Louie - good call! Are you a fan of a good period drama? That's where the UK kicks US ass! Try streaming BBC adaptations of North and South, Bleak House and Cranford too. All are incredible - Bleak House especially.

I am totally obsessed with English period dramas! I am especially fascinated by early-mid 20th century English period pieces which showcase the collapse of the old English way of life and class system.
I've actually been considering watching Bleak House for a while now... but can't decide between the newer and older one. Guess I'll just have to watch both! :D
I've also been itching to see the original Brideshead Revisted mini series after watching the movie last year. I very much enjoyed the movie, but it was derided by critics as not being anywhere near as great as the original mini series. So I'll have to check out the mini series and judge for myself!
I'll have to check out North And South, too... that's another one which has been on my radar :). Thanks for helping push me over the edge on these shows!

Bleak House: There's NO context between the older and newer ones. The new one, with Gillian Anderson as Lady Tulkinghorn, is the best costume drama tv series ever. The first episode was an hr and then they broke it down into 30 minite episodes so there's a cliffhanger every time. It works very well, especially since Dickens's books were originally written in serial format.
As for North and South, you want the BBC one with Daniella Denby Ashe and Richard Armitage. It's from about 6-7 years ago.
The original series of Brideshead is superb - you'll love it! Let me know once you've seen any of these and what you thought.

Most of my favorites are sitcoms that are no longer on. I don't watch many dramas, but two standouts are 'Without a Trace', which was canceled far too soon, and a show from about 20 years ago, which nobody will remember, called 'I'll Fly Away'. It's basically 'To Kill a Mockingbird' told from Calpurnia the housekeeper's point of view. Again, canceled too soon.

'Without a Trace', which was canceled far too soon,
I love Without A Trace and have the first 6 seasons on dvd - waiting impatiently for season 7! I actually just watched the season 5 episodes with Sam's sister in them last night, they may be 2 of my favourites from the whole series. It's excellent and I wish there were new episodes. Season 7 was a bit patchy but still much better than loads of other stuff out there.
Sadly though, 7 seasons is now a long running US drama! Studio 60 anyone? That's surely the most criminally early cancelleshow ever! One season?? What the..?!

Prob. watch more TV now than in the past 7 0r 8 years, but it's still not all that much. Only things I watch on a semi-regular basis are Bones, Modern Family, & Glee (haters can suck it :) ). Kinda got into Cougar Town for a bit, but they either canceled it or moved it to another night - not sure which, and don't care enough to find out.

I've recently gotten addicted to "Spartacus: Blood & Sand". It's violent! It's tawdry! It's filled with man candy! I LOVE IT!!! ;)

Prob. watch more TV now than in the past 7 0r 8 years, but it's still not all that much. Only things I watch on a semi-regular basis are Bones, Modern Family, & Glee (haters can suck it :) ). Kinda got into Cougar Town for a bit, but they either canceled it or moved it to another night - not sure which, and don't care enough to find out.

Neither--it's just on hiatus while Matthew Perry's show (which, BTW, is dreadful) starts up. CT will be back later in the Spring. I actually really enjoy it; nothing groundbreaking, but it's cute and has a great cast.
 I adore this version.
Besides the shows I already mentioned, I guess I should add Hot In Cleveland. I originally I watched because of Betty White, but the rest of the cast is pretty funny. It's kind of a rip-off of the Golden Girls though. :p
Ooh, yes--another guilty pleasure. I haven't seen much of season 2, but it's a cute show. Completely formulaic, but the cast is entirely composed of women I adore.

I could never get into Spartacus, and I really wanted to (my mother was a classics major, I'm a Latin geek--I'll watch pretty much anything set in Rome). But have you ever seen Rome? Perfect balance of great writing and the fantastic hedonism of Ancient Rome; one of my favorite shows of all time. Plenty of man candy, too ;)

Rome was a great one. HBO ended three great shows prematurely:
Rome
Deadwood
Carnivale
 I adore this version.

I got to say right now, I really like Hot in Cleveland, too, even though it's on for like two months & then doesn't come back on until June. (Where can I get a job like this?) Initially I started watching because of Valerie Bertinelli. Growing up I watched One Day @ A Time & started watching this because she's from Delaware like me. I liked that show. I like Betty White, too, loved The Golden Girls. Besides Hot in Cleveland (which I record because it's on too late for me), I record & watch CSI; Miami & SNL. I also watch CSI; NY when it's on (heard the rumor that it may be cancelled). I watched AI & DWTS, but I can't say that they are my favorites. I pretty much watch them because nothing I like is really on. Sometimes I watch Mike & Molly, but not faithfully. I do like it though. The actress that plays Molly was on Samantha Who? which I liked but it got cancelled. It seems like every show I watch gets cancelled sooner or later. I liked Medium, & that got cancelled. Liked that show Pushing Daisies & that got cancelled. I almost hate to start watching any show for fear it'll get cancelled soon.

2. American Pickers (because Mike Wolfe is sexy fine to me)

I must be on a manly man kick lately
I love the show, but Mike annoys me. He's too geeky. And funny you call him a manly man, cuz I find him a bit femme. And his teeth are waaaaaayyyyyyyyy too yellow.
- Jake
I'll see your I'll Fly Away & raise you a China Beach. Talk about a top notch show that nobody remembers.
Seinfeld- greatest show of all time.
Yes, much like Fleetwood Mac, I'm sick to death of it, but still.....
Yeah. One of those shows that we'll put on when nothing else is on, even though we've seen the ep. 50 times.
Of new shows, I absolutely love The Middle.
It's great.

I never noticed anything like that about him. He certainly looks better than his counterpart always alongside him. He has a certain appeal maybe not for everyone.

I've always found it SO intriguing,....the extreme differences, that we're all attracted to. Traits that some find disgusting, others find to be a turn-on(feet, for an example[bleck, personally]).
For me, a great personality can trump almost any physical.....fault...(although I DO mean that you still have to be sexy-whatever that means....confidence is uber sexy!!).

Why delete part of your post, then tell people you deleted it? And who are the Haterade Two - hope that's not a personal attack on someone here.
I agree - it's not all about looks, or weight, or physical appearance at all. And I believe there really is someone for everyone. In this case, I am turned off by Mike's personality - he just rubs me the wrong way. But to each their own. I still love the show, just don't want to bang either dude on it.

Oh, I think that's true for most people. Some gay guys b!tch about how they're not good-looking enough to attract guys, but in my experience (yes, even with gay guys  ), if you're confident and have a great personality, you can get plenty of sex if you want it, even if you're fairly homely.
The b!tchy guys who aren't getting laid (or boyfriends, or whatever they're looking for) don't seem to realize that it's most likely not their looks that are turning guys off.

Which one is he? Even though I'm a huge Ed O'Neill/Married With Children fan, I've only seen MF about 5 times. I don't know why, it just hasn't really caught my attention. For me, the whole show just feels a little too bitchy/agitated...

He's married to Ed O'Neill's daughter on the show.
I think you have to find humor in domestic squabbling to enjoy it.

Just finished watching the finale of what has the makings of being one of my all time favorite shows, The grifter debauched Showtime series Shameless! Also looking forward to the return of Nurse Jackie & U.S. of Tara.
Also anyone catch Mildred Pierce this weekend? That was truly wonderful. You get totally immersed in that depression era and the protagonist character Mildred. Kate Winslet once again delivers. But when does she not? I've been captivated by her ever since the intense Heavenly Creatures.

To resurrect this thred - does anyone here remember Providence? It was a kind of Hallmark Channel drama with Melina Kanakarades (CSI: NY) and I loved it! It was shown in the UK but no-one but me watched it.
My Michael J. Fox fandom means that I loved Spin City too and am so pleased that it's out on dvd after waiting for years! Anyone else like that show? Classic Family Ties is great too.
