Someone posted this link in the Chris forum on the Seven Wonders board while the Ledge was down. I know some here don't check out the SW board, so I thought I'd post it here now. This interview was from late 1981, early 1982. It's a real hoot, especially because Chris appears to be a bit tipsy.

I saw this on SW and it's very good.

I like the bit about the male groupies being "18 and spotty"

Thanks for sharing. I really liked this interview. Esp the comments she made about the male groupies, her age and a rock star personality.

I LOVE the ending. To hear Christine say "arrogant, flippant bitch" was priceless!

I loved the interview. She didn't really seem tispy to me. In fact, her answers were direct, plain, and clear. I loved the fact that she didn't shroud herself in an aura of mystery; she stressed her humbleness--often in amusing ways. Loved the extrovert-drinking comment, as well as the statement: "you don't have to be an arrogant bitch to be successful in this business."

That interview is fun to watch, because Christine is so poised and sensible in her answers. I don't think she was tipsy at all -- I've seen interviews with Chris where she was tipsy, and this wasn't like that. That way she bobs her head back and forth, that's just a mannerism of hers, it doesn't indicate drunkenness.

I really wish the interviewer had asked Christine some better questions, however. She asked very uninspired questions like "Do you mind getting older? What's good about being in rock and roll?" The interviewer had a great opportunity to get some insight into Christine's pioneering role as a woman musician in a rock band, and instead she completely ignored the fact that Chris is a musician as well as a singer. A question or two about Christine's piano playing would have made for a more interesting interview.

Nancy Collins wasn't that type of interviewer. She was more of a "celebrity/personality" type of reporter.

So ... don't turn to her for insightful investigative reporting, eh? <lol>

LOL...that was my favorite quote! I love that! From her looks, it seems like this was filmed around the Mirage period. I would have loved to see the unedited version, with the others...did I see Grace Slick there for a second? Now that's the one who is know for priceless quotes!

No, she wasn't exactly an "investigative reporter".:D If I remember correctly, she might have been the celebrity correspondent on the Today show years ago, or some similar show. I still like the interview though, and like others have said, I LOVE Christine's "arrogant, flippant bitch" remark at the end.
