Since there was a discussion here some time ago about I'm not there, I thought to post something on the film, that I saw last night in Venice.

It's a movie that would split audiences. Todd Haynes' baroque nature is hugely confirmed by this new movie. Obviously, as we all might expect this isn't a biopic but purely a visionary thesis on the many souls he sees in Dylan. The movie hasn't a chronologic path, but jumps between thoughts, fears, images, creations, lies, revelations, rages, hopes, loves. The six major characters, are indeed Dylan but only three (those portrayed by Bale and Blanchett, and partially Ledger), play a mirror character directly linked to his biography, even if sometimes with totally invented twists. All the others are more a personification of his motives, choices, victories and failures.
Coming to the acting, th film is totally dominated by Cate Blanchett: she has the longest screen time and is purely and undoubtely Dylan. I think till now she's the most serious contender for the acting award here.
Sorry gotta go (Schnabel is coming), if you have questions of want to know something more, just ask.
