I don't know why I've been watching VH1 all day...I guess in preparation for MTV Awards tonight (I can't wait to see what Britney pulls off) - anyway, just to let you know Talk To Me was #11...I doubt Stevie will re-appear on the countdown, but I'll let you know if she does.

no one cares, I know...but w/e -

them bitches ain't rock! you can't be the "Queen of Soul" ( ) and be #3 on a rock countdown - at the same time! w/e.

for those who are interested. I do tend to agree...a LOT of these are not ROCK-related women. But, you know how VH1 is...lol. I would say really only about 8 of them are.

20. Cher (If I Could Turn Back Time)
19. Bangles (Manic Monday)
18. Cyndi Lauper (Girls Just Want To Have Fun)
17. Mariah Carey (Emotions)
16. Eurythmics (Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This)
15. Donna Summer (She Works Hard For The Money)
14. Carly Simon (You're So Vain)
13. Go-Go's (Our Lips Are Sealed)
12. Blondie (Heart Of Glass)
11. Stevie Nicks (Talk To Me)
10. Janet Jackson (What Have You Done For Me Lately)
09. Pretenders (Brass In Pocket)
08. Joan Jett (I Love Rock N Roll)
07. Diana Ross (Missing You)
06. Pat Benatar (Love Is A Battlefield)
05. Tina Turner (What's Love Got To Do With It)
04. Heart (Barracuda)
03. Aretha Franklin (Freeway Of Love)
02. Whitney Houston (How Will I Know, I Will Always Love You)
01. Madonna (Like A Virgin, Like A Prayer)

Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston...? :distress:

Where's Melissa Etheridge, or Janis Joplin, or Grace Slick?

I can go on and on.

Oh brother, Stevie is way too low on this. Looks like record sales was weighted heavily here which I don't think is the premier variable regarding how much you rock.

the interesting thing was that Ann Wilson hosted this countdown and Heart was #4 on the list...I kinda don't think they would've been that high had she not been hosting...but I wonder how she feels about Aretha, Whitney and Madonna being ahead of her.

I avoided it this past weekend, since I knew VH1 would drop the ball once again in regards to who they think "rocks".

Of course I would've added the following rockers to the list instead of the usual U.S. popularity contest choices VH1/MTV seems to shove upon everyone as rock: Andrea Datwyler (Lunatica), Sabine Edelsbacher (Edenbridge), Liv Krisitine Krull (Leaves Eyes), Angela Gossow (Arch Enemy), Tarja Turunen, Floor Jansen (After Forever), Simone Simons (Epica), Cristina Scabbia (Lacuna Coil) and even Bonnie Tyler.

On a slightly related note VH1 Classic (This week) showed a 30 minute show promoting Ann Wilson's solo album.
