No Joan Rivers? No Charlie Rose?

From your list, though, it's a tie between Letterman & Oprah. They're both living. But there really wasn't anyone like Johnny Carson. (and typing that made me realize how old I really am...) :D

I can't choose, but as long as no one picks Conan O'Brien I'm happy.

there are so many variables in deciding a favorite talk show host so I'll have to think on this one. I mean, are we talking overall (past, present and future), etc etc...it's b/w Ellen, Oprah and Rosie.

ha! of course you (we) did. i was thinking strictly daytime talkshow hosts, as the late night/late show/tonight show formats didn't really make me think of a "talk show".

speaking of which, where's the love for sally jesse raphael?

...and don't forget TYRA!!!

But my honest fave of all time has to be The Ru Paul show that was on weeknights on VH1 about 8 or 9 years ago. It was campy, retro, musical, funny-as-hell... and she/he snagged a few A-listers like Diana Ross and Cher. Oh, what happened to Ru...

I had to go with Johnny Carson. But if I had to choose someone still alive, it would be Letterman.

David Letterman all the way! And of course, the late, great Tom Snyder.

Where the hell is Craig Ferguson?

Three dead late night hosts are options, and the host of the current funniest show in late night isn't?

well, if I couldn't decide before, I can now. I'll go with Rosie.

although, tbh, like Carrie, Ricki Lake is like a Big Sis to me. :(
