Ok, I was hoping that someone would post a review of the opening night, but all I have seen so far is bitching about the set list. Did anyone go and noticed anything else like, did she sound good? Did she look to be having fun? Are there screens behind her with videos and photos etc?
I realize I am probably too old school, but concerts are more than just the songs being performed. So if anyone has a review, good or bad, could you post them. This weekend should see more reviews now that everyone has seen the set list and bitched and whined about it.

I agree...there is too much bitching about the set list. I personally am excited because I have never seen her perform If Anyone Falls or How Still My Love...so what if we don't get anything new. We should all be lucky that she is still touring. That's how I feel about it. If all you are going to do is bitch that she isn't adding anything new then don't go to the show.

Ryan and Amber reviewed the show in the other thread.

They said Stevie sounded great vocally. Chris played for an hour. Stevie came on at around 9:15 and performed until around 10:45. She wore a full white dress during Edge and threw on her black gown over it during Beauty.

You can see clips of Concord on You Tube.

Um, OK. I will do my best not to bitch. Lets see. IM, her vocal were very RAL reminicent Thurs. night. Her vocals were very spot on. She seemed a tad rushed, which I also noticed @ the December Vegas performence. Someone said she had to be offstage by 11 w/ Concord curefew issues, so NOT knowing that at the time, but looking back, I wonder if I am imagining that the song is sped up just a tad, or not. That is not a "bitch" just an observation. During GDW, when she goes into her lil chant session, it was the "baby, baby, baby, baby, you can't feel me now...can't see me now." Back & forth w/ the "feel" and "see." Stand back had the "nuh-ughs" that she threw into the song on the Ellen performence. New & different, live wise.

She wore those kid leather (softest gloves evah) all night. Her shorter black boots all the way until the end w/ EO17, sporting the new white outfit and her famous black suede boots. Oh, EO17 TOTALLY kicked off off the mark. Not a bitch, just she jumped the intro gun ;) The girls sorta squirmed.

All in all, it was a run of the mill show...I mean, smooth and effortless. Lori seems more engaged w/ each new "she's back" moment. She took on the IAF vocals w/ feeling, and gave a particularly dramatic performance w/ her vocal portion of B&tB.

Stevie's intro of the band, and general good spirits to stop and talk for a second were done so w/ love, in only the way Stevie can deliver a story. Ad-libing the year it happened, but still delivering the mood of the song she's about to take on.

Those 2 posters ahead of this will dearly love the show if:
a) you haven't seen her in a while
b) you'll only be seeing her one MAYBE 2 stops this go round
c) you've seen her 5 times or less in your lifetime

Non-snarkily yours,
ALK

I was watching the clips. I'm so glad Lenny is back in the regular band. Love that guy. :woohoo:

Stevie said that CV was the story of her life and of Waddy, Sharon, and Lori.

She said the tour gave her an opportunity to go through old photos, artwork, and videos and that she would share them throughout the show. Most of them were in Landslide, which was a slideshow of old footage, heavy with pics of her parents. Landslide ended with a pic of her Dad in his wheelchair/scooter thing.

If I recall correctly, there was a burgundy background most of the time.

She spun several times during SB and had a nice high kick at the end.

She hit a high note during Dreams that I haven't heard in ages "what you HAD".

She sang Enchanted in a playful way. Hard to describe, but kind of sarcastically.

She said the "lady from the mountain" is the woman from San Francisco.

She didn't play tambo during Rock and Roll. As usual, she spent too much time trying to keep that top hat on her head.

She was stunningly beautiful all night. During BATB, my heart skipped a little when I looked on the video and saw such pure gorgeousness.

She didn't try the high note on "sur....viiiiiive" at end of FFG, but she did drag out the word and put more energy into the song than usual.

End of Rhiannon was better than usual.

I'm sure others have more to add. She looked like she was having a great time.

Sharon, Jana, Lori, did the usual dumb synchronized moves. I liked it better when Sharon and Lori danced however they wanted. (I am bitching, and I will bitch if I want. )

Stevie said something like "he is back and always should have been here". Something like that....I remember thinking hope it doesn't get back to Taku.

That's what I meant. So Lori is back, this is news, since she hasn't toured with Stevie in years. You say the vocals sounded very RAL, you mean live RAL? That is some of the worst sounding vocals she's ever done.
Other than that, thanks for the review. I have seen Stevie many times before, going back to 1986 and as recently as 2005, have caught every tour since 1997 in fact. This isn't 1981/83 anymore, the days of being wow'd at her shows are long over with. By now you should know the routine, you know what you're getting when you walk thru those doors.

I guess when I bitch it's cause I don't have a very rounded history of seeing her. My 1st concert was 1987, and I saw every tour since then, but once. Not until 2003 did I start seeing multiple shows, and shortly before that had I begun venturing to the one off things. But 2003/2004 SYW shows, I mean back to back to back w/ LB's verbatum intros to songs, and setlist sameness' (a word???) it got old quickly. Was VERY exciting cause it was my first run w/ front row seats, and the whole backstage experience etc. So then I start seeing SN solo like as many shows as I can get my hands on...so from 2003 to now, what barely 4 years, I am just seeing so much of the same stuff. Even w/ the prior concerts I have been to, I recall them, but not like these cause they are more recent, and prior to 2003, it was just so OMFG to even GO to a concert, that I was more dumbfounded by the whole experience vs. retaing what I saw that night. So although I know no one here is singling me out for bitching (I don't think haha) I mean, I never mean to sound ungrateful or unhappy (after all, I keep going don't I?) but easily, I'd say 25+ shows since 2003...that's like what 6 shows a year w/ so little time between. (not literally, but if you were to break it down........) If I had seen gads of shows in the 80's, then a bunch now, I think it'd be more of a varience for me.

Oh, and vocally like RAL recorded...not live. And maybe this was just my small community @ the show that thought so as well.

Thanks for posting these! I just watched the "entrance" clip and if I'd only heard the audio, I would've thought I was listening to a porno! "Oh...yeah, baby...ooooh, yeeaaaah!"

I think the whining gang would slowly fade in the sunset (as it always happens) and we'll have more real reviews in the next days.

My review was a real review. A mix of the positive and the negatives. I'm sure you will get enough "OMG Stevie rawked last night" reviews to make you happy.

I don't understand why people can't just accept differing opinions.

I feel no need to justify why I have complaints? If you don't like the negative reviews, just don't read them. Why the need to attack people with differing views? No one is telling you not to enjoy the show.

Has anyone said anything about the LA show? I haven't seen anything... Other than in the merchandise thread.

And Ryan, quit telling people not to enjoy the show! You know your opinion will color their entire experience, what with your psychic Stevie-mood altering superpowers! You must use them for good, not evil! And quit controlling Stevie's setlist, making her sing the same songs over and over, just so you can complain!  :wavey:

as if I take any pleasure in complaining about Stevie. I love the woman and all I wanted was one new song. Just one...and it could have been Silver Springs. I also expected some stuff with Chris Isaak.

I've been rather depressed since the show because I do not like being disappointed in Stevie. I went to the December Vegas show with no expectations and was able to thoroughly enjoy it. My mistake for having expections (hope?). Some day I will learn.....

^^^ I was disappointed about Eye Sack, too. His voice is gorgeous, and his range! My god! Stevie missed out on that one, for super sure. Very bad move, they could've made bootiful moosic together.

I've been depressed a little since the show, too, but it is because I really want to go to more shows, and I can't. :( I'm glad you at least enjoyed your Vegas show.
I hope she adds a solo date here, but I bet she won't. And I hope it is at the Greek, in case anyone is paying attention. :D C'mon, Stevie! Greek? August? Please?

I wasn't referring particularly to you or any of the Ledgies that went to the concert and was kind enough to post his/her opinions but to the whining fest (12 pages?!?!) that got an innuendo from your reviews. I think there's much more than the setlist problem in that thread, that makes it quite useless for those fans who are more interested in the concerts than to every single personal disappointment felt in many (too many?) years of fandom.
