That's right, it's the thread to discuss all the new & returning shows you're excited about this coming season! That being said, I'm not thrilled this year for some reason. I know, shocking, the TV whore doesn't care. But I don't all that much.
I meant to watch Gossip Girl last night, but Mark was watching History channel & I didn't feel like leaving the room to watch another TV. Same with Kid Nation.
Pushing Daisies is getting rave reviews. I may give that one a try. Same with the family saga starring Jimmy Smits (is it called Cane or did I make that up?)
Returning shows I'll watch again are Medium, Ghost Whisperer, Supernatural, Heroes...what the hell else do I watch? :p I can't even remember. The comedies, I still like Christine (which I hear will be a midseason replacement :( ) and Scrubs. 30 Rock is alwasy good, so is Earl & The Office. OH! Almost forgot Grey's - I'll probably check out Private Practice too, but I don't have my hopes up. Oh, and Brothers & Sisters is a great show.
I'm watching the Biggest Loser too. Waiting for Project Runway. Anyone know if there will be a new Amazing Race? I usually don't watch Survivor, but I may have to check it out - it's in China this year. Might be interesting.

Project Runway

Grey's Anatomy
CSI Las Vegas
Friday Night Lights
Dexter
The Office
Desperate Housewives
Yeah, that's about it. I'm not even going to bother with Private Practice, the double episode feature on Grey's bored me to tears. I might check out Weeds also, my sister says it's right up my dirty little alley.

Let's see...
Medium (once the NFL season is over)
Ghost Whisperer
My Name Is Earl
The Office (well, since 30 Rock is sandwiched in between those two, I'll be watching that, too. Scrubs has "jumped the shark" for me. I guess I've watched too many syndicated reruns that I'm burnt out on the show...even if they're new episodes...we dropped ER off our watch list about three seasons ago. Just lost interest; the plot was going nowhere)
Numbers
Bones
House
Nip/Tuck
CSI (the orig)
Las Vegas (a former neighbor of mine is an extra on the show since its inception...in last season's finale, he finally got a line. He's gotten lines in four of the first six episodes of this coming season...maybe if the show lasts a few more seasons, he might even finally get to "character" status.)
Dancing With The Stars
And, I always enjoy a new season of America's Funniest Home Videos.
Also, we never tire of South Park or Reno 911
If we HAD Showtime (which we don't), we'd be watching Dexter, since we just happened to catch the entire first season last year when we were in Denver awaiting the birth of our grandson. (the hotel where we stayed for those three weeks had Showtime. And, in that time, they showed reruns of the entire first season building up to the finale just before Christmas). We also got hooked on Sleeper Cell during that trip, too...but apparently, two seasons is all it lasted.

My DVR has been lonely this summer and just waiting to record all the shows I don't have time to watch. So, come say December I will usually have about 5 episodes of each of my favorites to try to catch up on. I haven't paid much attention to the new stuff but always try to catch:
ER
The Office
Grey's Anatomy
Desperate Housewives
Law and Order ( I can watch any of them)
CSI (except New York if it's even still on)
Brothers and Sisters (Sally Field deserved the Emmy for this!)
The L Word (it's really a good show. Please bring back Marina!)
plus all the trash I love on Bravo and TLC

Not too much to add, I couldn't possibly watch that many shows.
But - I happened to watch Gossip Girl, and it was pretty lame, yet somewhat compelling. The thing is, the main girl is supposed to be all rad and awesome and have intangible star like qualities - everyone is talking about her like she is the second coming - but the actress isn't really that special. In fact, her face has an Ellen Barkin vibe, which would be cool if she was Ellen Barkin, who is hot and rad, but this girl isn't. She just doesn't have quite that much charisma.
To her credit, her face isn't as twisty and weird as Barkin's, so it kind of evens out. Also? This "highschool" girl has deeper lines around her mouth then I do. Also, she was sipping martinis at some hotel. Sure, it's possible - but my point is that she looks way older than she is supposed to be. The rest of the cast fares better, looking young wise, but the story lines and action seem more as if this were a group of 26 year olds, overall.
Except, inexplicably, for the parents of these people, who are super hot, and time defyingly young to have kids this age. This one kid, he was supposed to be 17, and his dad was super hot, and looked about 32. The dad looked so young, and was so cute, and had such good jewelry and feathery/floppy preppysurfermusician hair, that I was actually confused about the plotline for a few minutes. Then I laughed. Of course the dad was a musician/surfer/poor guy. Thus, the drama - there's this one poor family (allegedly) in New York, and the kids go to a rich school, cause they are so smart and on scholarship, and the rich cool girl (Ellen Barkinfacsimile) is going to date the poor son, who is so nice, compared to her rich boyfriends (der) and the rich girl's mom already dated the hot surfer poor dad a long time ago, back in the day, when they were hippies and free, until she bagged a rich husband, and now she wants him to "stay away from me, I have a new life, even though we are both totally hot" because she is rich now and doesn't want any super hot previous lover guy who seems to be a California surfer to ruin her New York society shizz. Even though she was poor with him before. and so it goes.
Like "Tell your son to stay away from my almost hot, Barkinesque daughter!!! I don't want her dating a poor guy who is really nice! I want her to date rich asshole guy!!"
Same old stupid shizz.
Still and all, it is lame. You might want to watch, but in a night time soap kind of way, where everyone is attractive, wears great clothes, never has to work, and is really glamorous. Except when they are non charismatic and Barkinesque. The girl's old best friend who is bitchy is pretty good. I'm biased cause she looks a bit like me. But innyways, supposedly the golden girl's old best friend has been dating one (gay) guy since kindergarten, but this guy actually has fallen in love with Barkinfacsimile, but is trying to deny it, cause his parents asked him to, and his girlfriend had a hissy about it.
So there is this tension b/c between the best friends, the boyfriend likes the other best friend that he shouldn't like. I feel I have to add that said coveted boyfriend is pretty lame. Unless you are gay. Like, I can't imagine them really being pissed off about this guy.
I, personally, will watch to see how they overcome the fact that the whole special girl of the show isn't really that special. Maybe that is the point, she is supposed to be "nice" and "down to earth" despite being rich. She's going to date the non rich boy with the hot dad, which will indicate how deep she is.
She may be deep and nice, but she is not especially exciting to watch on screen. She's like a girl who would be cool in real life, but on TV is boring. I will also watch to see if they can overcome the horrible cliched writing that this show boasts.
In other news, there is this weird half asian rich asshole kind of guy who is interesting. You know, because he is a debauched asshole? But cute? He's like the almost rapist, or the rapist. And he is all the rich kids' friend, because he parties, and has the drugs, and is cruelly yet cleverly shallow, or whatever. Of course he knows some big "secret" of the Barkinesque girl that he is trying to blackmail her with. Either way, he seems like the best, most compelling actor.
It's like a big remake of the movie Cruel Intentions. Or the South Park episode: "South Park in Aspen!". For real.
Okay, but really, the show is stupid. It is exactly a night time soap. I might watch for the clothes...
Let's remember that I don't have cable.
Also, L&O SVU rules.

Fall TV yay. I never watched a lot of TV through high school, but once I got to College there really isn't anything else to do on the week nights. My friends and I just sit in our friends room and watch her giant plasma screen TV. Lets see..
The Office (I just bought the 3rd season on DVD because I missed most of it. I love sifting through the episodes. Its so fun to buy a season and just watch it from beginning to end. We have to watch it all before next season starts!!).
South Park (Of course)
House
Thats it.

What, nobody cares to see Caveman?
I just remembered another new show I may check out - Journeyman. Something about time travel.
I watched Survivor last night (first time I've seen it since the very first season :p )I thought sure Ashley would go, but I'm glad Chicken did - he was annoying as hell. Ashley looks like someone beat her down since her Playboy shoot. I know, she's out in the middle of nowhere, but geez.

Sundays and Thursdays have typically been my designated TV nights. But the Wednesday line-up looks appealing right now, so I might scale happy hour back that night and order in sushi instead. :)
Here's what I'm looking forward to...
Sundays:
60 Minutes (CBS) -- the benchmark on all news shows and still the best.
Desperate Housewives (ABC) -- campy and fun. there's a gay couple on wysteria lane this season. and is edie britt REALLY dead? cant wait to find out!
Brothers & Sisters (ABC)-- favorite show of last season. good writing, excellent cast and a very gay storyline kept me watching. season two looks even better.
Wednesdays:
Pushing Daisies (ABC) -- new show. looks quirky. Im gonna give it a shot.
Gossip Girl (WC) -- I liked the pilot. the name alone makes me love it.
Dirty Sexy Money (ABC) -- new show with a lot of buzz. great cast. looks like a lot of fun.
Thursdays:
Ugly Betty (ABC) -- such a fabulous show. hard to find an hour more enjoyable to watch on television. its so well done. love everything about this show.
Grey's Anatomy (ABC) -- im hooked. i need to know what george is gonna do. seriously. and now that burke is gone, whats gonna happen with yang? and now that addison has her own show (which I wont watch) will mcsteamy go back to wherever he came from? the drama will continue and I will be watching.
I'm burnt out on reality shows, but if and when a new Amazing Race comes back, I will watch that. Other than that, as far as reality shows go, I will wait until July for Big Brother to return. I DVR Oprah and The View every day (I see you) and kind of fast forward through them on the weekends. Another show that I'm looking forward to is the return of Nip/Tuck.

I still watch lots of reality TV...and I still have the damned Thursday nite dilemma...I'll have to watch Ugly Betty on the computer, or wait for the reruns.
My evenings look something like this:
Sunday: 60 Minutes, The Simpsons, Family Guy, Desperate Housewives, Tell Me You Love Me (if you haven't seen it yet, watch the first episode, you'll be hooked!), Curb Your Enthusiasm, Rock of Love (thank goodness this skank fest is almost over...to make room for...I Love New York, Part 2!). :blob2:
Monday - The Bachelor (he owns bars and restaurants in Austin, and he can't find a woman in this town? Pffft. Well, maybe he only meets party girls that he can't take seriously. Anyway, desperate, pathetic women + alcohol + cat claws = good, old fashioned, trainwreck TV).
The Hills
Tuesday - I don't know?? Isn't this usually Nip/Tuck night? I can't wait!!
Wednesday - American's Next Top Model
Gossip Girls - I liked the pilot enough to keep me around another week.
I'll give Dirty Sexy Money a shot too. Plus, it's got Nate, from Six Feet Under. :xoxo:
South Park
The Real World - I've seen all of 'em. I can't quit it.
Thursday (see comment above): Earl, The Office, 30 Rock, Survivor, ER. Can't record Ugly Betty while I'm watching Survivor and recording Earl/30 Rock. And I like those shows slightly more than Ugly Betty, so, they win.
Friday: Friday Night Lights. On Fridays. Where it belongs. If you've been following Perez Hilton, then you know John Mayer is dating Minka Kelly (Lila Garrity) and they've been spotted smooching all over town.
Real Time with Bill Maher. Love him, he always has great guests, and "New Rules" always makes me lmao.
Saturday: College football, SNL, Mad TV
And I still record/watch the Young & the Restless every day. :o

I love, LOVE House and I am eagerly anticipating tonight's premiere.
I watched Dancing With The Stars for the first time last night and was somewhat intrigued. Since Dolly is on tonight I'll watch it again- maybe I'll stick with it this season.
I did enjoy Kid Nation in spite of the heinous reviews.
And I think I may be interested in that Journeyman time traveling one.

I'm glad BB8 is over. It's bad enough I watch as much TV as I do, but 3 hours/week for a show I can't ff through ANY of, for fear of missing something, is just too much. I feel compelled to mention that I rarely watch "live" tv anymore I DVR everything. I even purposely delay watching something until 10-15 min. after it's started, so I'm watching and recording at the same time, and I'm able to ff thru commercials. Oh, and I've got a treadmill in my living room. I'm not always vegging on the couch. :D

It's terrible. Right after they tell the girl she shouldn't wear bubble skirts, Webb walks in with one on. And she didn't look any better. And they're mean - telling a 5' tall size 0 that something isn't flattering & makes her look "wide." Yeah, that won't give young girls a complex. Whatever.
Journeyman was really good on Monday, I'll keep watching. Heroes will keep me hooked throughout the season. Grey's premiere was so f*cking ridiculous I could barely stop rolling my eyes. My once favorite show is still a joke, it seems. Pity.
Still watching Side Order of Life on Lifetime (Carrie - tell me you caught the ep. when they played Patty's Heavenly Day) and Damages on FX - shouldn't these be over by now? I have network shows to watch, dammit!

The only show I watched last year enough to know what the hell was going on was Brothers and Sisters... Very good show, really liked that one, looking forward to the season opener.

^ Loved the Brothers & Sisters premiere. Kitty & Nora arguing in the dress shop was hilarious. I was all happy & excited when the other sister & her husband did it, then sick & angry when he implied he wants a divorce. F*cker.
Watched Pushing Daisies last night. At first, I wasn't sure, but I ended up loving it. Love the premise, love the quirky characters. Cool & original.
Gossip Girl is OK, but it's still not blowing me away (like Popular did a few years back - now THAT was a great show.) I may ditch it.
Thank God Trash of Love, I mean, Rock of Love is over. I felt like I needed to take a shower ever time I watched. Blech. I knew he'd pick Jess, as soon as he told Heather he felt ill & she wanted to drive the dunebuggy instead of heading in. Nice when she went from saying she's in love with him to calling him a f*cking dirtbag assh*le after he didn't pick her. Classy.
What else. Oh, I watched Big Bang or whatever it's called on Monday night. Comedy about genius smart dorky guys with limited social skills. LOL'd several times.

Great show!! The restaurant scene where she freaks out was pretty funny... They are all so GOOD on that show!
Dirty Sexy Money.. I still like it... although I did find it abit cheesy especially out on the balcony with the Tripp and Tish... But I still think it's just a matter of getting used to. There's definately some interesting characters on it, like that priest! He cracks me up... because he's a priest and the way he acts... And the youngest son that's sort of always drunk or half out of it... him and his twin sister are a couple of twits, but funny!

^ SHUT!UP! You have got to be kidding me. That is literally the best show on TV right now, IMO. I thought the rating were decent too. They had better wrap up all the loose ends in the season finale next week then - if I'm left hanging I will NOT be happy.
Here's my updated TV watching schedule. Much of this stuff is DVR'd & watched at another time, btw:
Sunday: Family Guy, Life is Wild (cheesy, horrible writing & acting, but I like the animals :p ), Brothers & Sisters, Side Order of Life (on Lifetime - it's on hiatus now though)
Monday: How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory, Heroes, 2&1/2 Men (getting really old really fast, though), Rules of Engagement (love the married couple - Puddy from Seinfeld & the hot mom from Grounded For Life.) Antiques Roadshow during commercials or if everything's a rerun.
Tuesday: The Biggest Loser, Damages
Wednesday: Pushing Daisies, Gossip Girl
Thursday: Ugly Betty, Earl, The Office, Grey's, Supernatural
Fridays: Ghost Whisperer, Men In Trees (now that I know it's back on  ) Women's Murder Club (haven't actually seen it yet, but I want to check it out.) What Not To Wear if I happen to catch it. I may check out the Next Great American Band, but I dunno.
Saturday's the one day I'm not a TV whore.

The Y&R garage collapse thing is so stupid. I can barely watch it this week.
Nip/Tuck is back on Tuesday, October 30! :blob2:
And Amazing Race is back on Sunday, Nov. 4!

I totally agree. I tivo'd it - watched some of it but mostly just fast forwarded through it. I'm just not sure what the huge deal was - yeah, the garage collapsed - but everyone got out safe. Except Victoria but she was injured after she got out. And Noah had surgery but he's fine now. So, what's the big deal? It's not going to make a big impact on any of the previous story lines, IMO. Nikki and Victor will still get divorced. Victor and Jack will never get along, no matter what. So, idk.
