I'm waiting a few days, just to be diplomatic. But yeah, if it's really down I'm definitely going to have some things to say about it all. Here's my first thoughts, though, as a "long-term" board member who decided to "stick with it" for whatever crazy reason -
Personally I think the trouble started all the way back in January. The "smiley faces" were really cool there but he arbitrarily changed them to gray sucky ones. Many people asked him why, both in P.M. and in a thread, and he totally blew them off. Granted maybe it was a server thing, maybe it was something he couldn't control, whatever. But in my mind it was the first sign of trouble between "The Wizard" ( :shocked: :rolleyes: ) and board members. It was completely disrespectful to not answer simple, polite inquiries about it. Busy? Maybe, but there's other examples.
The best way I could describe it is that he not only had developed a complete disrespect for members of his own board, he had developed a downright disdain for them - he actually, literally looked down on them.
Assuming it's true that it's permanently down - well - did he actually tell anyone he was going to do this? Or did he just immediately take it down on some arbirary day without giving anyone a real heads-up and without regard to other's feelings?
It's actually scary in a way - granted this isn't "real life" but I think this guy probably has no respect for anyone in real life either; and doesn't give one whit about people's feelings or the consequences of his actions in real life. It's hard to picture somone being this rude and uncaring towards others on the Internet and not behaving that way in real life. And if he thinks he's a fan, he's got another thing coming there also.

Jazmen, it really is a disgrace that he suddenly has to "save up"? for services already rendered. I can't even believe that. If you are going to be nice enough to wait, then I would certainly give him a deadline. I also wouldn't hold my breath for payment either.

There are also not going to be any refunds on the supporting memberships. As far as I'm concerned there was never a proviso that if a member were to be banned they would forfeit any possible refund. Besides, the supporting memberships never entailed posting priveleges, just unlimited PM's and access to PM's along with "earlier" news on upcoming events. So, while my posting priveleges were taken away with the ban, what I paid for never should have been.

I really hope if the board was taken down he at least had the courtesy of notifying the members so they could have their contact info and such from their PM's...

Enough of my rant, it's just that the whole thing makes me sick.

And yes Brian I am speaking my mind on the Ledge... I know you find that tacky and distasteful but I have a right to do what I want...

I wasn't too worried. I paid via Paypal on a CC. If, after a reasonable amount of time, I didn't get a refund I would simply charge it back. If the money was already gone...then I don't know. The whole thing did go down in a strange way though.

I know you're upset and angry and want to call him out on it, but please just do it privately. You don't have to like him or even acknowledge him on 7W. But bringing it to the board and getting everyone else involved is not the best way to handle it.

You know why the banned members were banned - it was for sharing private information/emails. It wasn't personal (despite popular belief). Actually what that ****head did was in direct violation of the zero tolerance policy... Most of the original 39 only signed in to a different message board..what a dumbass!

So he went and banned everyone on their mothers, went back and read what he thought was something horrible, realized it wasn't what he thought it was, and then didn't unban anyone to "set an example."

in my view, if someone wants to come and talk, that's cool. but i don't want to see all the petty windchild drama~~~. that **** is so yesterday, and it doesn't fly here... which is why i think it's so prevalent on other boards.

Yes... if Marty and Lis are willing to accept Monopoly money. The last time I met up with Brian a couple of years ago he was still renting a room in a small house way out in the boonies of eastern Nassau County (Long Island). And he has this strange fetish for pre-owned "expensive" luxury cars, which he tended to wreck with frightening consistency. But who knows... maybe he hit a windfall during the past couple of years :shrug:, but given his inability to successfully finance that private Stevie show, I doubt he has the liquidity to buy the Penguin and the Ledge. Plus given his persona non grata status around here, I doubt he would bother.

And I am sure Marty and Lis are looking for way more than $2000. I'll bet the fleetwoodmac.net URL alone is worth more than that.

Re: 7W... it was never my cup of tea, but some people seemed to take to it. Honestly, I'm surprised Brian would give it up. He craves power and attention, and being a board administrator gave him a sense of importance in the fan community, I believe. Unfortunately, those who crave power are usually the first to abuse it.

But the Penguin admins ported a good deal of content from Jeff Kenney's old site onto the Penguin in the early days, which really helped make it the top history site for Fleetwood Mac. I liked the site, I met many great friends who I enjoyed chatting with and still do with many of them here or other boards. I have been a member here for a couple years and while I rarely post, I do read the different threads. I personally started the original thread here on Seven members when I and 39 of my friends were all banned. I did so as I known many of the 7W people came here too. I knew they would here my voice as well as many others about what happened and get the truth. Sadly, some members here since then have made sure any new members coming here would feel out of place. They could not feel they could share their love of FM and Stevie without personally attacked. This is a shame as the whole reason we all come to a board is to share what we enjoy. Hopefully as the dust settles down, we do not see each other as ledgies or 7 wanders but as FM and Stevie fans. Just my personal thoughts about all this.

I don't think disliking how he treated SO MANY of his "members" is being childish, and if the board comes back with a "disguised" Brian, or something, it would be a disaster, and I guess we will have to see what it comes back as, before making any assumptions.

Another time I joined a Yahoo group started by Michelle Bella Donna for tribby bands. It didn't last very long, & I didn't learn much about the tribby band environment from the members. Everyone talked in platitudes.

Maybe the "new" 7 Wonders board will be a new owner, and be awesome.

I guess when the Ledge is transferred, if anyone had problems with its owners Marty and Lisa, they would be happy. I have never had any problems with Marty and Lisa, just as you haven't had any with Brian.
I don't think disliking how he treated SO MANY of his "members" is being childish, and if the board comes back with a "disguised" Brian, or something, it would be a disaster, and I guess we will have to see what it comes back as, before making any assumptions.
I DID have major problems with "Brian", as did many of his long time members who were treated like crap. I don't respect or like anyone who can treat people one way, when they want something, but then treat them so shabby at their own whim, that is trashy to me.

Yes, it's a whole different ball game. Marty & Lisa have been responsible, kind hosts of the board. Brian had not. And I don't think it's just an opinion to say it wasn't fair that Brian never paid Jaz for his performance - that's fact.

I don't think it is finished "coming back", it goes into maintenance mode from what I have heard.
I think a few people had posted when I visited just a bit ago, "Cookie" and "Marianne" I believe.

I guess there are some more tweaks to do. I am surprised all of the old threads are there, I was hoping the "categories" would remain, Stevie, Chit Chat, etc. but the old fights and negativity could be erased, and the new board could start new? Maybe that is too much trouble, I don't know anything about running such a board.

Actually, no.. there was "NO" good reason, since I had already "LEFT" the board!!...:lol: The list owner was notified as for the 'RIGHTFULL" truth of it all! I "LOVE IT" when people "ASSUME" they KNOW all facts, and haven't the FIRST clue! If YOU need facts, my suggestion to YOU is- you contact the "SOURCE" to find them out first!:p
