View Full Version : A Little Bit of Friend/Girl Trouble (yay for venting). Advice requested,

Well, here I am, just feeling like I need to vent a little about friends and girls here. One of my good friends, who is the drummer in my band is probably going to end up having a girlfriend here pretty soon, and the girl is one that I sort of am attracted to, I guess.... But the point is not that.
My friend had one girlfriend for about a year and a half. They eventually started having sex WITHOUT protection. This friend and myself, and really all of my friends, don't have the same morals as me. He wasn't worried about pregnancy, and if she DID get pregnent, he'd just make her get an abortion, like it's THAT SIMPLE!!!! Now, you gotta understand, this happened like two years ago, but it's just his thing with girls that makes me so mad.
He really doesn't want a "relationship" he just wants sex. And my other good friend is turning into the same way, although he hasn't gotten any, if you know what I mean.
What gets me mad is that the girl that he currently has his eyes on is a very good, sweet, CHRISTIAN girl (my friends are all for the most part Athiest) and I am scared that he might corrupt her. Like I said earlier, my friend really doesn't care to have a relationship, he just wants to get some action, and if having a relationship with someone is what he needs to have to get it, he'll do it. The sad thing is, is that girls don't know this about him, and I really want to tell this girl to be careful.
You know, here I am, little hopeless romantic me going off again, to shy to get anything started with a girl, but this whole thing frustrates me. My guy friends are just... I don't know, all they seem to be focused on these days are girls. Oh and did I mention what they refer to them as? "Lady Foxes". OMG that drives me freaking insane. I don't really know what to do, and was wondering if any of you all had any suggestions. And YES, I have vented this same topic in song form.
So anyway, I am just feeling a little down right now. Thankfully it's the weekend and we get to go the studio on Saturday, but I just don't know how much more of this kind of stuff my heart can take......... :distress:
Much Love,
Ethan

Ethan, you're getting your knickers in a knot for nothing.
If this girl is a good Christian girl (I'll have you know, "other" girls are "good" too~) as you say, her upbringing will be her armour. If her priorities and values are in the "right" place, she'll see your bandmate for what he is.
If you want to "warn" her as a friend, I dont see any harm. She may even appreciate it. Of course, she may not listen or take your advice, but then, she'll have learned a valuable life lesson. Just be there for her if she needs you and chances are it will all work out OK.
ps: "Lady Foxes" is nothing to get steamed up over IMO. its FAR better than "Bitch" or "HO" that I objected to in another thread

This almost made me cry. Im in the same age group as you Ethan, [im 15....] and it seems all guys are like that [its nice to see at least one...you...not be a complete assbag....], If i was that girl, I would want to be warned about a guy like that. Even if he is your friend, he has no right to treat a girl like that. just dont be all wierd about it. just tell her once, and be sincere about it, and if she doesnt listen itll be her own problem. but if i were you, i wouldnt say anything to your friend, if he is a good/true friend you wouldnt want to ruin your relationship over a girl.
and about likeing her [well kindofsortof...:)] if you really do, just tell her. seriously. the one thing i HATE about guys is when they like/dont like you and they dont tell you but constantly act like they like you. it gets annoying [esp. this one guy...dont even get me started...little assbag....] but dont try to downplay anything, if she asks especially. girls like guys who are upfoward with them..
oh and tell your friend to get some protection, because its not even about pregneancy, its about just having safe sex...what about deseases? thats the biggest problem. and he cant MAKE a girl get an abortion.
just stating my opinion, as a teenage girl who deals with guys [who sound similar to your 'friend' all the time...]

Let me rain harder on your parade. Girls do not like romance. They like adventure, thrills and bad boys. If you think of your self as more of a teen romancer kind of guy, date women. Especially women approaching 40 and have more than 3 cats. They are ripe and ready for "romance."
Good luck!

I am sorry, but I must dissagree with your post.
Id rather 'romance' than a guy who just wants to f**k up, and go nowhere with thier lives. even if i dont end up with a guy, i dont want my name attachted to some loser....

You are a serious minority. GIRLS say they want the romance, but girls really don't. Not saying they just wanna get laid either.
Girls are different than women.

I can agree with that statement.
But the main thing is, I just dont dont want to be used...for sex or anything else, and thats mostly what 'bad boys' do. I mean, I dont want a goodygoody...but not some guy who only is with me so they can get laid. In between is a good place for an ideal guy IMO.

oh thats just JADED. us 40-somethings like adventure, thrills, bad boys and all that other stuff too...we just appreciate the Romance more. Plus, the bad boys cant fool us any more, so we intrigue them. We get the best of both worlds.

Nobody wants to be used (well, except Andre) but girls *do* tend to go for the challenge and excitement of boys that are "bad". It's not until you get older when you realize you can do better.

everyone needs to remember that with the hormone overdose that teens are dealing with, they need the extra OOMPH that the forbidden brings. If the object of desire is too tame, it doesnt register on the hormonal radar. sad but true.

This I don't know. But I do chuckle at the formula:
1. New thread started by Ethan. Really long intro post explaining some of kind of problem and request for advice or asking a question.
2. Lots of people come in, express good thoughts, answer the questions, try to engage Ethan, offer advice.
3. A day or so later, Ethan comes back, makes one post saying things are better and then posts a

Here's a little reminder for you all. Human beings posessing penises tend to be complete morons. In general, the young male mentality is "hit it and quit it." You know, sometimes, that never changes. It's written in the ****in' bible. So, questioning this and complaining about it is basically beating a dead horse. Girls, if you want a romantic, considerate guy, you better look for a guy who is at least 20 years older than you. Guys, if you want a girl who will appreciate you sweeping her off her feet, look for some middle-aged broad with 500 cats and a hosecoat. Etc.
That being said, get your kicks while you're young. Have fun. Learn from your mistakes. Most of all, DO NOT let a relationship - your own, or someone else's - or lack there of tie you down. Wait until you're at the point where you're starting to get old and fat and then try and find someone to love and cherish and blah blah blah until you're dead. By then, getting stoned and shellacked and bedding random people will have lost it's charm, and romance and longevity will be more appealing to you. But you dudes & dudettes are hella young - there's no reason whatsoever you should be bummed out about being single. Have fun, for ****'s sake! It's not like it was a hundred years ago, when a chick would be considered an old maid if she was 18 and single. Christ almighty.

i don't know if it's because it's early, but this threw my elusive, wheezing smoker laugh into full-effect.
i also don't know if getting stoned, shellacked, (well, generally polluted in the full sense of the word) and bedding random people has lost its charm for me, but i have cut that sequence of events out, and let me tell ya.. life is so much more boring! (not that drunk sex isn't boring itself many times. )
i guess it's a good thing to want to be decent and pure... but some young girls just want to party. i did.. and you would not believe the ridiculous stories, and a lot of it has bitten me in the ass.. but i wouldn't go back and change any of it.

I agree with a lot of this post. You shouldn't WANT to be tied down when you are young. Being young is about being wild, trying everything, finding out what you like and dont like. I didnt get into a "serious" relationship until I was in my thirties. I loved my teens and twenties - I had a blast!!

Oh, gosh...everyone says this, but I've never wanted to be wild. I've always been very low-energy. I hated my teens and 20s. They were stupid - I was stupid. I did stupid things; I trusted people who shouldn't have been trusted and I got into a lot of trouble because of it. I'd never go back to being 15, or even 22 because I cannot imagine wanting to be that idiotic ever again. I'm 28 and I feel like I'm just barely starting to crawl out of it now...

I dont want to be wild, I hate my teens, I dont feel like im a part of anything at my school, none of the guys even want anything to do with me, that is if i was interested in the first place in any of them, Jr High and High School havent been 'the best time of my life' because im simply not like everyone else. ^^I don't really mean go wild via partying, etc. (unless that's what you want to do). I meant that I wish I had spent some of my younger years really trying to know who I was and what I enjoyed in life as an individual. It's harder to do when you get older.

I really question people who say that junior high and high school were "the best times of their lives." When I turned 18, a friend of my mother's said to me "It's all downhill from here!" I thought, if that woman (who was probably 40 at the time) really feels like she peaked at 17 or 18, then that is really sad. I mean - 18? You'll probably live for another 70 years at that age. And your life is already over??
That's not to say you shouldn't have fun and enjoy yourself in high school. But there's plenty of time for you to get laid...later. Focusing on your education is a really, really good idea and I wish I hadn't been such a basketcase when I was your age so I could have done the same.
and I would go out with a guy 20+ years older than me, but my mom wont let me :p
Parents are frequently lame, but you should really thank your mother for this. Seriously.

see, its not as though i dont want to have fun, its just the kids at school, really, really dont like me. I never did anything to any of them, and i mostly just mind my own buissiness. except when it comes to the two or 3 people i do call 'friends'.
and i dont want to get laid...at least not now, i dont want to f*ck up the rest of my life by getting pregneant.
and i kindof do thank my mom for it, but when im out in public [as i do look older than i am], its mostly 18-25 year olds who find me attractive....
stupid highschool boys

^^I don't really mean go wild via partying, etc. (unless that's what you want to do). I meant that I wish I had spent some of my younger years really trying to know who I was and what I enjoyed in life as an individual. It's harder to do when you get older.
I understand your point. I don't think anyone has any answers to anything in their 20's. That is when people make their biggest mistakes and hopefully learn from them. I think you probably made a great choice to be in a relationship..at least you were developing the emotional musculature to be with another person - you weren't running around with your head up your butt. Your choices took character.

Oh, well I can relate to that a little bit. Sometimes I'm not sure if I've spent too much or too little time trying to get to know who I was and what I wanted. Or it might just be that what I want has changed over time.
As far as partying - about the only thing that I'll concede on that is that I wish I had been less sexually inhibited in my early 20s. Unfortunately, I'd had it drilled into my head that I was hideously unattractive for so long, that I couldn't accept that anyone was attracted to me, even when they were blatantly telling me so. I've been really kicking myself for that over the last year or so.
And there's certainly nothing wrong with casual sex, as long as everyone is on the same page and you're being safe about it.

Yeah, I had a different sort of growth. And because I was in my 20's and didn't know much, I made a TON of mistakes in the relationships.

I really question people who say that junior high and high school were "the best times of their lives."
Do people actually say this? I wouldn't go back to high school for all the money in the world....and junior high was hell. Junior high plus high school make me pray that there is no reincarnation.

lol.
they had their ups and downs. the bad times were really bad, but the good times were really good. i can say it was a good time in my life, and that for the most part, i had a freakin' BLAST and never worried about getting busted by cops, just by parents... but that doesn't mean i'd go back. no.. i don't think i would.
i need to shut up before i start revealing too much about myself.

i dont' think he's 40  I saw him at the youngstown concert, but didn't get to go talk to him because I was across the parking lot and he walked in with his family and i lost him.
and what was wrong with my post earlier? I was really happy for him. matter of fact, he PMed me earlier, and I asked for demos of his.
my apologies then, I misunderstood your post. I'll delete mine right away.

Yes, they do. Frequently. And it's usually people over 40, which is scary. The only way I'd go back is if I could take my 28-year old brain with me.
oh DEAR! :distress:
Mine did. Although the boy was 14, not 12. But still.

THANK YOU
I dont want to be wild, I hate my teens, I dont feel like im a part of anything at my school, none of the guys even want anything to do with me, that is if i was interested in the first place in any of them, Jr High and High School havent been 'the best time of my life' because im simply not like everyone else. Maybe In college Ill agree with the two previous posters here about wanting to let loose, but now Im just trying to get my education..
and I would go out with a guy 20+ years older than me, but my mom wont let me :p
let me give you a piece of advice. i know it seems hard now, but believe me-once you are out of high school, none of that crap matters anymore. it really doesn't. it will sound trite, but try to spend this time figuring out who you are. Once you get out of HS, everything changes. boys who didnt' used to pay attention to you will start to notice, and then some. I was such a dork in high school. I mean, i was in band, for God's sake. I was the epitome of loser and never really was hit on by boys. They always wanted miss cheerleader, or miss popularity. I was the furthest from that. But once I graduated, and sorta felt comfortable with myself and who I was, here they came. it was actually a little overwhelming and scary, but flattering at the same time. I'm not saying all this because of an "oh...this was meee...look at me" i'm just trying to explain the difference in high school and the real world. It's like night and day. Just enjoy yourself and stay true to who you are. it will work out, you're a very pretty girl

In Europe, they call older, "seductive" women "cougars." Maybe they think you're an older, seductive woman? :P :xoxo:

I would never be mistaken for a woman, though.

Kinda random, but amusing - The other day, my ex was showing me one of his guitars (because apparently, I seemed like I cared) and he grabbed this silver glittery one. And he was like, "it looks like it fell outta David Bowie's ass." So I replied "I love David Bowie," and he proceeded to tell me that I look like I fell out of David Bowie's ass. So, that just proves my theory that if I didn't have tits, I would look like the androdgynous bastard stepchild of David Bowie and Marc Bolan.
