That whole show was a great show, she's clearly coked out, but a great show nonetheless. Just to see her run and jump over the monitors in those platforms is worth the price of admission.

I actually have her entire performance on DVD from the US Festival.
Not the best sound quality, but she still rocks!

The quality of this video is ridiculously good compared to the copy I have. Starting with Gypsy, a lot of the time I can't even hear Stevie sing unless her mouth is completely against the microphone, and Sharon's voice is loud as hell. I wish I had a good copy like this, although this seems to be something professionally done for Japan (I'm guessing). I also wonder how 'live' those vocals are...they sound a bit too polished, heh. Great video, thanks for sharing!

Someone left a comment on this video saying that this was not the original vocal performance...

That's probably true. That was done several times for Stevie's shows. If you hear the original Red Rocks vocals you see that they are very different from the video's vocals. This was a common thing.

The whole show was shot professionally. It aired on Showtime back in the day.

I left that comment on youtube actually - it isn't the real vocal - I have the dvd of this show and anyone that has it can clearly tell it's not the vocal
And you can see a couple of times in the video where in the audio she's singing but she's not in the video...
Towards the end after the take me home part and she's staring at the girls while the overdub has singing why don't you take....and she's not even facing the mic.
Sorry to burst the bubble folks :P
The original vocal is worse than this one

She's so dead here. She just stands there. The version I have is the original and it's got a horrible vocal on it.

Well it fooled me...but after that comment I watched it again and noticed where she wasn't singing. I still like the vocals in the video. :)

I'm not convinced. It looks and sounds real to me. This Korean video looks very cleaned up and pulled from masters. They did clean up the audio and it may not be completely synced properly with video. Her speaking before singing seems like the right audio right from the start.
Someone commented on the video on the YouTube page:
This was the very first live performance of Stand Back. This US Festival Show was 5/30/83, Stand Back was released 5/19/83. The album was not even released yet, which released 6/10/83. So it was not perfected or well rehearsed yet to what you think is better. I think it is a great performance and total Stevie
WOW, hadn't seen the Korean one.
I always liked this concert, because she smiles so much (yes, for the happy powder reason) and I love to see her beautiful smile...
I didn't realize the vocals were re dubbed, I know Red Rocks, they were...
will have to watch again...

I have never heard the original Red Rocks. Are they better or worse than the DVD? I know WWD was tweaked a little but no where NEAR as much as Red Rocks!

I love her smiles too. She's happy for powder but also you can tell she loves playing to so many people. Somewhere along she comments on seeing the "sea of people."

Yes, I love to see her happy and peppy like that...
It must be a total rush to play for that huge of a crowd...
I always remember her saying "WOW" in the Red Rocks video,
when they released the doves, and I imagine that is how it feels to see
all those people, too...WOW...

Stevie wasn't even on this planet for the original RR show. She was definitely up there...somewhere. The vocals.blow.big.time. But that was the RAL era. She was either spot on or she missed completely.
I have "both" US Fest shows and I can attest this is the dubbed version. These vocals have more of an edge than the originals.

That doesn't surprise me. What RAL shows would you recomend? I love the energy of this tour but I've only heard Red Rocks. I'm DYING to get hold of the Cloaks and Daggers boot.

Oh gosh, I had that around here, but I am so unorganized...
If I ever come across it I will be happy to pop off a copy mail it to you,
but don't hold your breath, my house is a stack of boxed up stuff, as I run my own business and I TRY to stay organized, but CDs and photos and stuff, do not get organized...LOL...I will let you know if I find it...

OH WOW! Thank you so much! I'm over in England if you don't mind the postage costs. If you have anything you want me to send in return I shall. I have the following:
White Wing Dove
Red Rocks
Houston '89
Live At The Whiskey '91
Welcome To My World - HOB '94
A Day In The Garden - Woodstock '98
and I have a SYW show somewhere but not sure which one I shall try and find out. You probably have these. It's not a huge collection but if you're missing any then let me know and I'll send you it. I'm aiming for one show per tour but not getting very far at the moment lol.

I am a RAL junkie. So, to me, it's all good. I love the gibberish and all the mistakes because amongst all that she would just wail away and those are the moments I live for.
Houston (opening night, I was there) is a great show. I'm biased.
Dallas is great. I was at that one, too.
Some great shows: MSG, Sydney, and Lexington.
The IA City show is amazing. Plus there is a complete video of this as well.

Sorry to be a pain but I don't suppose anyone could send me the audio from the dubbed US Festival via yousendit or sendspace please? I have the un-edited one on DVD but it would be cool to compare the two.
Thanks,

WWD was tweaked? Don't tell me this... :(
I also didn't know that Red Rocks was dubbed...I'm still learning as the days go by.
This depresses me. :(

WWD only in little bits. I think they sorted things like the volume out but didn't really do anything to change Stevie's performance. And as far as I know, The Dance was post-produced to death. Red Rocks is the worst for me. There are parts you can hear her singing in but the image on screen shows her no where near the mic. Houston 89 also had dubs on it for the radio as was Live At The Whiskey and House Of Blues '94.
