Don't pay any attention to those newspaper critics!! It was fab:blob1:
Yes, ok, the acting/dialogue was a bit dire from everyone ( and I've always had a moral issue with Sandy , having to turn into some sort of vampy tramp in order to get her man..haha...but thats just me!!!) but the songs and esp Danny's (as Danny) dancing was really excellent, and Susan's (Sandy) singing was even better, what an amazing voice, she has. A super night out, go and catch it if you can. Pip, I hope you can get down here to see it, def worth the effort.

Hmm...sounds interesting Savage. Has anyone seen it on Broadway? The critics were a bit scathing of that one too, I believe. BTW, it was a full house when we went, so the public obviously liked it, despite the reviews.

Hey Pip, yes, do come with your daughter, when we went (it was a 5pm matinee), there was loads of young people , all around 10 or so (some even younger than that) and they had a great time! I'm not sure about some of the language subject content for little ones (there's no swearing , but it broachs pregnancy and stuff), but I think that washed over most of their heads and they were enthralled by the dancing/colours, songs etc. I think I missed most of it myself actually, I was too busy looking at Danny and Susan to pay much attention to the story!!
Good fun though.

Do they perform the songs that were only in the movie & not in the stage play?

I think they did all the movie ones and I know they did "those magic changes" which I can't remember if it was in the movie or not, but it was absolutely hilarious (being situated in the boys locker room/showers, we were treated to 3 guys in very skimpy towels branding loofers and gel....) Got a huge amount of applause as did Teen angel and "beauty school dropout" which was also brilliant...oh, just remembered they did "mooning" and another about crying at the school dance or something (everybody goes to the dance competition, but Sandy stays at home alone apparantly)

I saw Grease in Broadway, circa 1994.. (Rossie O'Donnel played Rizzo) It was cool, not big deal but I liked it, maybe it was because I already saw the movie and it really touched me, so the play didn't. But it was enough to start liking Broadway (and London) shows and I love to watch them any time I go to NYC. My next show would be Hairspray, if I have the opportunity to travel again to NYC.

Yikes!!! I read recently, that there's thought of a Grease movie remake with Michelle Peiffer doing something and Jessica Simpson reprising Olivia's role..GAWD help us!! why don't they just leave good movies ALONE.

Yikes indeed! I wish they would leave these films alone. I also read recently that they're talking about remaking the Wizard of Oz!

OK well as much as I loved watching D&S in Grease, I also really like these two.I don't understand a single word, but hey, goes to show, that music is the universal language...enjoy (give it a few secs to get going)
