the board is ungodly slow. does anyone have a slight bit of time to find out what's going on and let the supporting members know what's going on?

where are the moderators to answer several questions relating to the administration of the board and problems going on in this thread and a couple below it? moderators have been very scarce as of late (with the exception of brother Ry). just wondering. there's not really a moderator presence at all.

hello god. it's me, margaret.

Well I'm here...:wavey: But when it comes to the PMs and the running of the board there's just not much we can do except let Marty know.

ON EDIT: I just wanted to add that just because I don't post a lot (I never did) doesn't mean I'm not here. Most of the time I check the boards at least once a day.

So...any word from the admins about what's going on?

for srs. cause I'd like to read and respond to my private messages. plus, it's getting to be a total pain in the ass to deal with the slowness. is this all that $12 buys these days?!

just kidding, of course. I think $12 is very cheap for this great beehive we got going on here.

Just to add to what Sugar wrote... "technical difficulties," like the ones we're currently experiencing, are unfortunately out of the moderators' hands. I don't believe there's much that Marty can do about them either -- other than contacting the host company.

Hopefully everything will be running at full-speed again soon.

yeah, I know and I think everyone assumes that moderators aren't IT folks. but, since moderators are our only link to the maintenance and solution of problems, it's nice to have input. so, thanks.

It looks like my PM box is stuffed over capacity (42). Darn, who could be pm'ing me?

^ It's one of life's greatest mysteries.

I understand technical glitches are out of the mod's control, but a response in the thread would have been nice. You know, to at least let people know that Marty's been notified of the problem.

Speaking only for myself, I kinda thought everyone knew that tech issues are Marty's department. I also figured that the thread itself was a way of notifying Marty because I was under the impression that he keeps an eye on this forum, although I may be wrong. For the record, I haven't gotten any response from Marty to my direct notification to him about the problems on the board, so I have nothing to report other than I emailed him. It's not like we're hiding anything from you.

Wow, defensive. I'm not paranoid, nor am I accusing anyone of anything. I just thought it odd that when people posted that there was a problem, no mods responded. Then, when Jaz posted to ask if the issue was being addressed, the only response we got from mods seemed to me like "it's not our problem." How the hell are we supposed to know how often Marty or Lisa read the boards, or what threads they read? I thought it was the mods job to keep up & notify them of problems. If not, my mistake.

I don't think anyone was accusing anyone of hiding information. point is...you know what assuming does.

a sticky that said - yes, we know the board is slow and PMs are acting screwy, we've told Marty - would've sufficed. that's why I started the thread cause no one (moderators) seemed to want to say anything. and honestly, when was the last time Marty posted? you know.

just a, you know, suggestion. not being critical about anything. there's just not a moderator presence at all as of late and I'm fine with that if the moderators don't want to post, but when problems arise, it's just nice to formally acknowledge them.

ok, no sense in going further. you've done what we asked. thanks.

this is where my direct response ends, the rest is not directed to anyone in particular, but in general.

and just as a tidbit of information, a quick look at the threads below (my sig problems, Jannie's PM problems, Josh's avatar probelms and Barb's sig problems), there is not one post from a moderator. no acknowledgment of the problem, nothing. just sayin. you moderators have a lot to deal with in life outside of this place just like we do, we all know that and we know moderating isn't a walk in the park all the time, but it's a responsibility and just assuming the members of this board know something just ain't gonna cut it. saying, that's Marty's problem and we thought you knew ain't gonna cut it. especially when the problems are with board maintenance and no one knows what's going on. I can't tell you how many emails and messages on myspace I got asking if the Ledge was down.

now, you can go back to the playground and play.

ETA: lmao...Paula, you and I posted practically the same thing at the same time. lol.

~~**should I lock this thread?**~~ y/y?

ETAA: I'm not going to lock it since others may have something to add, but, like I said, I think we're all clear and you've done what we asked; so, it's best left at that I guess.

Wow I guess you told me.

I didn't think I was being defensive or trying to shirk responsibility or anything else. All I was doing was trying to explain, for good or for bad, my assessment of the situation and why I did not respond to the previous threads.

I appreciate that you guys are (very obviously) frustrated and that all you want are answers. It didn't occur to me to post anything unless I knew something, which I don't. I frankly don't know if Marty even got my email. The only way I have of contacting him is the same way anyone can contact him, and that's via his ThePenguin user name.

But yes, as Jazz acknowledged, as of right now, I have emailed Marty about the problems that I know of. When I get any more information, I'll be sure to pass it along.

When that problem has come up in the past (as it has a few times), I've replied to threads and explained that. I missed Jannie's thread, or I would've done so again.

I contacted Josh privately about his avatar problem (and did my best to fix it, but was unsuccessful), so I didn't think it was necessary to also reply to his thread.

I'll do what I can to fix Barb's signature problems... I imagine it's the same problem that others have had, when they've tried to use a pic saved to PhotoBucket. Not sure why the coding causes a glitch here, but it does.

As for the rest... when the board is slow, or private messages aren't working, there's really nothing we can do about it. There's nothing Marty can do about it either. Those problems usually stem from issues with the company that hosts the server.
When it happens from time to time, the mods are just as in the dark about it as anyone else, so there doesn't seem to be any sense in posting to say "we have no clue what's going on." Not to mention the fact that I'm also having the same problems with the board not loading and/or my posts not going through.

None of that is meant to be taken even the slightest bit defensively.

brian, i think all anyone was wanting was just an acknowledgment of the issues by the mods ... even if all you have to say is that you don't know what the problem is, it's enough to know that you guys recognize the problem & have contacted marty about it :)

Hopefully this won't happen again though, as it's very annoying (the board, not the questions).

By the way, I fixed Barb's signature. She was missing a quotation mark in her HTML code.

I still can't do anything with PM's. It says I have 42 in my box, so I don't know of this is why I can't do anything with them or what.
