll shell out for backing vocalists who can handle the girls' parts. A trio it ain't!

I was at the OPENING NIGHT of the tour (and, oddly, the closing night of the tour, as well as gig somewhere in between) and she might as well not have shown up at that first show. It was all Lindsey and John.
