I will be uploading lots of various Stevie/FMac demos, outtakes and live stuff to send to someone and I'd hate for all that work and those links to be used for just one person...so, if you want to keep checking this thread, I'll be posting what I'm sending out.

for starters:
Street Angel demos and Outtakes

The Other Side of the Mirror demos and Outtakes

Trouble in Shangri-La demos and Outtakes

thank you so much. I finally was able to get through all of this.

I have questions on how you guys keep all this organized. do you do it by album era, then make a subfolder with the specific songs?? I have these plus a ton more, and I'm overwhelmed right now :o any help would be great.

^I'm with you Michelle. Part of my problem is knowing which demos are from which era. I'm not as good as all of you. I just don't know a good way or organizing and doing it quickly. I spent a day and a half last weekend organizing it somewhat, but it's still not great. Plus, I probably have a ton of duplicates but I don't know how to weed them out without spending a **** ton of time doing it. Now I'm working on making "album art" for my ipod for all of the "albums" I made with the various demos. Even with organizing, it is still in like 50 "albums". Oy. Overwhelmed indeed.

I try to organize all my demos by album that they relate to...I have a generic "album" I call "Demos, Outtakes, Rarities" that I file everything under until I figure out where it belongs.

I have been working on an Excel spreadsheet for almost a year now trying to track all videos, demos, live stuff, etc. and it is neverending. I'm OCD and so that doesn't help. if I do ever finish it or get it to a point that I'm happy with it, I'll share.

BTW, JohnnyStew, could you please go ahead and make this a sticky?

also, let's not limit this to just demos. start posting live boots as well. try to only post complete concerts though and not partials, if you can. thanks everyone. I think this is helping a lot of fans. I'll get back to posting stuff as soon as I have a break.

^That would be really cool, Jaz. I'm with you. I'm totally OCD about this **** and it is driving me nuts that I don't have my demos organized better and that I probably have a ton of duplicates. As far as the duplicates, I don't know how to weed them out without sitting and listening to everything because some people title them differently than others. One of my other problems is that I just don't know what era some of the demos are from unless someone tells me. I have not the knowledge of you and Vanessa. I have been working on an Excel spreadsheet for almost a year now trying to track all videos, demos, live stuff, etc. and it is neverending. I'm OCD and so that doesn't help. if I do ever finish it or get it to a point that I'm happy with it, I'll share.
I know how much space this stuff takes up on my computer, but I get so unorganized when it comes to this stuff, I sometimes end up downloading twice. This friday I'm Taking my laptop and making myself a spreadsheet of the stuff I do have already, and Im gonna keep adding. Then since i only have a puny 4 gig ipod mini, I cant even fit it all in my itunes, since its such a big production to move songs around...

BTW-does anybody know how to convert Mp3s into wma files or anything else that takes up less space, i know certain types of files take up less space than Mp3s, and that would be easier for me to be able to have more songs in my ipod....

Brian J. posted this link in another demo thread - it hasn't been updated in a while, but it's still a good start for those of you who are just starting your collections.

http://www.geocities.com/the3birdsofrhiannon/index.html - Go to the "Trading" link or the "Stevie Nicks" lyrics link.

There is also a list of the Master Reels there, but I'm not sure if it is complete. I think Brian has a complete list somewhere, if he would be kind enough to share. (Brian? :xoxo: )

^Thanks! I went and printed out the lists! I didn't realize there was [I]that much[I] out there. I think I'm more overwhelmed now. The big problem I have is that I don't really know what versions of songs I have unless they are labeled as such. And I recently changed some of the "album" names in i-tunes because I thought I was organizing them better when I actually deleted some of the correct names, i.e. Demos #7. I just thought that was some name that somebody gave to their stuff. And I'll never be able to go back in and fix it now. Oh well, I might have to calm my OCD and live with some level of disorganization.

I organize my stuff by song name, unless it's a live show or complete master reel, which I keep intact as a set. I gave up on organizing by album a long time ago, since so many songs were recorded during multiple album sessions and since there is so much conflicting information. (For instance - the Julia #5 Outtake first came to me 15 years ago on a cassette labelled as Wild Heart outtakes...)

Instead I create playlists thru my media player - Unreleased Songs, Bella Donna Outtakes, Piano Demos Only, etc etc That way a song can be accessible thru a number of different playlists without having multiple copies in different folders on my PC.

Now I really feel like ****, thanks Chuck! My OCD just went through the roof.

Well, I just went through last weekend and organized stuff in a few albums, Bella Donna Outtakes (if I know that they are in fact BD outtakes), demos, live, interview, etc.

A pretty generic organization, but better than what I had.

The MR list should be easy enough - it's correlating all the "old demos" with the master list that sounds the trickiest.

I did something very similar. i totally gave up trying to organize demos by album era because so many demos were worked on for multiple albums. I got a huge list from the trading ring, similar to Sara's old list and I just try to keep track of what I download by referring to that. I have a folder for every letter of the alphabet and I put all the "A" songs (After the Glitter Fades, All the Beautiful Worlds..ETC) in one folder, the "B" songs in another, and so on. I refer to my list and see what I need. I keep everything named exactly like I download it, but may add something extra so I can reference it. This has always worked for me. Many times, when things are very similar, I can tell what is what by the length of the song. Sara listed the running time of each demo and that helped me tremendously. I am still far from what I would call organized but at least I know that I am not downloading things multiple times and putting them in five different folders.

I finally was able to download again and OMG!! That was great! I was dying. That was the first I've ever actually *heard* her ask for a joint. LOL In this session - who is Rick that is she talking to that is in a band? (Rick Springfield????) Is 'Herbie' Worthington? (She asked him for candles and incense). She also mentioned Tom playing bass I assume this is Tom Petty, although I didn't hear him talking at all. I'm also assuming this is from 1980? Thanks for posting these! The Buckingham Nicks live was great too. Does anyone know where this was taped? Also - it listed Long Distance Winner but it's missing.

Does anyone have any others??? My ipod is nearly full, but I'm willing to delete some songs for more of these great demos.

Thanks David, but was this Rick Nowels in a band? The way she was talking he was in a band. Could it be the guy from The Cars? (Thanks Gail!) Just curious. He sounded like a big shot, the way she was talking to him. I don't remember seeing any of his writing credits on Bella Donna, but do recognize the name from Rock A Little. I think this was recorded in 1980. And I think it was him that handed her the joint. LOL "For sure! For sure!" Hahaha

At long last - here's what I have for The Wild Heart.

I had these buried in a folder entitled "Find Better Copies" because - wow - most of these sound horrible. But better something than nothing, right?

There are a few outstanding ones, tho - like the master reel take of "All the Beautiful Worlds" which still takes my breath away every time I listen. And there are 2 versions of the "Wild Heart" dressing room performance because one sounds pretty good, but the other includes Stevie singing "Love in Store" a cappella at the beginning (even though the whole thing is lacking in quality). How in the hell could I ever delete that?

Enjoy!

I received this thru the tradevine, but I believe it originated from someone on Seven Wonders around the time Crystal Visions was released. A "what CV could have been" collection, if you will.

Whoever compiled it did an amazing job gathering together all (most?) of Stevie's unavailable single and promo mixes. All the tracks sound amazing - even the vinyl-sourced ones, and the entire set also has a nice flow. Very listenable.

I had to divide it into two parts, because the zip file ended up being 2 Megs larger than Mediafile allows.

Enjoy!

I know I haven't contributed to this thread in a while, but I know there are a lot of new Ledgies that can get some stuff in here.

How do you copy your files like that to post here? very cool! (I don't mean the actual songs, i mean the 'picture' of your files??I can help you with that. It depends of which operating system you are using. I'll give you directions for Windows and hope it will be right for you. Open the music folder you want to make an image of and select "list" from your "view" menu at the top. Now press "print screen" on your keyboard. You should be able to find that key. Now, go to your "Paint" software (if you've never used it, it should be in your list of accessories accessed from your start menu under "all programs"). With Paint opened, go to the "edit" menu and select "paste". Your screen shot will now appear. First go to "Image" at the top, and set your attributes small, to about 10 on both width and height and save the setting. To crop out just the list area that you want to save, click on the rectangular tool in the toolbox and starting at one corner of the image area you want to save, hold your left mouse button down and drag the tool to the opposite corner until you see a dotted line around the exact area you want to isolate. If you mess up, left click the area to reset it. Once you have the area selected, right click and select "copy". Now go to "file" and select "new". Next, go to "Edit" and select "paste", and there you have it. Now go to file, and select "save as", give it a name, and make sure you save it as a "jpeg" in the drop-down menu. I hope this helps. If this is not the OS you have, just let me know and I can help you further. This is just one of many ways to do this, but almost everyone has this software.
