Bobby is one of about five guys that I see. I was in a 9 year relationship that ended 18 months ago, so I am having a blast being single. But Bobby is a real sweetheart -- funny as **** and great in bed. We have a good time.

Travolta was funny but that weird accent bothered me at some points. You know who I really loved? Michelle Pfeiffer! She was hilarious.
After the movie, we were all talking about how cool it would have been to have had a Corny Collins show in our city when we grew up. That would have been awesome.

on edit: Penny Pinkelton was FABULOUS! LOL

Yea..The accent was an odd choice I thought. Penny was great!
Michelle was really good too. A 9 year relationship is a long time.
Glad to hear you are having fun. You deserve it. :p
Loved Allison "Devil Child, Devil Child!" Janney!!!

There were a few good parts, but overall I didn't love it. I did think Michelle Pfeiffer and Christopher Walken were great though.

I forgot about Walken -- wasn't he great???
It's a cute summer musical. It's like GREASE to me -- sing a long songs and tons of lines that you can quote with your friends. Perfect fluff.

He really was. Then again I've never seen him in anything that I didn't like. I even liked him in that god awful Stepford Wives remake.

I read that he was trying to do a Baltimore accent ("I'm tryna orn" = "I'm trying to iron"). But as someone who grew up in Maryland, I have never, ever heard that accent. Maybe that accent is native to Closetland   .

Yes I did!

Really? In the ads I thought it sounded kinda Minnesota-ish, but what do I know.

ANYWAY, I loved the first one, and Travolta will probably be the thing that keeps me away from this one. Has anyone else noticed how much they were pushing him in the TV ads at first, and now it seems they don't show him at all?

The MN accent is bad, but it's not THAT bad. I don't know what the hell Travolta was going for.

Walken and Bette owned.

I am resisting seeing this movie just because I love the original movie so much. I'll probably see it once it hits BB.

Bobby? WTF? This is the first I've ever heard of Bobby!?! It's always been Jason, Jason, Jason!!

I haven't seen the movie yet (and won't until it's on cable or DVD, I loathe going to the movies) but on the commercials, Travolta's accent reminds me of Tootsie. And Walken just rules in everything he's in.

My Brucie Bear and I, his Toogems, were trying to keep it a secret. But, now that you know - you can stand on his side of the aisle at the chruch

I havent mentioned Bobby?!?!?? :sorry:
I met him at work - he's a complete doll. I might have talked him into going to ACL, so you can meet him then!

Jason is still in the picture. He's actually on his way over here now. I'm making dinner - Sylvia's fabulous pork chop recipe with spicy green beans and wild rice. And, of course, a heaping spoonful of applesauce!!

LMAO

Christina, one of my oldest and dearest friends, said that to me the other day. But I'll tell you what, I am having fun. I have 18 and 21 year old boys - hot boys - calling me up every weekend and I know that it wont always be this way, so I am going to take advantage of it while I can.
Life is good. I would be crazy to complain about a thing.

I dont know why, but films of this kind really irritate me. I don't find them entertaining in the least. Like Grease and Rent (actually Rent had its moments)...*shudder*...I'd generally rather have a #2 lead pencil shoved into my eye though.

Well, I had a blast, but I do love musicals ;) The accent was wierd, but John Travolta was awesome and funny. And the march scene!

I'm currently watching the original on ABC Family with Ricky Lake from the late 80s. Its fun too, but not as fun.

Saw it recently, and actually quite enjoyed it (although we were practically DEAF afterwards, as it was sooooo loud!..what is up with the cinema guy on the volume dial?) We were a bit surprised about how little people spoke (all the songs seemed to come at once, don't ya think?) but they were good songs and some of the dancing was fab...I like the black (can I say that?) guy, thought he was the best and JT was great too. Will def rent it again for a girls night in,(with all the popcorn and icecream.).:blob2:

That's funny. I was watching too and it had the opposite effect on me. It made me love and appreciate the original so much more.

I agree. While the musical is great, it's really a whole other vehicle. I think the original John Waters film is hilarious. And what a sassy cast -- Debbie Harry, Sonny Bono, Pia Zadora, Ruth Brown, Rickie Lake! It's also the last movie that the legendary Divine made. :xoxo:
