Can anyone help me out with ideas for a Halloween dress up ? I'm all out of inspiration. :( Sofar i've been : an oridinary witch (iow my normal self haha), Morticia Addams and Magenta from the Rocky Horror Picture show (with Otto dressed as Riff Raff).

Lily Munster i could do as i've already got the wig  She does resemble Morticia Addams a bit does'nt she ?
i've also thought of what's her name from Bewitched. I've been trying to learn how to "wiggle" my nose but without much result sofar

My 8 year old is going as a Geisha girl. I think it's pretty original, myself.

It's pretty common actually, even more common since the film Memoirs of a Geisha came out.

Strange that an 8 year old is dressing up as a prostitute.

WTF? Your 6th post and you're being ****ty to someone who is really sweet and has been here a lot longer than you? Probably not a great way to start off...

Back off. Just calling it like it is. I was posting about Geisha's and how I am shocked an 8 year old is dressing like one. It has nothing to do about how sweet and how long someone has been here.

^It has to do with the fact that you are unnecessarily acting like a jerk to Maria. And I actually don't think most people would associate Geishas with prostitution. Especially other 8 year old trick-or-treaters. But, w/e.

Oh, btw, the way you used "Geisha's" in your post does not require an apostrophe.

Suzy - I gather you want to go as something scary. as for originality, that's gonna be pretty difficult if you have limits as to what you want to wear or how you want to look. besides, it's difficult as it is to be original so I wouldn't worry too much about being original, just do something fun. what about a vampiress or something like this (which I think is awesome):

I would have loved that myself at that age. All the make-up and your hair in a bun and all of that being allowed by your parents :blob2:

Over here, Halloween has been coming "into fashion" for the past 3 or 4 years, but we try to dress up in ghosts, goolies, witches, vampires and so on.
Anything that's creepy will do !

No, you made it sound "jerky" as that is how you perceived it. I was just stating the simple facts, jerk or not. And another thing, I wish it was my first post and not my 6th. WTF? I suppose if I had thousands of posts, it would make it all right?

Bottom line: Ignorance doesn't excuse poor taste.

Anyway, this place blows. Don't bother replying as I am never coming back here. I've been reading all these threads since I started and I realize how silly this place is and not a place to speak your mind without getting hostility and grief. Not necessarily with posts from me (yours is the first), but I've read it all over this place. It's kind of pathetic.

so i am guessing we can count you out on the supporting membership drive?

and just for the record - i think this Is a place where one has to be able to explain their positions and just not spout garbage and expect people to eat it.
You can call that 'hostile and grief' but i would disagree with you -

except that you made your blanket statement and ran away, so what's the point.

Thank you baby. :xoxo:

Actually, she does know what a Geisha is. I had to explain it to her. haha!
And, I went as a prostitute when I was in 4th grade. How bad of a hypocrite can I really be, especially since I was in fishnets and a short skirt? :o At least her gown will cover her completly.

http://marian.creighton.edu/~marian-w/academics/english/japan/geisha/geisharole.html

Geisha women maintain many different relationships with men. They are not prostitutes. It is appropriate for geisha to have a patron (danna), whom she is involved with emotionally, economically, and sexually, however it is up to the geisha whether she wants one or not.

I was just about to say this. it's a common misunderstanding re: Geisha women.

God damn it...where is page three of this thread? Stupid broken Ledge. *kicks it*

Have you guys seen or heard of the Anna Rexia costume that is new for this year? It's a long black one peice top for women with a measuring tape belt. Seeing as how it comes in plus sizes, it's obviously a joke. Of course people are foaming at the mouth about it but given my stance as an equal opportunity offender...I love it.

We went and bought Samantha's costume today. She is going as Marliyn Monroe, with the white dress. I can't wait to see them and have a picture of them taken. I'll be sure to post.
