Oh man....during the SYW tour my friend and I went to 6 concerts -- and let me tell ya, each show there were at least a few freaky things that happened each time. REmember when FM played at the Coors Amphitheatre in 2004 and that wacko jumped on stage and put his arm around Stevie and Lindsey? THen, you saw this flash ....and the guy disappear....that flash was one of FM's ENORMOUS security guards. THat guy was flattened, and rightfully so! Also at that same concert my friend and I had 2 guys behind us promise to "protect us" as there were some crazed fans screaming at Stevie and pushing to get to the stage.....they were absolutely ramming those of us in front who paid through the A$$ for our seats (we did the $500/ticket w/tour package -- still can't believe we forked out that much $!!!)....come hell or high water, we weren't budging! There was also a chick who was strung out on something pretty potent who was trying to climb the stage....she was all sweaty and her eyes were bugging out....thankfully, once again, the wonderful guards at Coor's took care of her.

Hippy/shaman chick dripping in amber and crystals was doing an aura reading or something the entire show. I really dig the bohemian hippy look but this chick looked more like a crazed bag lady who needed a deep conditioner and introduced to a paddel brush. She just waved her arms in the air like she was at a baptist revival and murmured all trancey like. Wow lady..do what you do, but damn at least sway to the beat. She seemed unaware of the awesome music and fabulousness going on right in front of her, too busy cleansing aura's I guess.
You just wanna say we aren't all Crazy Stevie, I swear. Just because I wept when I heard Sara live and spend way to much time on the Ledge doesn't mean anything. I'm completely normal!!! Really!
If you wanna talk drunk and disorderly I got a million of them of course that is not exclusive to Stevie fans.

i remember going to the stevie show on june 15th and there were people two rows away from us and they had a fight throwing drinks all over and they were sent out but they let them back in for stevie's part of the show. i wouldn't have let them back in for the show.

TISL tour, first show in Grand Rapids, Michigan. There was a lady in an empty section that was right off to the right of the stage where you wouldn't be able to see the show very well. She was the only one sitting there and she was dancing like a freak through the whole show. Dancing up and down the aisles!! We laughed our asses off!!

most embarrassing behavior by an OBVIOUS Stevie fan at a concert:
Where do I begin? The Stevie fans at the shows who do obnoxious things are completely witless, but the guy who yelled DAVID BOWIE during Stevie's opening vocal on Sara on the 7.30.83 audience recording was a brilliant, witty guy. It was obviously an in-reference to the US Festival, in addition to whatever else it was, & it brought an almost theatrical levity to the moment.
I've seen fans do too many idiotic things at the Stevie concerts to be able to recall a specific example. Most of the time, in my experience, it was just a lot of hamfisted yelling & catcalling, or getting into fights (like the two sets of lesbians who pummeled one another through an entire portion of the set at the 1991 show at Concord Pavilion).

There were empty seats on the left side of the stage 2nd balcony where someone was going back and forth through the empty seats waving their hands back and forth and dancing and the whole nine yards. It was hilarious

I have to say there was some art in the guy who did that.

OH OH OH! I have another example...it was more enfuriating than embarrassing, but here we go: my friend Kim and I attended a FM concert at the Staples Center in LA back in 2003. The asswipes behind us (we had 5th row, center, aisle seats), a couple who really wasn't much older than Kim and I (I had just turned 20 and Kim was 24) started screaming at us when we stood up and bopped along to the music.....which EVERYONE else around us was doing. Well, the dipwads expected Kim and I to sit down since their seats were directly behind us .... we just ignored them. THey got up out of their seats and came over to me since I was on the aisle, and freaked out and started screaming in my face about how they didn't want to stand up and they paid a lot of $ for their seats and we were ruining the show for them...and if we didn't do what they wanted, they would "get us kicked out." SUUUURE.....so....I first said to them both "we each paid $250 for our ticket" (through brokers, of course) and that we weren't going to sit down...it was a concert after all. Well, they got even more pissed. My friend is has a ton of ink on her....she had a huge butterfly on her chest, half sleeves on both arms, etc., and the chick behind us started screaming at Kim about her tattoos and how Kim was trashy....blah blah blah. Kim and I ignored them and continued to enjoy the music. Then, the dude that had screamed in my face only about ten minutes before, grabbed me by my arm and threatened us, once again. Well, guess who saw? STEVIE! She just stared....and watched it all unfold...it was awful. I was so caught off guard by the guy grabbing my arm that I could do is just stand there with my mouth hanging open. Well, after he let go I ran over to this MASSIVE security guard and told him what happened and he went over and ripped both the guy and his gf a new one and told them Kim & I weren't doing anything wrong....thankfully they both left not long after their warning to leave us alone. Soon thereafter Kim & I saw an opportunity to get up to the third row, which required us to hop over some seats. Kim had on chunky heels and I had on boots.....I didn't have any trouble getting over the seats, but Kim did....Stevie saw Kim try to hop over the 4th row seats and smack her head on the back of a 3rd row seat...and one of her shoes fly off. The really awesome guard nearby just chucked Kim's shoe over her shoulder and Kim put it back on. LOL....what a fiasco......

At the Nassau Coliseum (Uniondale, NY) stop of the '87 'Shake The Cage' tour, some guy near me kept shouting out "CRYSTALLLLLLL". It was really annoying, but I had sort of forgotten about it until about a year later when I got a cassette boot of the same show, and what comes though loud and clear? "CRYSTALLLLLL!!" I guess the taper was seated in my section or he had a really good 'Walkman' (hey, this was 1987).

Well, there have been many since I first started seeing Stevie and the Mac, but probably the worst was in Toronto, CA 1987 (Tango).
While Squeeze (the opener) was playing, the girls sitting next to me squeezed in the row to their seats. I knew the one next to me was trashed beyond repair. Not 1 song into the show, she vomits gallons on the head of the innocent girl in front of her.
I felt sooo bad for that girl. Obviously, the drunk ones next to me split and never came back. The girl who got puked on had to go to the bathroom and wash everything. She came back soaked. Wet clothes, wet hair, etc. Quite a trooper. She somehow managed to make the best of it.
I would have been in jail for killing the drunk chick.

Was that the same concert that the people behind us were mad because we were standing and they were throwing popcorn at you? I guess that is better than being puked on like the girl from the other post.
It is amazing how many people get SO trashed at concerts...
What is the point? You wouldn't remember any of it, so why not
stay home, and save the rest of us the annoyance!
Loved reading your stories, I can just picture this happening.
I remember reading in a fanzine back in the 1990s, how this group of
obsessed fans were determined to get up front for Edge, and how they
:took down: anyone that got in their way, with their platform boots,
I was thinking, I would have just knocked these stupid B****** out if
they would have come stompin and kicking by me, from their cheap seats.
UGH.
I can just see a group of women in KMart shawls stomping up there,
LOLOLOLOL...security would be like, oh God, what is this supposed to be?

Nothing is "wrong" with KMart shawls,
what IS wrong is their attitude, of "we are gonna stomp anybody down
who gets in our way", which I think is really tacky.
The KMart shawls is just a guess of where they bought
what I saw pics of them wearing, could have been WalMart.
What they were wearing really doesn't matter, I was just
describing that from the photos they posted.
I have met some of these people at shows, and their
attitude is quite annoying, as are they.

"nothing is "wrong" with them?" it didn't seem that way at all. I have several shawls from kmart and there IS nothing wrong with them. I just don't even understand why that came into the equation at all. I would rather have a cheap kmart shawl than one from a person who would look down on me for buying kmart  :sorry:
but I agree about the annoying attitude. that shouldn't be allowed and people need to chill their roll. Have a good time and stop getting wasted where others can't even enjoy the show.

I am sorry I offended you, Michelle, that was not my intent.
I am sure KMart's shawls are fine, I haven't seen them, I don't look down
on anyone who shops at KMart or WalMart, etc. so I shouldn't have even
stated what they were wearing, it was just the attitude that they thought they
were "it" in their little outfits, and that is what I meant, their attitude sucked.
I shouldn't have worded it like that, as their costumes don't matter, and
again, I am sorry.
Forgive me?
but I agree about the annoying attitude. that shouldn't be allowed and people need to chill their roll. Have a good time and stop getting wasted where others can't even enjoy the show.

Well, I apologize to you, too, then Kathy.
I really didn't mean anything against KMart or it's items.
I just worded it poorly, and that is MY fault.
I mean the girls were B****** and thought they
were better than everyone because they had a little shawl on.
SORRY KMART and anyone who shops there!

But I laughed alot reading your post, sorry you had to endure that.
Anyway I was at the Concord show where the guy hung himself in the parking lot over his girlfriend who was at the show that night. To say that it put a damper on the show is an understatement. Plus i did not find out until years later why he did it, I had always thought that he was a Stevie fanatic.

The Xena war cry, that just cracked me up, I can just picture/hear that.
Kind of like that noise in the "Rock Lobster" song, which always makes me laugh...
However, at a concert, that would NOT be humourous...LOL...

During the manchester (UK) show on the SYW tour (04/12/03 I think), Mick had just started playing the drums for Tusk when an argument between 3 men started in about the 5th row. Stevie and Lindsey were watching this develop and saw it was getting worse so didn't begin the song properly, when all of a sudden one of the men punched the other and completely layed into him, at which point Mick stopped playing and Stevie shouted 'How dare u fight during our concert!' and Lindsey screamed at them to get out! It was pretty funny (not for the man being beaten up tho, I think he was the innocent party in all this) and when Tusk did finally begin, Stevie's anger was apparent in how aggressively she thrashed her tambourine! As the 2 idiots were leaving they started putting their fingers up at Lindsey!

I guess I remember in 1998 at Lakewood in Arlanta, there was this REALLY tall drag queen..And he was standing right behind me and my son and he twirled and twirled..Then there was a tap on my shoulder and he wanted to know if my son (who was like 10 at the time and small for his age) wanted to get on his shoulders so he could see Stevie and shake her hand at the edge walk..So my son looked at me and said "its cool mom dont worry"..So he climbed up..You can actually see him in the Atlanta 98 video if you watch for him..Just as Stevie comes the edge of the crowd at the far left of the stage, you can see a little boy on someone's shoulders and we can see him grab Stevie's dress and shake it..That is my son..That is my only weird story..But if we pay money to see Stevie, we should be able to dress like we want and enjoy ourselves..I did do that one time in the 90s but it was SOOOOOOOOOO FRICKEN hot I almost burned up in the lacy dress and boots..It was like june in Georgia..Very humid..I will never do that again but it was fun the one time..Bear Sheppard dresses up every time I see her at an Atlanta show..And I also do not understand spending that much money to see Stevie or Fleetwood and just get drunk..What is the point??..People do that at the races too..I want to remember seeing Stevie

This typifies what I consider obnoxious behavior: The guy who screams "Sing to me Stevie" a few times in the beginning of the Las Vegas B&tB 2005 video. It really bugs me, and creeps me out, for some reason. It's this attitude of "even though I'm in a room with thousands of people watching a performance by a singer and a band, it's still, really, when it all comes down to it, all about me"

I've been to more than one show where a guy yells, "I'm your beast. I'm your beast," during B & B. Since it's a quiet song, that behavior is disruptive, while only the people around you can hear those things during a fast song.

lol i have a few experiences to share.
i went to the Enchanted tour at the Star lake Amphitheater in Burgettstown near Pittsburgh around 1998. I was 20 and during Edge I got to the front but somehow got sucked up in the crowd and as Stevie moved down the stage to shake hands everybody started moving that direction as well and before you knew it a fight broke out and somehow i got an elbow to the face. i was so pissed but then as i saw stevie pass by (it was my first time seeing her that close) i no longer cared but it was crazy trying to get out of that mess after the show. if you were claustrophobic that was not the place to be -ha!
my hubby and i went to see Fleetwood Mac in Toronto I think in 2003 for the SYW tour and at this one point Lindsey was talking to people in the 1st row and i was in the 2nd row so my hubby was like get up there and get your ticket signed. so i jumped over the chair in front of me and ran up there with a kid that was to the right of me and we got our tickets signed. on my way back to my seat the lady and her family in the front row who thought they owned the freaking place grabbed me by the arm and started yelling at me like a crazy person. i still to this day dont get what i did she could have walked right up there anytime she wanted and got an autograph. i didnt smack her or anything so not sure what her deal was but then again maybe it was because i was like 25 and she was in her 50's. beats me but she was a total biatch!
the last bad experience i had was for the Stevie Tour with Rod Stewart in Pittsburgh a few years ago. the show started and my sister and i were in the middle section of the front floor one row from the last and this guy and his wife flipped out when we started standing it was crazy. we just ignored them and they guy grabbed my sister to try and force her to sit down and she flipped out and then got security. they said something to them and that was it. so we sat for a bit and then during gold dust woman we got up again and they poured my sister's pop all over my chair so it got all over my white pants and my feet. i got security again and was flipping out on them at this point and they told them about it but that was it. it took about 15 minutes to clean it up and i was livid and wanted to kill somebody but wanted to have fun since it was the first time my sister got to see stevie. we stood the rest of stevie's set just to piss those jack wagons off even more because if they didnt want to stand they should not have got floor seats. that is my biggest pet peeve when people are yelling at others to sit down.
last year when i saw FM again in Pittsburgh I got 3rd row which ended up being 1st row since they let the first 5 rows rush the stage and it was funny because this older couple in their 60's or so also had front row center and they flipped out when everybody went to the stage. what i coudnt figure out is that nobody was in front of them so they had a perfect view. they argued with security for about 10 minutes and then they were bitching about people standing and once they realized there was nothing they could do they decided to stand the entire time and it looked like they had a blast. that show was so awesome though because i had a 10 foot area on stevie's side with nobody around me so i was able to dance around and do whatever the hell i wanted. lol there were a group of younger girls in their early 20's in the 3rd row who were so smashed they didnt even know where they were and at some point the one blonde went over to security and was trying to get back stage but was shut down so freaking hard it was hysterical. then she went back to her seat and was doing hick kicks for a while and almost took out my husband. at some point during the show security came over to her friends and told them that they were going to kick her out if she didnt calm down and then she just sat there the rest of the show with her eyes like glazed over. you know that look somebody gets when they just arent there well that was her. it was hilarious though and the rowdiest crowd i have ever seen for FM in my life.

I love the girls that dress like her. I used to well before 97. That tapered off as I got older. Mostly at Mac shows it just seemed kind of rude. I didn't want to be on LB's side looking like "team Stevie." Now I'll just dress more in homage to her as opposed to LIKE her. If that makes any sense.
Also the term of "obvious fans" seems loose here. I think the obvious ones ARE the ones that dress like her and can be found in the first few rows. The ones that take the time and effort to pay to be close and pay to don the attire. The general obnoxious masses that I have dealt with are far from obvious fans, but (take for example) Vegas high roller comped assholes. The absolute worst! At a SN/Isaak show in bf Egypt (WAY So Cal-can never recall location) lots of "family of the casino tribe" were being obnoxious for obnoxious sake because they could. Not a effing one of them had paid row 1-20, but by SN's set had migrated to the stage, and literally elbowed people out of the way and got in front. It was a horrible push fest. I was AGAINST the stage, and they were prying people away. LOTS of fighting. Never had I been so pissed and wanting to leave a show as that one! I got into it w/ one and was told "his people" would kick my ass. Of that I had no doubt, so said I'd wait for them. Go ahead and leave to go get them. He didn't bite, but we had a fowl language tennis match and ugh-total nightmare.
Others think they are plain entitled. "I'm a HUGE fan" and found their way up front but weren't there 20 min ago and just make for a hellish time. I'm all for making a run for it if you can get to the stage, but you know what-cramp another persons style that paid to be there, or rushed before you and got a spot or piss off.
Drunkards at SN/LB or Mac shows should just be shot on site. The end.

I hope im remembering correctly, back in 2011 when Stevie performed at the Riverstage in Brisbane. Which is an outdoor venue, it had roughly 15 rows of seating at the front of the stage with an elevated standing area behind that.. I had bought a 5th row seat, and was so excited to see Stevie solo for the first time..
There were 2 opening acts one being Dave Stewart's band, the audience enjoyed hearing a few Eurhythmics tunes everyone was up on their feet dancing and having a great time.. After his set, he joined Stevie's band starting with Stand Back the crowd erupted with excitement, everyone in the seated area was up dancing again then just before half way through the first song, we were all getting yelled at to sit down by security.. A few tried to ignore the abusive security people, but they were told if they didn't sit down they will be kicked out immediately.. We all felt soooo unhappy, actually really pi##ed off and totally shocked that we had no choice but to sit for the entire show :distress::(:( actually it was REALLY embarrassing, in Stevie's eyes we must of looked like total dorks sitting there like stunned mullets lol.. .. at that stage Stevie had no clue what was going on...
A little further into the show, 2 young girls in front row stood up to dance when a couple of security jerks pounced & physically pushed both girls down into their seats directly below Waddy and Dave.. Rhiannon had just finished, Stevie was about to say something when this older guy next to me timed this perfectly, he stood up through his arms in the air as if to say STOP, he yelled out to Stevie WHAT JUST HAPPENEND IS SO WRONG & PATHITIC, WE ARE HERE TO HAVE A GOOD TIME & ITS NOT RIGHT TO HAVE BEEN TOLD BY SECURITY TO STAY SEATED  you could of heard a pin drop.. then Stevie answered by saying she is sorry that they will not allow you all to stand, & she would hate to see anyone get into anymore trouble so unfortunately if this is their rules, we did not know this.. Then she said something like, well im kinda relieved as i thought you all hated my songs, then mentioned something about seat dancing
When Edge of 17 started we all broke the rules, rushed the stage & got our handshake at the end.. I ended up in front of her mic, for the last 2 songs:blob2:..
Sorry for the long story:o

LOL. No doubt. I was just like what happened to the concept of all chilling & bonding at a show? I wondered if they did this w/ all performers at this venue. Total nightmare.

I'd like to add my little concert story in. My first concert was the Wild Heart tour at the Civic Arena back when I was 13. My best friend ( who was a huge Tom Petty fan - good thing) and I went by ourselves. We were so psyched. But halfway through the concert in the very very dark arena, some dude (I suspect it was a male, but who knows) must have tried chewing tobacco for the first time and hated it - because all of a sudden this chewing tobacco with its cloyingly sweet smell came raining down over us and completely covered our hair and clothes! So goes my very first concert experience!

This sounds pretty mild compared to some, but one that springs to mind for me was Chicago a few years ago at a Stevie solo show. At the end, we all rushed up to the stage as usual for Edge. There was a small speaker on the stage in front of the girl next to me, and she reached up and shoved it in front on me so it wasn't blocking her view, but mine. I reached up and shoved it right back, and held it there. Luckily I was stronger than she was, because she spent the rest of the song trying to shove it back in front of me. I endured her pushing me as well. Tough luck, sister, you chose that spot - deal with it!
Another was a drunken girl who tried to climb on her chair, grabbed my shoulder when she started to teeter, then fell on me when she was unsuccessful at regaining her balance. She was rather heavy which made it worse, but to her credit, she did apologize. It was during "Landslide" which added to the obnoxiousness of it.
My worst was actually a Lindsey fan. We were all standing at the stage at one of his solo shows, and she had brought a huge banner that said "I have wanted to f--k you for years" or something like that. It was so big that she had to have other people help her hold it up. She was standing next to me and tried to enlist my help. I refused because I didn't want Lindsey to think I had anything to do with that lame sign, which didn't endear me to her, but it got worse...
I endured her holding up the sign even though it blocked views until Lindsey saw it and acknowledged it. I figured she would be happy with his nod and put the sign down, but I guess that wasn't enough for her; even after he acknowledged it, she would jerk it back up and holler "I want to f--k you" every time he came to our side of the stage.
Finally, I'd had enough. I grabbed the corner of her sign and jerked it down, then held it there when she tried to jerk it back up. Of course, she was enraged. She hollered obscenities at me and threatened to beat me up, but I just ignored her. She weighed a lot more but was middle aged; I was sure I could fend off her drunken blows if it came down to that, not to mention security was nearby. As she continued jerking on it, it ripped and fell to the ground. I mashed it underneath my foot. I continued to ignore her raging and she was all talk about beating me up, so once she exhausted herself and moved to another spot, I had a very nice concert experience.

Holy crap-PURE CLASS w/ the LB sign holder. Wow. Have enough of your pals with you to fulfill your insanity or piss off. Why others want to engage you in their delusions is beyond me. What would I like from others around me at a show. Have a great time. Be cool. Leave ahole behavior at home. Ugh, and the rain of chewing tobacco. UGH YUCKY. lol

You know, I think some people just go for the crowd and some people actually care enough to watch and listen and participate. But to me, it seems an awful waste of a lot of money to just go to something and get so blitzed that you don't remember it. I would think people would be better off just going to a bar or staying home and watching an old concert on YouTube and get stoned there.

Sounds like you have to be in top fighting shape to attend these concerts.

You'd be surprised at the power of pure determination! I remember at Jazz Fest after I'd waited all day in the hot sun at the front of the public area, someone behind me tried to push me aside to get my spot. They were using their backpack like a battering ram to get people to move. I didn't budge no matter how hard that backpack hit me. My response: "The only way you're getting me to move is if you have a shotgun in that backpack!"

I can say DRUNKS tops my list of idiots at concerts. They ruin the show for everybody.
I love seeing the girls dressed up like Stevie.Yummy.LOL....
Stevie can do with out the idiots that run up on the stage.
Screaming is a norm at any concert but its annoying in the quiet passage of her songs and when she is talking to her audience .Its darn rude.

I agree with all the above.... At least Fleetwood Mac concerts are not as crazy. Stevie's shows always seem to bring out some real interesting caracters.

This thread is 7 years old, but still relevant today!
For me, spilling beer is the worst. I think drinking of any kind should be banned inside the seating area. I once placed my Street Angel tour books on the ground underneath my seat and they were drenched by the first few minutes of the show. I also witnessed someone hurling beer at another person who was standing and dancing.
I'm perfectly content with watching shows on YouTube these days. Thank goodness for tapers

I remember at a Stevie show in Atlantic City, there was this "two beers for the price of one" deal and tons of people were getting two cups of beer and bringing them to the seats. Of course, that meant that the extra beer got put on the floor....
So many of those cups of beers spilled or were knocked over that the floor was absolutely running with streams of beer, and anything anyone put on the ground was saturated.

I'll never forget this one- I was at the Raleigh, NC Enchanted tour show with my best friend Katie and my parents. I was 16 years old at the time; my parents went along with me because they too loved Stevie, plus the concert was out of town for me, and I'd just gotten my license that week.
Anyway- there was a guy standing behind us, he was probably in his early 30s. He showed up DRUNK and only got drunker with his beer intake. He had binoculars and started loudly commenting on what he'd do to Stevie (sexually). So while Stevie was singing the likes of Garbo, this dude was yelling at the top of his lungs saying: "I'd *!%# you so good Stevie! Like you've never been !*%#ed before!" Me being a teenager with a girl friend & parents in tow, it was pretty awful.
