the iPhone is to start shipping next month. anyone anxious to get one? I just read that Apple and Cingular have a 5 year contract. you will only be able to get the phone if you are a Cingular customer. it's also a little pricey...4GB will be $499 and 8Gb will be $599. I don't think you have to be a Mac user to use the iPhone, but for those of us that are Mac users, this phone is going to be awesome.

I will wait til my current contract is up with Cingular in November so I can get some sort of discount and so that most of the bugs are sorted out before I get one.

Well, I have a 30gig iPod Video, which takes care of my music needs. And I have a RAZR which is considered to be the iPod of phones. So an iPhone would be ridiculous for someone like me. I don't really see what the fuss is other than having your mp3s and your phone all in one, but since I'm a chick (or at least I was last time I checked), I can carry both in my purse no problem. Although I'm sure some of the lads here carry some kind of bag  :xoxo:

I will never pay that much for a cell phone. I have an iPod. The only feature that would attract me is the internet capability. But I have a laptop. So there. :p

No, I still play CDs on my Bose CD player. And the few songs I have downloaded I just play on my laptop. I was never one for walking around listening to music with earphones. But I would like an iPod for the gym to block out the crap music they play.

Dumb question: do ipods have a radio also? It would be a plus if I could listen to baseball games on it. :)

No, but you can get podcasts, which I guess are kind of like radio. Also, if you buy XM Radio you can get all MLB games, and I think you can also use the thing as an mp3 player. I'm not sure tho.

I hardly ever listen to it while walking around. Mostly I listen to it in the car and at home I can plug it into the speakers. I used it to go running for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I didnt' really make a playlist so I wasn't prepared but next time I'll have my songs all lined up  fall from grace is a great song to run to, I learned!!

^^You've got me online shopping today! I was interested in the shuffle until I learned you can't choose the song. Duh--shuffle.

Maybe a Nano? I like the red one that fights AIDS.

haha..well, true. but you can make a small playlist (running playlist etc) that has only the songs you want to work out to. 10, 15 however many you want and then just shuffle through those instead of your entire collection. It's better than making a cd every time. and hey-when you get bored with it, you delete the playlist and make a new one!!! it really is great. i can't explain it, because I didn't know what I was missing until I got one.

I think it would really just depend on how many songs you think you'll put on it. Or if you'll watch videos etc. But I think the red/fighting AIDS one would be a perfect choice

I would never pay that much money for a phone. I guess that I am from the old school. I like my phone to be a phone, camera to be a just camera and I can do without an MP3 player even though I do have one.

I don't have an iPod either, I just don't see the point. If I want to listen to music - I blast it in my room

I would love to have one, but I know how I am with electronics. I would freak every time I dropped it (which happens quite often to my current phone).
