I got this in my Yahoo Stevie News Alert today.
If Christine says no.It looks like Stevie has alot of time to record and tour next year. I can't blame her. I geuss she had no fun with the guys clowning and fighting all day.

STEVIE NICKS WON'T REUNITE WITH FLEETWOOD MAC

Singer STEVIE NICKS is refusing to reunite with her former FLEETWOOD MAC bandmates, unless fellow vocalist CHRISTINE MCVIE also returns. The American star last recorded with her former bandmates on 2003's Say You Will album, but has since resisted offers to go on the road with them again, unless MCVie - who quit the group in 1998 - is on board with the reunion. She says, "I don't like it as the boys' club. We could make millions and millions of dollars touring again. But I just don't know if I want to go again without Chris."

I am not liking Stevie's rhetoric lately (i.e. towards Lindsey). She obviously was not happy during the 2002-2004 era and is now feeling the need to tell the world about it. I really don't know what she expects to gain from this new tough-love attitude. If *I* was Lindsey and read these recent quotes I'd say "f*ck you" and never reunite with her again....Just my view. My concerned view, I should say.

It's just a big ole excuse. Honestly Stevie just be truthful about it: you and Lindsey don't get on and you're not the only star in the Mac roadshow and have to make compromises you don't like. This Christine excuse is wearing thin.

That headline and the other headlines that have been making the rounds are the ones about:

- Stevie Nicks: Klonopin 'stole my forties'

- Nicks Spent Millions on Cocaine

But there are some things I take with a very large grain of salt.

She will be on tour with them again soon--as a foursome, and Christine will be happily gardening in England, and all the press will be about how everyone is, again, respecting Christine's wishes and hoping she's growing some really nice produce.

I don't buy this "I won't do it without Christine" bit for one second.

I don't think it's really an excuse...why would she have to make up an excuse? but what compromises does she not like...I haven't heard of any specifically.

I think Stevie knows the possibility of Christine coming out of retirement is slim to none. When it's over...it's over...now they can focus on their own solo endevours.

I could not agree more. But I think that it's the same when Lindsey left. It wasn't FM without him (both Stevie and Chris said as much) and it's not FM without Chris. It's Buckingham Nicks with a kick ass rhythm section and the Brand Name. But it's definitely not FM.

Stevie has also said the SYW was Lindsey's vision not the rest of the band's. She was not happy on tour (that may also be due to the fact that went through a difficult menopause.) But she missed her friend and somebody to hang with. The guys had their wives and girlfriends. I'm guessing Stevie either hung out by herself or with Sharon and Jana on SYW. But it just must not have been the same because this woman loves touring. That's all she's done her entire adult life. I only hope like all of you that she does then decide to create some new stuff on her own.

I don't find it hard to believe she feels this way at all. I'm not saying she'll stick with it (those dollar signs can be pretty alluring, I'd imagine) but I believe she genuinely feels the way she says she does.

Here's another that just popped up:

• Stevie Nicks apparently spent over $1 million on blow during her drug days. Adjusted for inflation that’s $1 billion and at least five trips to rehab.

Personally, If they can't be FM without Christine (or Stevie can't), I think they should co-headline together for shows (Lindsey and Stevie)... Similar to how Nicks and Henley did on their tour... They could each have a solo set... do some tunes together within each others sets... and that would be it, and it would be great! They could take turns opening the whole show so that it's fair and it doesn't look like Lindsey is opening for Stevie, or Stevie opening for Lindsey... and Mick and John, well they could play along in each of their sets...and be completely burnt out by the end of the night... I think it could work.

I keep thinking about that interview Mick gave to Rockline back in 04 before they went out on the road. When he was asked what was next, he thought it would be a good idea to incorporate their solo stuff (Lindsey & Stevie) into the next tour... reducing the solo tours between FM gigs and saving time cause they were getting old and running out of time. lol

Plus... She can say stuff like this though... She's got a large enough following to rely on touring for the rest of her days... She could continue on doing small tours every couple of summers to the size of crowds she's been drawing recently easily and maintain a nice life. She probably doesn't need FM, money wise.

Thats fine. I am contempt with seeing Stevie sing If Anyone Falls and How Still My Love for a few more tours.

In the meantime, I will continue to go to Lindseys kick ass solo shows with his kick ass set list and new music. The Under the Skin tour blew Stevies out of the water.

Now that the CV obligation has been met, I'm sure she'll start her new record soon...the record that I hope will finally be the Rhiannon themed album...let's just give her some time.

Recently tho, I've been thinking...I have found it odd that Reprise released the CV CD and CD/DVD and the Stand Back CD-Single in such limited quantities, almost like they are trying to do as little as possible financially so she meets her "contractual obligations" whatever those might be. I'm sure if she doesn't re-sign with Reprise that Interscope will scoop her up. She showed great interest in signing with them during the SYW record deal hunt in '02.

I think you summed up the main issue very well. I don't think Stevie likes to make compromises and while she probably still had to when touring with Christine, it was perhaps a little more tolerable. Christine was the buffer between Stevie and LB. She could probably see both their sides and acted as a moderator. With her gone, Stevie was on her own and didn't like it.

and it was easy for him to do so since he hasn't toured nearly as much as Stevie has. I don't really think you can compare the two...as disappointed as I've been with Stevie's recent setlists, I still don't think it's fair to compare 20 some odd years of touring and setlists and such to Lindsey's.

I have a feeling this is all about getting her digs in at Lindsey. I think she has every intention to sign up for the FM tour, but she wants to keep Lindsey twisting in the wind for just a little bit. After all, she knows she has Lindsey by the castanets. Lindsey is undoubtedly quite wealthy, but then again, he is the one with the expensive new house, the wife, the three kids, etc. Plus his last solo album sold 14 copies and his solo tour did not exactly set box office records. He's probably in hock to Warner/Reprise to the tune of six figures, easily.

Stevie gets along very well with Mick, and he could easily use his English wiles to schmooze her into signing on for 50 dates. Plus she has all of the FM children to play with (who are invariably girls), as well as Sharon, Jana, Lori, Cory and now even Jessica James. So this notion of a "boys club" mentality is just hogwash. Reading between her lines, what she's really referring to is the "Lindsey club" mentality.

With her clothes, her set and, if they record again, her music.

Personally I don't care that much that she doesn't want to get back with the band, but I do hope she records again. More than a new Mac tour or album, at this point I'd like a new Stevie album, and hopefully a UK tour, or at least a show or two here.

More than a new Mac tour or album, at this point I'd like a new Stevie album, and hopefully a UK tour, or at least a show or two here. For selfish reasons I'd want them to tour at least once more, just because that's the last thing on my list of things I need to do before I die; go to a Fleetwood Mac concert. And I do think it will happen, I think that Stevie's just talking **** right now. She didn't want to tour with the Mac in the early 90s either, because Mick was an asshole and it just didn't feel right without Lindsey (hey, now doesn't that sound familiar?).

If you want my opinion she just doesn't want to tour period right now. She got pulled from Hawaii to do the CV set and a subsequent tour, something which she hadn't even planned. She told people night after a night that she was only touring to support this release. Then on the last night she addresses Lori and says they can now finally go back to the Rhiannon project. Something which I think will come to fruition. I just think she has other things in store right now, and she feels the Mac would just get in the way.

But Stevie wouldn't be Stevie if she just told the truth and says she doesn't want to for herself. No, it's always something else.

wow, I don't agree at all. she is being very honest in saying what she has said. I personally dont want to see FM again unless both Stevie and Christine are both there. I am also content that if FM in the format above does not reconvene, I will be glad to see Stevie solo for as long as she continues to come around. I think she will start putting out new music and life will be good.

I am one of those who doesnt care if Lindsey Buckingham ever comes around in concert again anyway. He and his music are just not my cup of tea. If FM does not contain Stevie and Christine, I probably wont go see them.

Stevie has been playing the same set for 2 years. Even when Lindsey was in Fleetwood Mac, he changed up his songs more than Stevie. He was even the one who wanted to do the Acoustic Gypsy. Take it even back to the Tusk tour. He did the most new songs and they changed. I think its completely fair to compare the two. He plays his hits and they does fan favorites.

Stevies efforts on this last tour was pure LAZINESS. She basically threw her Vegas set in a hat and picked them out one at a time. Sure some of the clothes were cool, but Enchanted again? It was riduclous. She either needs to dump Waddy or seriously get her ass in motion. That CV show was so depressing.

see...you have nothing to compare it to except within Fleetwood Mac. that was my point. I actually remember reading that his album was close to selling 200,000 copies. I believe it, there was heavy promo for it at the shows. Plus he offered the deal where he would autograph them. Some woman we met at the show in NH bought the CD right then and there for the autograph.

Lindsey flew on a private chartered plane from gig to gig, which should show you that financial gain wasn't really his goal, or even a consideration, for this album/tour- in most instances, his proceeds from a show wouldn't even cover the cost of the jet fuel alone.

If anyone "needs" the money, its Stevie, which is why she'll ultimately do the tour in '09.

It is all a huge game and this is her play right now. Her tune changed when Lindsey was a semi solo success on his last tour. I agree, Stevie, Mick and John need the Fleetwood Mac money more than Lindsey. I think Lindsey dragging his feet with touring with the Mac has caused Stevie's reaction here. She is just playing her little game and it has nothing to do with what is realistically going to happen. I am sure my credit card will be maxed out with Mac tickets come late 2008.

I don't think it's an excuse, and it definitely sounds better than "Lindsey becomes too bossy without Christine and the tour would become a war so I prefer enjoying myself touring with other friends or alone instead". Moreover this little article that would be on hundreds of sites all over the world it's very favorable to Stevie... so no problem for me with this.
If Mac guys want her back they better start to negotiate.

I feel as though you can compare them in a sense that:
while Stevie has toured more, she has had 6 studio albums out [BD, TWH, RAL, OSTOM, SA, TSIL], and 2 greatest hits packages [pre CV] that both contained 'new' material. Her few [but still some] Soundtrack works [ie Sleeping Angel, If You Ever Did Beleive...etc.] Plus, she was on FM for one more album than Linds. [her BTM songs, plus NQA, and Chain songs...which in retrospective, Lindsey got to put 2 or 3 new songs on too, but anyways.] Lindsey has only had 4 studio albums [Law and Order, Go Insane, Out of the Cradle and UTS], NO greatest hits material [as much as I love him and his music, I dobut he ever will.], and one less Mac album of music. Sure he has the unreleased Gift of Screws, but those songs went to SYW and his UTS. And from what I gather, Stevie probably has like at minor 100 more songs than him unreleased.

So Stevie has more songs avalible to sing than Lindsey. [sure the unreleased stuff is no excuse for him]. She is able to make more changes to her list, and doesnt! Lindsey always tries to change his list somewhat. look at his 93 tour compared to today.
But look at Stevies 85 tour to today. [being fair, as not adding in her first 2 tours, she didnt have as much material to her advantage then.]
Sure CV tour, do songs that promote the album. Ok, so she does Enchanted? [not on CV], Fall From Grace [not on CV, its a good song though, hey I like Enchanted too, but if its 'for the album'...] B&TB wasnt on CV, but she did it anyways.

She didnt do 'Planets...' and that WAS on CV...If she would have done that song, I would have def! found a way to go to at least one show.

Ok, Lindsey's album, Under the Skin.
11 tracks, unless you bought the itunes version [you get a new GOYW...big deal], or the Barnes and noble version [you get the Soundstage Say Goodbye preformance with Stevie...again big deal, you can find the Mp3s of it somewhere.]
he played 7/11 songs he had on the album for the tour TO SUPPORT THE ALBUM. [I hate the fact he relied on SO much Mac stuff, and not his solo stuff, hey he should have just expanded the setlist another hour or so :D]. Stevie played 8/16 for her tour TO SUPPORT THE ALBUM.
Yet, Stevie was able to have more flexibility in
a)what songs she chose to do from CV
b)what other songs to sing in general-ok, so she can sing Enchanted thats not on the album, but not Bella Donna, Blue Denim, Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You, Rose Garden...etc.
She has SO many fantastic songs, but doesn't bother to play them, she sticks with the same stuff.

Not that Im not saying Lindsey doesnt do it completely either-
He has SO MUCH amazing solo material-Slow Dancing, Bwana, Don't Look Down..etc. but he sticks with the same MAC stuff every show.
But at least he does change it up a bit compared to Stevie..

In this case though, I do beleive that we have every right to compare them and thier live setlists. [In both cases they rely too much on their Fleetwood Mac stuff, there I said it.]

But as I said, Stevie has so many amazing songs, 2 FANTASTIC albums [BD, TWH], 2 alright albums [SA, RAL], [and two yet to be purchased...shame on me.] Instead of doing Rhiannon every show, cant you at least do Angel or Storms? [putting it in that perspective. I dont expect her to EVER drop Rhiannon, Landslide, or Dreams. ESP. Landslide, but just so you get the gist of what I'm trying to say.]

Lindsey-
sure play GOYW [its the song that made you famous, same with S. and Rhiannon], but really, Big Love? Could you play it in Tango Style to change it up/surprise us?[thats the thing with him, the man is a fcking genius, but just doesnt think have the time] But like NGBA... I love it, but I would rather hear something else.

I agree with whoever said that the thought of taking another 14-month tour with Lindsey & John & that whole crew really palls on Stevie. I don't think she's up to that sort of experience again. It seems to indicate that she didn't really like it the last go-round, aside from the financial windfall.

Exactly, Stevie has no intention of re-living the SYW era...like she has said in the past, they tried it, and it didn't work (according to her). As for Lindsey, he needs to stop opening up a can of worms about a future FM tour because everytime he does, Stevie gets the heat.

Ya I agree, we're really got spoiled here in the usa lately.with yearly tours here, Stevie or FM should spend more time with the fans across the pond.a good month or two instead of a couple of days here and there.I was supprized she spend time in Australia on the gold dust tour.

I thought Lindsey didn't want to tour with the Mac either. According to his science-fiction marked interview in which he said a diabolic Stevie supported by Mick had handed him a setlist for the next tour, giving him instructions on the little scenes for the fans they should have set onstage. Now, listening to Stevie's intentions, that interview sounds a bit....fabricated, but even if it was only the result of a nightmare for Lindsey, I'm sure his high artistic soul would feel relieved. Obviously now he'll have to wait a couple of months more before buying his new mansion... but that's life.

I'm not going to comment on that, because I don't feel it was obvious in any way that she was either happy or unhappy. She had her good times and her bad times on that tour. During that last leg of the tour it didn't seem like she was unhappy being there, but who knows what went on inside her head.

I want to bring up another thing Lindsey said not long ago, which was that he was going to refrain from commenting on how much fun he had on the SYW tour because it had seemed to piss Stevie off reading about it. He wasn't saying anything different than what Stevie was/is saying. Why would she get pissed off at him for talking about it? I still think it's a dumb excuse and the truth lies in her just not wanting to tour period. She just has to turn it into this entire dramatic thing again.

That is my problem with this whole thing.

If Stevie doesn't want to tour anymore with FM, she shouldn't. Seriously. Same for Lindsey. Yeah, I want to see them--but not if they have to be dragged into it kicking and screaming. But the thing is--a year or so from now, the tune will competely change and the Christine thing will not be mentioned. And they will try and sell us the fairy tale again. And that's annoying. I can understand that Stevie changes her mind a lot, but perhaps a little discretion is in order. A lot of people shelled out a lot of cash to see FM during SYW--whether it was for one concert or 30. And this does cast a bad light on it. Because while (again, some of us) were enjoying ourselves, apparently Stevie was in an all-male-but-her chain-gang. Never mind that her best friend, Sharon, was there. Jana was there...Mindy was there for part of the tour...

There was no support system at all for Stevie.

That bugs me a bit. If you've agreed to sell a fairy tale of lost loves, reconciled friendships, blah, blah...don't turn around a couple of years later and make it sound like a nightmare.

You know, and I could be wrong on this, but I don't have time to check, all throughout 2005 when she was doing Gold Dust press, she didn't breathe a word about how horrible the SYW tour was for her, I think in fact she only had nice things to say about it, but then all of a sudden that changed somewhere along the line. I think it's really easy for us to criticize every single word in every single interview. but keep in mind that maybe what we're all viewing as lies or twisted truths may just be how Stevie's feeling at the moment. who knows what was going on before the interview that skewed her comments. it's a wide-known fact now that yeah, maybe Stevie wasn't thrilled about the all-boys band and she probably went back and forth and is still going back and forth about saying something vs. not saying something and I'm sure sometimes she feels weird about even thinking that. she never said she was at gunpoint. she probably did it and has realized she'd rather not do it again. tomorrow she could change her mind. that's a woman's right, they say. ( )

Jannie - she was really, really into my show, I thought, in Greenville, but not really into the show I went to in Biloxi at.all. - wasn't she going through a lot of personal issues off and on during this tour?

I think that the whole experience of SYW was very heavy and intense for Stevie - leading to her wishy washy attitude then and now.

I did want to specifically address Regina's point of how the tune will change in a year and the whole fairy tale thing...I don't get that. so what if the tune changes? she's perfectly in the right to change her mind about anything at any moment without having to think "oh ****, but I said in an interview xyz" - as for the fairy tale...what do you mean?

Yes, but just because she's feeling something about this or that now, doesn't make what she says actually true. It stills remains a feeling.

But I get what you're saying. :xoxo:

I agree that she had was going through some personal issues on the SYW tour. The start of the tour was less than great, she didn't really turn around until after their break in August. Besides, Lindsey didn't write Under the Skin about her for nothing. ;) Apparantly she had trouble going from one point to another, however the heck you want to interpret that.

"Under the Skin" is about STEVIE???He never admitted it with that many words, but that's certainly what it came down to. I don't have the exact quotes here, but he said something along the lines of witnessing someone that he was very close to (or had known for a long time) on the SYW tour and that she had trouble going from one point to another, but that the answers were all right there, under the skin. When asked who 'the Queen' referred to, he smiled enigmatically and said 'well, someone with a certain self-image of herself'. To me, it could not be more obvious and if I remember correctly most people here thought the same. I could be wrong.

What was going on with her during this tour (besides menopause, that is)?

Lee
09-13-2007, 11:56 AM
on my local, rock radio station as an update. She doesn't want to be part of the "boys club". And here I thought she liked boys. Here's my take on it. Yeah, she was going though menopause, & didn't she have a hip problem at the time during the SYW tour, too? This wasn't really pleasant for her & men just can't relate to menopause , so being there with just men was probably a big problem there. And I also thinks she feels smothered creatively sometimes by Lindsey. Probably wouldn't feel this way if Christine was there for support. So I think in this stage of her life, she feels solo is the way to go. She doesn't have Lindsey all over her who doesn't like this or that; she's can write a song, do it the way she wants, no changes by anyone (maybe asks someone's opinion, I don't know) & it's done her way. She also goes out & performs them her way. Also during her solo tours, she gets to interact with the fans (during Edge of 17), not so when she's with the Mac. And I really thinks she likes this interaction & the attention. This is JMO on it. Who knows; she could change her mind.

frankly, this little tid-bit sounds as though it was released and planted intentionally. stevie isn't doing much of anything right now for her to come out and mention this scoop. keep in mind, the band has no new album and would be touring in support of nothing.

thusly, i'd venture to say her current bs has been released in the hopes that people will hear about it, interest in fleetwood mac will be drummed up again -- perhaps folks will be bummed out that they won't get to see fleetwood mac one more time -- and then suddenly, next year we'll find out that despite mcvie's passing up on touring one last time, nicks has finally agreed! and won't everyone be pleased and want to run out and by tickets for the bands farewell tour.

stevie will be riding that cash cow one more time.

The fan's response is always, "Wait, I thought you didn't want to do that any more." It's always perplexity.

The mood she's in at the moment is what most influences what she says, or at least how she says it.

Let's see. I severely edited my post yesterday and I'll try to make this a little clearer.

Stevie has a right to say anything, do anything, and then throw herself in reverse--any time or all the time. I don't question her rights at all. Talk away. But I can certainly feel that some of what's being said is a bit of b.s.

Because I don't believe that she's sitting there thinking about Christine and putting off her own tour decisions based on whether Chris is willing to tour again. I think she's talking about something that's not an issue in 2008. And when it does become an issue, and everything is approached in the right manner, she will forget all about Christine and the boys club, and do the tour.
And will I be there? Yes. Will this interview matter? No.

But it bugs me. And it all boils down to my opinion of Stevie, as a person.

I don't see Stevie as this blushing flower of a woman. I see her as someone who is strong, powerful, and tough as nails. I probably see her as more of a businesswoman than Lindsey is a businessman. Yes, she has led a pampered life. But, when push comes to shove, she's been in the "boy's club" from the minute she stepped into Hollywood and her objection to it now and her specific references to SYW seem lame.

And what should have mattered most--is having the opportunity to stand on that stage during that two-year period of time looking out at the sea of thousands of screaming, happy faces who left with good memories of what they had just seen/heard. Isn't that a performers ultimate goal?

That's where the fairy tale mention came in. When they want us to attend the concerts, everything is hunky-dory. They sell us a backstory, as well as the musical performance itself. But the concerts end, there is a lull between tours and you hear of this trouble in paradise. But, does anyone really want to know that "in real life" Stevie (or any of them) was miserable, doing that job, while you were in the audience having the time of your life? I'm not much of a Christine fan--but, I think she has a hell of a lot of integrity for stepping down rather than trying to "fake it' and then whacking some illusion later by revealing what she "really felt." Oh--excuse me--what she thinks she really felt at the exact moment in time that the interview was conducted but we, of course, have to give her leeway because next week, she may decide that the SYW tour was just the dandyiest thing ever.

And, yup, for the record, lest you think I'm some renegade who doesn't love Stevie, I can't even count the number of times I've seen her solo and with FM and will continue to do it whenever she's out there. And I think she's a wonderful person. But I get disgruntled every once in a while with these interviews. Because she IS strong, and she does have options. And she can exercise them. If she chooses not to, then I feel it's more noble to live with it without complaining so much to the very people who have spent anywhere from hundreds to thousands of dollars to see her. But does she have a right to do it? Absolutely. Will she continue to do it? Uh, that would probably be a yes.

So, now I've gone around in circles and have given myself a headache. And I'm done.

Let's see. I severely edited my post yesterday and I'll try to make this a little clearer.

Snipped- but I agree with every part.

Stevie made about $19M after taxes for her involvement in the SYW tour.

Now, with that in mind, if she'd rather not make $200K per gig on the potential '09 FM tour, that's up to her, but all this gossip, name-calling, and overall pout-fest that she's perpetuating by her posturing is making Stevie look like a petulant bitch.

As for all this drama that Stevie was apparently going through in the early part of the SYW tour... sometime before I die, I'd like to know why Stevie threw the bat**** crazy hissy fit to end all hissy fits after the 5/31/03 Nashville show, when faced with the potential scenario of meeting & greeting a waiting Bob Welch backstage.

More details, please!

Oh, she threw so many hissy fits... anyone remember the first week of June in Florida? :p

Please tell! I love to hear about Stevie hissy fits!

Yes, mainly. She slowed down a bit, but she moved still. It was just a show I had already seen so many times. Its always fun when you're there, but my favorite songs were done in the first 15 minutes.

That's true, she was much more "active" physically on the Gold Dust Tour, especially in songs like Stand Back. I attributed that to the "boots being back" aspect though. But in compromise, she was probably better VOCALLY on the CV tour, if we could've mixed BOTH of those great things into one tour, it would have been amazing. I had fun at the CV shows too, but agree they lacked something. If she TRULY wanted to promote the CV CD, she should've done songs from it. Rooms on Fire, Talk to Me, I Can't Wait, all hits...not like we were asking for "Rarities."

frankly, this little tid-bit sounds as though it was released and planted intentionally. stevie isn't doing much of anything right now for her to come out and mention this scoop. keep in mind, the band has no new album and would be touring in support of nothing.

thusly, i'd venture to say her current bs has been released in the hopes that people will hear about it, interest in fleetwood mac will be drummed up again -- perhaps folks will be bummed out that they won't get to see fleetwood mac one more time -- and then suddenly, next year we'll find out that despite mcvie's passing up on touring one last time, nicks has finally agreed! and won't everyone be pleased and want to run out and by tickets for the bands farewell tour.

stevie will be riding that cash cow one more time.

She's doing press now for the European release of "Crystal Visions." That excerpt that this thread is about, is from a larger article/interview actually.

I think to a casual fan she 's looking like a rockstar who didn't have much fun touring without her friend, and she's even ready to renounce to a lot of money not to repeat the experience.

I loved SYW tour, but if it was such a tough experience emotionally for her, I totally support Stevie in this decision not to tour with the Mac again, which by the way, isn't set in stone, right?

He never admitted it with that many words, but that's certainly what it came down to.

I didn't mean to suggest that I felt this was wrong. It's just... quite the revelation. Considering it's the title track. These two have no business not making music together. It's all too sad.

Mick and John need to do one of the following:

1. Do a farewell tour with Lindsey and assorted ex-Mac (i.e. Bekka and Bob Welch, and maybe Billy and Rick)

2. Just put the band to rest once and for all.

3. Completely revamp the band with other creative people. Don't shoot for the stars, shoot for respectability. If it were me, I'd start with people who have the talent and who've made their own names in music and make the ensuing project be more about collaboration than carrying a torch. While they might play some of the old stuff, they'd have too much of their own stuff to get caught up in "the legacy" which, IMO, the last two tours have tarnished. And, unless they opt for #1 or #2, anything they do that still features Lindsey and/or Stevie will be seen as a bastardization of the classic Fleetwood Mac anyway. FWIW, my preferences as of today would be Alex Chilton, Susanna Hoffs, and Jay Bennett, but then I've been on a power-pop trip lately. (BEST VERSION of September Gurls EVER!)

(NOTE: I'd say Bob Pollard, but knowing him as well as I do -which really isn't that well- I can say with a certain degree of certainty that there's no way in hell he'd ever do it. This IS the same guy who said Willie Nelson can s**k a cow d*** for saying the guy from Matchbox 20 restored his faith in songwriting. So, really, there are no sacred cows with him, and it wouldn't be a huge honor for him to join the band. But hey, if he did say yes, the band would have at least ten more albums out...by 2010!)

I wonder how much of this has to do with her dad's death. I mean, it wasn't until right around the time he was dying did all of this Christine stuff come up. It's like she's going from one security blanket to another. I could be wrong.

During the latter part of his tour, when people in the audience would say that Under the Skin was about Stevie, Lindsey would smile and say, "Well, she does fit the profile."

Luckily not everyone feels the need to tell people "F U" because they are not getting their way.

STEVIE NICKS WON'T REUNITE WITH FLEETWOOD MAC

Singer STEVIE NICKS is refusing to reunite with her former FLEETWOOD MAC bandmates, unless fellow vocalist CHRISTINE MCVIE also returns.

Why can't SN get over the "making millions and millions" and doing arena venues, and take it down to a level where they can be creative? Aren't they sick of trotting out the same songs repeatedly - songs that we've heard a thousand times already?
Personally, I would love to see them in a more intimate venue, where they can chat to the audience, tell stories, re-arrange the old songs in new ways, do stuff we haven't heard..... ah, whats the use..... it's only about the money..... :(

Yeh~ why are they not together? I hate it that he's married~:distress:Did the Lindsey Buckinghams get (or are they getting) a divorce?

Lindsey & Stevie have a problem, though. In order to be together, they'd have to be able to be in the same room together for ... well ... I would say extended periods of time, & recurrently, too.

So if they were both free to hook back up, what do you suppose they would talk about in their "together" time? Painting the eyelashes on stuffed pink unicorns? Slider controls vs. knobs on a mixing console? Capes & shawls in wintry colors? Raising three children? The good ol' days -- with the tantrums, the infidelity & the depression?

Sounds like a great match to me!

Obviously right? I mean, I saw 3 shows on the SYW tour and Stevie was visibly BORED. She acted like she wasnt enjoying herself, and even my girlfriend at the time (who didnt really LIKE Fleetwood Mac) made a comment about Stevie seeming like she was "going thru the motions." Now, I love Stevie, but she had much more energy on the TISL tour when I saw her in Atlanta...very vibrant. She obviously wants the dynamic back that they had with Christine rather than the current rock-cock-3-piece. Thats ok. I've been enjoying Lindseys solo shows more than any of the Mac shows I ever saw.

Stevie has a right to say anything, do anything, and then throw herself in reverse--any time or all the time. I don't question her rights at all. Talk away. But I can certainly feel that some of what's being said is a bit of b.s.

I have never seen any of the Florida shows, but I think there were at least 2 different occasions when fans reported that Stevie was mad during the show. She and Lindsey had obviously fought at one of them.

It's funny to think about. Must be something in the air!

I can understand Stevie not wanting to tour with Fleetwood Mac right now. Christine is a member of Fleetwood Mac, and I am sure it was hard on Stevie with her not being there. You also have to think about how hard it might be for Stevie seeing all her band mates married with children and happy. Stevie put Fleetwood Mac first in her life, which is why she is single and has no children. It was probably hard being around Lindsey as well. Can you imagine loving someone so much, but not being able to be with that person, but at the same time having to be around them all the time, That would be hard. Lindsey is in a better place now, he has grown and he has said that having children changed him. I am sure it brings up alot of old feelings for Stevie as well as for Lindsey. I think that Stevie will probably do another tour with Fleetwood Mac one day, but we have to remember that Stevie Nicks is 59 years old, and I am sure it is alot harder on her now. I do not think it is very nice to talk bad about Stevie or Lindsey, and to try and compare there concerts. They are two different people. You also have to remember that it was Lindsey who was jealous of Stevie in the begining and this is what screwed up there relationship, Lindsey felt threatned by Stevie. Stevie is not jealous of Lindsey, she has always wanted Lindsey to be happy. ALSO,I loved the CV concert, it was the first time that I got to see Stevie.

You also have to remember that it was Lindsey who was jealous of Stevie in the begining and this is what screwed up there relationship, Lindsey felt threatned by Stevie. He always had some issues, that boy. Imagine all the wonderful skills he had & the craftsmanship he could so easily wield: playing guitar, thinking in abstract musical terms & applying those ideas in concrete ways, orchestrating pop songs (including uptempo songs & ballads), engineering an entire album, production in all its various modes, writing pretty good popular songs, singing a bit (including harmonizing).

It's mind-boggling that he'd be jealous of anyone else's abilities in the pop music business. He should have tried hypnosis or something, perhaps Going To His Happy Place.

Michele, you have done it. You uncovered the real truth behind the S/L competition. Of course! I don't know why it wasn't revealed sooner. I think it deserves another Vh-1 special.

Behind the Ego: The Buckingham Nicks Saga

In 2007, in the midst of intense and ego-filled negotiations for a possible upcoming tour or first time ever cd release of Buckingham Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham finally admits the long-hidden secret buried deep within the visionary's phsyche, the root of all his insecurities, dating back to 1968 and the inclusion of Stevie Nicks into his band, Fritz: He cannot play the tamborine.

Lindsey sits in a chair looking intently at Stevie who is twirling her hair in serious silence.

"I've spent long hours here practicing it and I really cannot even tell you what it means to me. I mean, I'll just cry. After all these years, I still cannot play and I'll admit it. I mean, any shrink will tell you that for me to admit this to you and to be able to walk out onstage and just play guitar, to allow you the full control of the tamborine is a good thing. If you don't think that this is part of some amazing kind of closure you're f***king wrong."

;)
