Yeah, I so can't wait for this fanzine.....this should be awesome....I recall getting some of my old fanzine back in the day (way before the Net and all)...that was really the only way we found out any Stevie news at all....which of course by than it was outdated really. I love all the stories and pictures....I'd look at them for hours....the Rumours/Silver Springs/Dreams/and Belle Fleur/Mirror, Mirror....maybe others....still have them all....though I'm missing some Dreams copies and I think a couple early Mirror,Mirror ones too......there so awesome....you'll love them.....Thanks Barb........can't wait.....:blob2::D
Hey guys,
I am finishing up the free DVD that comes with the fanzine, so I can package everything up and ship it out!
I am shipping them out in the order of date ordered, so some are going out this week, and some next week, but they will ALL be out by the end of next week for sure, even new orders placed this week!
The cover is SO beautiful, I wish I could post it, but I want the issue to be a total surprise when you open it up, so you go "WOW" so I won't, LOL.
We are also going to be advertised in the Black Night Fanzine, which, if you haven't seen it, is GORGEOUS! It is worldwide, and a lot of Candace's fans are big fans of Stevie, too, and I am honoured to be associated with them.
Here is the link to their "MySpace":
http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=150240025
Kathy and Sue, look for your fanzines soon, girls! :)
A true "Flashback" to the days....

Well, at first I wasn't going to do it, months ago, but so many people seemed so excited, a lot that hadn't been around in our old fanzine days, like us old timers, LOL! It is so much fun to get something in the "real"
mail (just ask my eBay sellers, haha)...and I love looking forward to something Stevie coming in the mail, for sure!
I hope you love it!

I'm excited to see the fanzine, too. Just think, Barb...you've created a "collector's item"!!! I think the association with the Black Night fanzine is very cool, and a good way to find more Stevie fans.

Great!
I know I used to always love getting my fanzines back in the 90s, getting excited about seeing the colour cover, or even making "pen pals"...they had those back in the old days, where you actually wrote LETTERS to other Stevie fans :) That is how I met Sue, "Crystal Mirror" and another friend of mine in the UK. Some pen pals are online now!
I hope everyone will want to contribute something after issue one, a story, or a review, or a profile/photo. Everything can be submitted via eMail or snail mail.
Thanks for telling your friends about it!

I have some questions about your fanzine Barb.
Is it completely made up of "submissions" from fans or is there other professional pics included? I know you know Herbert, so I was curious if he gave you the ok to use any of his stuff in the fanzine.
Did you have to get an ok from stevie or someone in her camp?
Does calling a DVD full of stevie videos a "gift" make it legally ok to use them as an incentive to buy your fanzine? Even if they are just recorded off of tv as opposed to taken off of the commercially available dvd (that stevie has been on the road selling and promoting) that has many of the same vids?
I am worried you are opening yourself up to some legal action is all.

Hi!
The only contact from Stevie's management that I am able to reach about the fanzine WAS contacted, and I was able to run the idea by him, and it didn't seem to be a problem at all.
As far as the DVD, it is all videos recorded from the tv, not from her released DVD, and it is a gift, as clearly stated on the site, so basically it is the same thing as one fan trading a DVD of the same videos to another fan, what you are paying for is the Fanzine itself.
Issue one is mostly articles and photos (used by permission from various photographers, who are credited in the back of the issue), plus some fan input. I actually would LOVE more fan input for issue 2!
Thanks for your concern, I really do appreciate that, but I think we have it covered with all the possible problems, and if anyone from her camp wishes to contact me, I have all the records of sales,
and information,so I am happy to comply with them :)

Well then I hope she knows how much I love her banner. And I hope that she's okay with me using it. If not, just let me know and I can switch it. I just thought it was so cool.

I hate to be negative about other people's earnest attempts at contributing to the mystique, but a lot of the fanzines I've seen over the years have been stupid (virtually content-free) & shoddy (in craftsmanship). But Mike Bise delivered the goods in the mid 1990s with three excellent issues of Mirror Mirror. His opinions were thoughtful & sharp & expressed with clarity & style, & his design work was well above the Stevie fanzine timbre. He wrote articles on, inter alia, official & underground videos, demo timelines & analyses, karate lessons for the band, & the Lifetime Network concert-in-the-works for Stevie.

Mike did an EXCELLENT Job after he took over for the Enchantress (whatever happened to her?) with Mirror Mirror. It was a beautiful fanzine, truly.

is there any way we can get a fanzine, this or another, online? it may help with keeping costs down too. get one version finalized and then scan in at high resolution...just a thought.

I am sure someone will scan and post it, LOL, since it is a lot of text tho, that probably won't look very nice that way. I am presenting this with a ring binding, like a journal, with a full colour front and back, I am doing this as a throwback to the original fabulous fanzine days, so that is why I am not doing it online/downloads, that would ruin the fun of running to your mailbox! :] I want to mail people something real, that they can keep, rather than having to print it, and take it to a binder, etc. I do it all for them :)

rather than printing it and scanning it, you can always export it as a pdf and distribute it that way  then it would be free.

That still wouldn't be the idea I am going for, the old fanzine days, where something cool came in your mailbox, and if you didn't have a computer, you could still get it, I have had some people subscribe thru friends, who are not online, and they are just SO excited about the idea. I think the hard copy is a lot of fun for some people, and I enjoy putting my "special touch" on each one :)

What sorts of articles will you have? topics will you cover?
Pretty much articles from everywhere, and all topics, as well.
This is just Issue 1, so I hope to have lots of feedback after people receive it, of what they love and what they hate about it, or suggestions of stuff to add/change :)

I still have all my copies of Mirror, Mirror & Belle Fluer (missing the first complete on was on RAL though--with a different name? don't recall right now)...do you have a copy of the first couple of issues? Esp the RAL issue. I know I'd still love a copy of it....if not the original. It was awesome in the day when fanzine's were the 'only' way you could really get Stevie/Fmac info....before the Net that is. The Net is cool in it's own way. I personally still 'love' to have something in my own hands that I can feel and touch and look at over and over again even if I've read it all before. I love to get snail mail.....it's great. I'm thrilled.....thanks for all your hardwork , Barb, I sure hope to contribue to a future issue of the fanzine for sure....somehow that is. I like what the Enchantress did to with Silver Springs fanzine. Nice color pages. It was a great fanzine for it's time. Sad we only got 4 issues out of it though. Yeah, I wonder what happend to her? Wasn't her name like , Kathy? or something like that? To those that haven't expericed the 'old' fanzine days...get Barbs fanzine....I think you'll really enjoy it all.........:]

I think it WAS "Kathy", Sue, I met her at the Fleetwood Mac convention in Austin, but I couldn't remember her real name, never heard where she went or anything.
The fanzines were SO much fun, I think the most fun was getting it in the "real" mail, and looking thru the stuff, and such. There is SO much info and beautiful websites online,
that to do a fanzine "online" to me would be not worth the trouble, as it would be like visiting someone's great Stevie dedicated website, and there are so many of those, BUT, there are not ANY real fanzines which are mailed to your mailbox, with lots of surprises and fun! :) I want this fanzine to have the old school feel to it, before everyone had computers and websites and access to everything.. I just hope it is fun for you guys, too...

I only have the three he did with Eric Alvey:
Issue #1: Jan/Feb 1996
Issue #2: Spring 1996

The only drawback I found with these publications was the very overt anti-FM stance of the articles. Certainly, a Nicks fanzine writer is perfectly entitled to disparage & lambaste all the other members (& this was the Rumours incarnation), but it made reading the fanzine kind of prickly, from time to time, kind of a downer to me.
But when these guys concentrated just on Stevie news, there was so much excellent info that had been dug up from around the country & then compiled into literate analysis that the drawback was minimized.

It was awesome in the day when fanzine's were the 'only' way you could really get Stevie/Fmac info....before the Net that is.Well, way way back, we actually used to type up our lists & mimeograph them & mail them around to one another. This was back around 1980. We'd also add our news to the mimeograph. That's how we'd find out from our fan base what was happening on tours, &c., when the Pop Eye of the Calendar section of the L.A. Times (or the Random Notes in Rolling Stone) didn't cover something. And of course everyone was on the phone in those days too.
Do you guys remember the sad story of Jean Enloe & her aborted fanzine?
What is the status of the fanzine? I haven't received it yet.
