Just curious if anyone is watching David Milch's new series on HBO - John from Cincinnati? The show is actually set in my hometown of Imperial Beach and they just finished filming the final episode for the first season. Jag and I were down at the beach watching them film a scene by the pier - Jag was trying his best to get discovered and may be in one of the shots of the parade.
The film crew has been here off and on since December and I usually have to watch each episode more than once to catch all the local hangouts. Hopefully it will make it to another season. It's already been good financially for IB and you can spot the tourists looking for all the set locations used in the show.

I realize the attention span of someone from the Valley is about 7 seconds but, the truth is, the show is developing a great following. It's a complex show and also requires the watcher to have some semblance of intelligence. :p

If you ever watched Deadwood when it was on HBO it's from the same director/writer. You can see some clips on youtube. It's a quirky show with lots of twists and turns that you have to pay attention to or rewatch to pick up on. Not the show to watch if you're multi-tasking. It has a great cast. John isn't from Cincinnati and we're not sure what he is or where he is from at this point. Each week you pick up a little more about each character.
As for Imperial Beach, we are the "Most Southwesterly City in the Continental U.S." It says so right on the town sign  As kids we called our town Northern Tijuana. We are as far south as you can go in California before the border. It's still a nice beach/surf town and hasn't, to this point, become as overcrowded as the other beach cities in California.

Oh, Ok, cool. So that means, if I missed the beginning of the series, I won't be able to "pick it up" and know what is going on?
That is funny,
"John isn't from Cincinnati and we are not sure what he is or where he is from"
So, (I didn't watch Deadwood, either) this is a comedy, drama or combination?
Thanks for the synopsis, too.
Imperial Beach sounds lovely!
