(Sorry if there is another thread about this - I don't see one.)

I saw it today on the recommendation of my parents - My dad is a pharmacist who hates going to the movies (and has gone to only one other in the last 20+ years), but he really liked this one.
I recommend it as well. Not quite as funny as Roger and Me, IMO, but certainly a subject that is long overdue in mainstream film. My only problem is that I had already seen about five clips on various previews, TV shows, and article references, but that's not the film's fault, I guess. A few parts are sappy, but others are affecting. As with any MM film, it tends to be one-sided, but in this case I can't say to be terribly bothered by that.
Maybe seeing this will actually prompt Americans to action on this shameful business, but I am pessimistic.
Cool soundtrack, too.
The reference to the website about Canadians in the closing credits is worth sticking around for, BTW. (I won't spoil it for you.)
Has anybody else seen this movie yet?

I was planning on going to see it anyway, but now you have piqued my curiosity even more  (and thanks for not spoiling it  I love MM movies. I have them all on dvd. They're always entertaining and more importantly, very informative.

i saw it the friday it came out and cried through the entire thing. at first, i was just sort of sniffling to myself, but by the middle, it was like FEVER PITCH hysteria and i was disrupting everyone's viewing experience. so i had to the leave the theatre for a few minutes and pull it together. i feel awful for being such a muppet about the whole thing; i wish i could personally apologise to everyone who had been there! :sorry:

politics and personal opinion aside, i think what upset me most is how moore highlights american society as "ME" driven, instead of "WE". i don't like to make sweeping generalisations or mean to be a social critic, but i often feel that way. it's really alienating and confusing on an "everyday" level, but then when you put it in the context of people's lives being at risk, it seems unconscionable.

at any rate, i enjoyed sicko much more than fahrenheit 9/11. there were less "michael moore-isms". it was better balanced, in my view.

i guess i loved it. i was (and still am) so pissed that i have to let it settle for a while. it really shows how fear is used to keep the insurance companies going, and how effed you are anyway.

yeah, the guy who has to decide which finger to keep? MM could have put out an entire film highlighting how fantastic that decision is and why anyone anywhere would be forced to make it.

grrr again.

I just watched this. Though I was already aware of the differences between the American and European health care systems, I was still stunned by some of the things I saw in this movie. Some parts were entirely too sappy for me, some parts a little farfetched, some parts definitely exaggerated (I mean, France is great and all, but it's not the big picnic like it was portrayed in the movie), but I guess what it came down to in the end was the absolute truth. If I were to live in the US I'd live in constant fear also.

I'm eager to see this movie. I'll wait until it's on disc & then rent it. Health insurance issues among my family, co-workers & acquaintances are the root of much violent disagreement.

I've seen it on Friday, it was absolutely great, probably my favourite among his films after Roger & Me. Moore showed a deep humanity absent from some of his previous films talking of such a difficult subject.
It was heartbreaking though, honestly I don't know how US citizens can stand this situation.

My kudos to Cuban doctors who cured the 9/11 volunteers. Obviously it was also an operation of image but at least those people are better now.

P.S Right now I'm watching Spike Lee's documentary on Katrina... a real masterpiece.
