When I click on a thread there is nothing there.

I know. I'm trying to update the vbulletin database to get all of our posts back. Hopefully, the problem will be corrected some time Friday morning.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Weird though that we can see this thread and not any others.
Thanks for the update

well, I can see other threads that were started after the update, so maybe it's only older threads.
or..."older" meaning before the updates started

Hi everyone.
I'm still working with technical support to figure out what the problem is.
Marty told me he'd never seen anything like this happen before. Of course, I wanted to do new things with the site, but this is not what I had in mind:]
Sorry.

I wondered the same thing when I came over to lurk around...Definitely some weird issue going on.
Also, I never received a message that my paid membership had expired yesterday..."Isnt that weird?"

I guess if worse comes to worse, I can restore a back up, which means that we would still lose some posts, but at least we'd have most of them, but hopefully it won't come to that.
I can now repair thread tables, when I couldn't access that function last night. However, I am holding off on doing that because Marty said that he would this evening and it would be better for, um, the fate of the world, if he did it.
I'm starting a redesign next week, which will not only change the look of some things but it will make updates easier for me to implement. Once that's in place, I'll handle content myself, but I'll have also have website maintenance to manage the site's technical operation and hopefully there won't be any more crises like the current one.
In the meantime, in the immortal words of David Soul:
Don't give up on us baby. We can still come through . . .

Well, I'd hoped that the old threads were still there, but were unreadable for some reason. However, that's not the case. They were deleted, probably during a database repair. As a result, Marty's efforts to repair the threads and update the thread counters were unavailing.
We'll use a database backup to restore the old files. That should recover most of the posts, but there will probably be some that are missing, between the time of the last backup and yesterday, after the posts disappeared. That may create a hardship in those threads where you guys were posting information to share, like demos. I'm sorry for that loss.
Hopefully things will be mostly back to normal shortly.

Ok guys, what probably happened is that a database repair I did on Thursday did not complete. The threads constituted the biggest file and when the repair was aborted, those were what was lost.
Not only was Marty helping me during his work hours yesterday, but he is going to take time away from his family this weekend to finish the job. If all goes well, posts should be recovered up to October 8. So, the ones gone will be October 9-11.
Anyway, starting this week, I will not be acting alone again. Much like Peter Green, I will have a conservator. So, things like this will be averted. I can't say the private messaging problem won't recur though, but losing thousands of threads for the first time in 12 years shouldn't happen again.

Unfortunatly, it isn't. The problem is still there. Still can't read a lot of threads. Good luck working on it.

Aside from the gap of a few days that Michele mentioned above, the old posts have just now been restored. If you notice anything irregular, please report it in this thread. Thanks.
