Okay who is going?

SNLB and I are front row Pit!:blob2: Who else is going? Fess Up! It's only 4 more days. Let me tell you that we literally sweated-out these past three weeks here in SoCal just waiting for those pesky-Pit tickets to go on sale. Nobody knew, until last week the who, the what, the when, and the how. But something told me that they would eventually be sold. Gawd it was torture.

But now that we have those little babies in hand we are as happy as ticks on a old coon-hound.:blob2: WooWhee!

TACA, an organization for parents of autistic children, had exclusive rights to selling 100 Pit tickets. The rest are being given away this week, every 15 minutes between 5:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m., on 93.1 JackFM. They were never available through TM.

JackFM notified everyone that registered, on their website as a loyal listener, (via email) that TACA would be selling Pit tickets on Thursday last week. They only gave us two days notice and never put it up on their web-site so a lot of people missed out. In any event they were completely sold out by 9:30 pm. the day they went on sale through TACA's website. And, yes, as Btlfulchild said, they cost $500 a pair. But, that includes VIP parking, 2 Jack Tshirts, 4 key chains, 2 bumper stickers and, of course, 2 tax deductible, Pit tickets. Since SNLB and I were among the first to order, we got front row.

I'm sure Stevie will be last. It should be a fab day. I went to KLOS's Mark & Brian concert at PAC Amp last Saturday, and Paul Rodgers (the headliner) was last. That was a 4 hour concert with three bands. The first two blew but they were worth suffering through just to hear Paul Rodgers sing all his fantastic hits and get to shake his hand. He puts on an excellent show and really interacts with his audience.

We're thinking each band will play about 45 minutes with Stevie playing about an hour. We will see. TM has crap seats but scalpers are sitting on a mountain of inventory and if you play your cards right you could easily get a good deal on Orch rows A/B right now. There are at least 17 seats in Orch B out there and the prices are starting to come down.

I didn't do bad. I could've spent a lot more and gotten WAY up front, but I got ORCH Row K , for only $128 each, that's only like 40 bucks over face value! I say not bad. I always go through ticketmark.com, they have great prices, and I trust them ,as I've used them many times (Plus I had a $15 off coupon with them I hadn't used yet!!) It's gonna be a great show. I'm always excited for Stevie obviously, but I'm also equally excited to see the Pretenders--which I've never seen live. I think Sugar Ray will be fun too.

Sugar Ray is fun - I saw them with Stevie back in '01 during a radio concert thing similar to this one.

I hope everyone has fun. :woohoo: I was gonna try for the giveaway pit seats by calling in, but the number won't go through since I live in San Diego. Oh well. I'll count my blessings as I've been able to see Stevie twice this year already.

Prices have come down for you last minute buyers. :] Cheappricedtickets has 2nd row Pit for about $400 a pair (that includes 15 percent service fee.) TM is also releasing some orchestra tickets I noticed. Sure they are in the back right now but that's better than the loge they have been offering since day one and who knows, by the end of the day, they could be closer to the front.

Only one more day to go. I can't wait!

Brief Report For Now!

Temperatures soared yesterday at Verizon and We held center stage as usual. Stevie did 10 songs. They had problems with the video presentation so they Nixed that which wasn't really missed. What was missed was her Edge walk because of the barriers they erected in front of the stage. She walked the edge of the stage but could only wave. No band intro either.

The show was shortened because (a) Irvine has an 11:00 p.m. curfew and (b) they added a last minute act.

Set List::blob2: :]
1. Stand Back
2. Enchanted
3. If Anyone Falls
4. Riannon
5. Dreams
6. Gold Dust Woman
7. I Need To Know
8. Landslide
9. Edge of 17
10.Rock and Roll

A shout-out to SNLB, Shebop, and Joanna, who like me, stood at the stage through all of the opening acts (4hrs) to assure our spot. Reminded me of how we did the same thing at the HOB in Anaheim for Lindsey back in June. But as all you Ledgies know it was worth the effort.

Stevie rocked even though she got so confused because of the time constraints put on her to be off by 11:00 p.m. that she left the stage for a wardrobe change when she wasn't scheduled to do that. She came back and shared her goof-up with the audience and it was nice to she her so spontaneous.

The girls had new outfits on and Brett was back on keyboards. Waddy even had a new outfit. Everyone was allowed to take as many pictures as we wanted to including extented videos and of course we did. I will upload some to Snapfish but can't do videos because of my system. I'm sure SNLB will though.

MY JACK FM SHOW REVIEW :

So the Jack FM show was f-ing amazing..I'll say that Stray Cats, Pretenders and Sugar Ray all put on a helluva show..I'm not a big ZZ Top fan, but they rocked the place as well.

First off the crowd was great, lots of pot, drunks and beach balls, but VERY lively. I'd say 70% stood and danced throughout the entire show, through everyone's set. It was like a carnival atmosphere at Irvine Meadows (now known as Verizon Wireless) Amphitheater. Booths everywhere, giveaways, lots of food, and a HUGE diversity of many different types of people. The show was sold out, and it was people galore all the way to the lawn..At first everything was delayed about 15 mins from the beginning, but they threw in a surprise set by rapper Tone Loc (known for Wild Thing and Funky Cold Medina)--who did about 4 songs I think...

So Stevie actually didn't come out till about 9:30 (instead of 8:30). She would have came out early, but you could tell her crew was NOT used to setting up in such short notice. Her set took the longest to build and get right. You can tell she's a perfectionist. Even though they had a rotating set, and hers was set up basically while ZZ Top was playing, the technical stuff wasn't. Her stage/sound girl tested EVERY instrument and mic on stage with the sound crew to the point where she was at Stevie's mic saying "Stevie vocal, Stevie vocal, Stevie vocal" and the same with "Jana vocal" etc until it was "perfect." They kept tweaking with Stevie's backdrop screen, and never got it to work fully. So when Stevie came out, there was no screens at all, which was kind of odd, just a big black curtain behind her set.

It seemed like it would be a little odd having Stevie close the show, since the Pretenders and ZZ Top were much more "rock" than Stevie it seemed, if that made sense...but it worked. She got a major response from the audience..The setlist was:

Stand Back
Enchanted
If Anyone Falls
Rhiannon
Dreams
Gold Dust Woman
I Need to Know
Landslide
Edge of Seventeen
Rock N Roll

There was a curfew, which Stevie mentioned, so she did seem a little rushed, especially getting off to a late start. Her voice also seemed a little hoarse at first, but it got better as it went. The humidity was intense yesterday, and Stevie's hair showed it. It was a "WHOLE LOTTA frizz.." sometimes it worked though. When the wind was blowing (Rarely) it looked cool, she had that messy wind blown look, a la Part I. of The Dance video.

Stand Back was a great opener for this show, because of the upbeat atmosphere. She did the high kick and all, and the "ooooh lala you could be standing in A line!!!" and all..Everyone was dancing to this one. It was really cool seeing this HUGE arena packed all dancing while Stevie sang. I must say though I missed the screens during Stand Back. It provides cool lighting, and makes her show seem much more "larger than life" if that makes sense.

During Rhiannon, her voice was rough in the beginning during the piano intro (I found the piano intro a little odd for this crowd, considering every other set before Stevie's was all rock and guitars, not even one slow song from anyone)..the crowd seemed like they didn't know what to do during this..(some went to the bathroom, but rushed back when the guitars kicked in). She did do the "WELLLLLLLL I DON'T THINK YOU DO!" in her fierce and mean way she did it on the Gold Dust Tour (Much of the Crystal Visions tour she did it a little different, and not as strong)---so I was glad to see that back..
Annnnnd in the end of Rhiannon, surprisingly she did the high notes on "Willl you take me with you to the skyyyyyy..dream on..you cant leave.." etc etc..I was very surprised to hear her do a couple of those lines in a higher Stevie of the old days register.

I didn't realize till halfway through the set that Brett Tuggle was back on keyboards. Always enjoy having him back.
She didn't talk as much, because there wasn't enough time..she did talk a little bit before "Dreams" saying it was written along time ago in Slystone's Studio in LA. When she said "and it's called Dreams" the crowd erupted. This was a big sing along for the crowd. People twirling in the audience and slow dancing...lots of pot floating around of course.

She ran off the stage after Rhiannon, and I wondered why she was changing again...She came back with her Rhiannon dress on, but with a sparkly top. Turns out, as she explained, she got confused because of the time constraints/shortened set and wasn't supposed to change yet. She said everyone was like yelling "go back why are you back here?!?!?" but she changed anyway since she was back there..

Then after "Dreams" she said "ok now we're at the part we're supposed to be at" and ran off stage again. She was getting her Gold Dust shawl on...GDW was another crowd favorite, although I've heard better versions. The "Scream/wail" wasn't very intense during this one..

People were really into "I Need to Know," and so was Stevie..She was rocking out, lots of fun. Perfect for this JACK Fm show..She did a very brief intro to "Landslide" and the crowd of course loved it. Lighters and cell phones in air, everyone seemed to be singing along. I missed the screens again during this one...

I was disappointed when she ran off stage after Landslide and the drum solo began. I knew that meant no "How Still My Love." That has been one of my favorites from this tour. After Lenny's solo, Jimmy started his, and lighting crew messed up and the spotlight was still on Lenny, and Jimmy wasn't to be seen, but was playing. Lenny was PISSED. He was yelling and throwing his hands in the air and pointing at Jimmy, finally the lighting ppl got the clue and put a spotlight on Jimmy also. Lenny just shook his head in disgust after that, was a little funny.

Edge of Seventeen was great...Stevie did an AMAZING "scream." One of the best I've seen. But again the lighting people had it wrong and didn't do the flashing lights on her like they normally do during the screen, it was just kind of dark during it. There was no "Edge Walk" because of the stage setup, but Stevie danced in the end and did go to each part of the stage to wave and blow kisses. People seemed to like that..

Rock N Roll was a blast, she came out and did her usual high kick at Waddy..and really was in great form. No "OWWW!!!" at the end last night though. She complimented JACK FM and told us to "go request music!!" and they left. I wasn't ready for it to be over. No band intros either tonight...

Overall, aside from the technical glitches, it was an amazing show. Aside from Stevie of course, the Pretenders were my second favorite. Chrissie Hynde gave 3 shout outs to Stevie during her set. During one song changed the lyric to "LIKE STEVIE NICKS!" which drew a roar from the crowd, and on another while playing tambourine she went to the mic and said "Stevie Nicks" and twirled. That was cute. Then towards the end of her set, she complimented all the other bands..And said "if any of you want to roll me a joint, I'll be in the lawn with you guys watching Stevie Nicks during her set!"

Jana was beside the stage through the first 3 acts dancing and watching, then came out into the audience with her boyfriend during the Pretenders. She kept taking pictures of them with her camera phone. She had to move though when some lady let her know she was in her seat. Jana seemed to LOVE the Pretenders, and was doing lots of dancing. Her boyfriend and her go together well. He waved at her a lot during Stevie's set.

Why the barriers? Don't know. I found out something interesting though talking with stage security-most were unpaid Marines from Camp Pendleton. The kid in front of us was really nice and even tried to give Stevie the flowers that I had brought but the paid security guy told him not to.

SNLB, who was with me, said that last year, there were no barricades during the video of Cheap Trick that she saw on the net-whether that was so for the whole show I don't know. It was a bummer to say the least. We were hoping that they would take the fencing down before Stevie's set but that didn't happen. I got to shake her hand and touch her boot at Soboba so I'm good for another year but would have liked to have gotten a second helping at Jacks show. This was the first time that I had been to Verizon in several years and I just thought it was par for the course. Interesting to learn it is not.

Rockin' good nostalgia at Jack's Second Show

OCRegister (http://http://www.ocregister.com/entertainment/jack-time-cats-1814542-stray-top)
Granted, both Top and Fleetwood Mac's gypsy woman made wise use of their time. Stevie stopped at all the obvious signposts: "Stand Back" to open, "Edge of Seventeen" near the end, plenty of Mac in the middle, though in her quest to set her versions apart from the originals, she needlessly elongates and overplays "Rhiannon," "Dreams" and "Gold Dust Woman."

Pretenders and Stray Cats stand out at Jack FM concert
dailybulletin.com (http://http://www.dailybulletin.com/lifestyle/ci_6666567)

Stevie Nicks went on until shortly before 10 p.m. She seemed agitated about the amphitheatre's curfew and that her set would be cut short. After one song, she went backstage for a costume change and realized it was at the wrong time (at least Nicks was honest in admitting this to the crowd).

Little had changed from recent solo tours. Overwrought synthesizer and electronic drums signaled "Stand Back." The nine-piece band tended to overwhelm Nicks' voice (a middling sound mix didn't help). Clad in flowing black chiffon dress, the Fleetwood Mac chanteuse sashayed across the stage. "If Anyone Falls" suffered from dated '80s production and shouty vocals.

Instead of relying on her other solo hits, Nicks concentrated on Mac faves and all worked well. A soft piano instrumental preceded "Rhiannon," "Dreams" was lush and smooth and "Gold Dust Woman" had more of dramatic flair. Nicks, wearing her trademark shawls, twirled and sang into a microphone stand draped in beads.

Tom Petty rocker "I Need to Know" was dashed off, then Nick said, "this song is about compromise." The acoustic-based version of the Mac's "Landslide" had some guys singing along with their girlfriends. A percussion heavy "Edge of 17" closed the main set.

Carol and I each signed up. We were told 5 people would get picked to meet each of the bands and each person would get to bring a friend. I signed up for the Stray Cats and Carol signed up for Stevie. They wanted to text message you to get a hold of you if you won. I don't have a cel phone and Carol didn't have hers so we had to put our seat numbers. I'm not exactly sure when the people were notified since the show started around 5:30. Obvious to say, neither of us won. Sigh. Nevertheless, I had a great time!

Here are a couple of Stevie pictures I took:

As Gloria said, we did sign up, but since we didn't have a cell phone I figured that our chances of winning were next to none. I figured that they wouldn't try hunting us down. We never left the stage after the 3rd act.

None of the Ledgies that we met up with at the show, won the meet and greet. I'm not one bit lucky so I didn't expect to win but just having the chance to take so many pictures/videos so close without being hassled was good enough for me. Gloria had two cameras going and I had the one. I was able to tape Stand Back and Gold Dust Woman (8 minutes alone) in their entirety-something no other venue has ever let me do.

I didn't think there were that many technical problems and I was right in front of Stevie during the entire set. Take it from me, the concert was great and Stevie was electrifyingly good. End of story. Believe me some people can find fault with perfection. Again, it was a charity show for gosh sakes! What was noteworthy was that Jacks (and the bands) raised over $40,000 for autistic children. Not that this or that wasn't up to par.

The only thing that I noticed was that one of the two keyboard players was not in synch at the beginning of two songs so it sounded as if Stevie was singing off key when in actuality she was not. I attributed that to the fact that Brett was not on tour with Stevie this summer and may have come in cold, at the last minute, as a favor to Stevie.

Can't wait to see if she does Vegas again.

I do , It's part of my trade.Of course Stevie's performance is very important, she tries to do the best, when technical problems happen. This reminds me of about that bad sound and video problem at FM Say you Will 2004 jones beach show, also Stevie's CBS Superbowl crappy audio problem sucks.Stevie was very lucky at this years Jones Beach appearence, I thought the sound/video crew did an awesome job dealing with the weather and the hightides.
On the other note , hey thanks for the awesome photos, and I hope somebody capture the show on tape for us to share.also I stayed tune to the jackfm stream for 5 hours, they played Stevie once as I was tuned in.it's a nice radio format anyway, New York lost theirs on WCBS FM,to oldies. As I know of Connecticut has none in the jackfm format.thats why CT radio sucks big time.how many top 40 crap stations and hip hop stations we really nead.

The point is that it was a benefit concert that raised a lot of money for a worthy cause and there weren't any real "difficulties" technical or otherwise.

The critics are just making much to do about nothing. Stevie rocked Irvine!:]

MacFan,

Both SNLB and I filmed a lot of the concert. I have a solid 20 minutes myself. The only thing is, I have dial-up and I can't figure out how to upload it. SnapFish won't let me and one of the other services I tried said it would take days.

I have an 8 minute video of Gold Dust Woman from the show that is killer and would love to share with the community but don't know how. Any suggestion on how to do that with dial-up. You might want to check out my photos on snapfish too.

Carol, you keep saying it was a charity concert like it was something in someone's home or a bake sale or something. This was a huge radio-sponsored event in an amphitheater. Believe me, Stevie got paid for this gig. $40K is a nice donation and great that some of the $$ went to charity, but that's about $4 per ticket.

In other words, this was not a "charity concert", but a moneymaking concert with very small proceeds going to charity. Given that, it is perfectly reasonable for a critic to note things that went wrong. I'm not saying Stevie did anything wrong, and I'm sure it was a great show, but I disagree with you that somehow there should be no criticism because a tiny percentage of the profits went to a charity.

There were many, not to say it's a bad show though. I think her visual screens really would've added to the show, especially considering she was following ZZ Top who had a great light show...It made her show seemed more "tame." It was good, don't get me wrong, but some of the technical errors were annoying. Like when Jimmy was playing and the lights were not on him, they were on Lenny, and Lenny is yelling and telling them to put the lights on Jimmy!

Also Stevie's spotlight went off of her at the wrong times a few times

All I said was that people could/should be more forgiving and less critical because it was a charity event that raised $40,000 for autistic kids and that the technical difficulties weren't that obvious. Since you in particular were not there, and I was, I would think, that a reasonable person would accept the fact that I just might have a valid point and leave it at that. So my question is: Are you a reasonable person?

If you are then kindly re-read my posts and you will quickly learn that I never once said that the artists donated their time and that no one make a profit. Nor did I intimate that the event was an amateurish or homey event as you erroneously surmised from my statement that it was "a charity event."

Kelly,

I respectfully disagree with your observation that "the sound is not that great in the front row." It was great. I was there-were you?

I was there, while not in the front row, I was in Row 15, I found that the sound was not so bad..It was more the lighting problems and visual problems that annoyed me
. The blogger made a good point, that if the crowd was all Stevie fans it wouldn't have been a big deal, but we as fans kind of are always wanting Stevie to be portrayed in the best light..At this show she was headlining, after other huge artists, and her set just seemed to not be as big as their's, even though she was billed as the headliner..

I just would have liked for all those other casual fans and maybe non-fans to see the REAL Stevie show, with the great lighting and visual effects she has added into her set as of late. I'm just big on technical things like lighting I suppose.

1 - How is Dreams elongated? Am I missing something? Yes, the Rhiannon intro and the ending of GDW do make them a bit longer than their original 4 minutes, but Dreams?

2 - Aren't all versions of Landslide acoustic? I mean, they're obviously amplified, but on acoustic guitar...am I missing something on this too?

What does being at the concert have to do with anything? You keep saying people should be "forgiving" of certain things because it's a charity event and I'm saying that this wasn't really charity event, rather a big radio-sponsored concert with a tiny bit of proceeds going to a charity. I see no logic in your argument. And I think a critic who attended the show has a right to express his/her opinion. You can disagree with the opinion, but instead you choose to say that the critic should be more forgiving because $40K went to charity.

I didn't have to be at the show to disagree with your premise. I didn't respond until you stated your flawed argument for the zillionth time.

I was not at this particular show but I have been front row at dozens of Stevie/Mac shows. Have you? Even the sound techs who work for Stevie would tell you that the sound is better several rows back. From my own personal experience, the sound is more muffled/distorted if you are directly in front of the speakers. Maybe the front row sound was better at this show, because they weren't right up at the stage. They had a barricade, with guards in between the front row people and the stage..so They were really about 6ft from the speakers in the front row.

Having now read the Storms book thread and this post, I've got Carol figured out. She is shocked when anyone disagrees with her, accuses people of attacking her when they are just attacking the argument, then goes on to attack others while accusing them of being bullies who are trying to silence her. I give her props: it is a really complex set of behaviors. Then she adds some unnecessary and insincere platitudes like "have a nice day" and hearts to make it look like she's a really nice person who rises above it all.

Never seen someone so transparent.

No one bullies you, Carol. You state an opinion, someone will disagree. That's why it's a discussion board. Perhaps you should just keep a diary.
