I know there are a lot of readers on here on the Ledge andd I was just curious to what our favorite genres are.
Personally I think I am a Thriller Lover (Sidney Sheldon as you know) although any kind of commercial fiction is good........
The novel that I am writing is a Thriller, so it fits me well.
I know, I know, commercial isn't literature.....
My favorite authors include, Sidney Sheldon, Danielle Steel, John Grisham, and I like Stephen King.
Much Love,
Ethan

I like thrillers and misteries but I chose non-fiction cause i looove Bios.. yes they're right when they said real life is more interesting than any novel, fiction or thriller. The bios I remember I've read are:
MICK FLEETWOOD
Tina Turner
Celia Cruz
Freddie Mercury
Eagles
Elizabeth Taylor
Gloria Estefan
I remember I had the Charles Chaplin autobigoraphy in my hands at Barnes&Noble and then an old man asked at the cashier for that book. She told him I was getting the last issue, and the man was so sad, he didn't even ask me but I recognized he was a diehard fan (I was just interested in Chaplin's life, but not a great fan), so I immediately gave him the book, it was my good action of the day. The man was so happy...

Southern Gothic is my fave form of fiction. Mainly because my family is itself just one long Carson McCullers novel.
I also love reading biographies, especially those of jazz and blues singers - ones I've enjoyed were on Nat King Cole, Sarah Vaughan, Dinah Washington, Ruth Brown, and Billie Holiday, to name a few.
Lately I haven't been reading much except Buddhist scripture and commentaries. I think a trip to the library is in my future. :D

When I do read I prefer Non-fiction subject matter (I inherited my Mom's massive collection of books about 'serial killers')

It's cool to see that Thrillers/Mysteries polled so high.

I don't have a favorite genre. I like just about anything, except romance and westerns.
Sorry Ethan, but the really commercial stuff (Grisham, Patterson, etc.) really gets on my nerves.
A really great book crossed my desk a few weeks ago. 'Soon I Will Be Invincible' by Austin Grossman. It goes on sale June 5th if anyone wants to check it out.

I like comedy/satire books. My favourite author is Terry Pratchett. They are highly satirical books that just happen to be set in a fantasy world. I guess you could class them as fantasy, but even though they're filled with elves, dwarves, etc. I don't think of them as "fantasy", but more as comedy or satire or even world commentary.
Other authors I like are:
JRR Tolkein
H.G. Wells (completely awesome author. War of the Worlds is great :) )
Colin Bateman (Northern Irish author. Biggest hit was Divorcing Jack, which some may have heard of, or seen the movie.)
