I'm not sure if anyone over here has been following my Mom's situation. But I wanted to let everyone know that we've decided that we're going to sue. Long story short, she had a BAD stroke in May of 2006. She was put in a Respiratory Care Unit of the Hospital for one month, following brain surgery - while there, she received 2 very serious bedsores. It's as if she was stabbed very deeply, twice, after having a serious stroke. Well, she's in a different Hospital now - a year and a half post-stroke - with very serious hip infections which, thank God, are getting better. But we just learned today that her tailbone has been "totally destroyed" by the infection. That's not something one would wish for in a recovering stroke victim who will be trying to learn to walk again. We gave them a chance to go through their Internal Review Process and come up with a reasonable solution so that it doesn't happen again. But, frankly, they chose to lie about it and try to point the finger at the Care Center she was discharged into. (We have records which prove pretty conclusively that it was the Hospital's fault.) And now this. Well, that's the last straw. They're gonna have to learn the hard way, I guess.

I'm sorry, very sorry to hear that. I can say this, that suing will probably only cause more headache and grief...and in the end it wont really change anything, except possible help you guys out. But if the money is any consolation then go for it. Especially if the money can be used to care for your mother and make her life better!
