Life is looking good for Stevie Nicks

Stevie Nicks says there's only one drawback to having an artist like Chris Isaak open for her on her summer tour. She has to scale back the kind of set she would normally do for fans.
"I'm very happy to have Chris come with us, but I didn't really realize that meant I was going to have to shorten my set," Nicks said in a recent phone interview. "With his hour set and the 30-minute changeover, we won't go on until somewhere between 9:15 and 9:30, and curfews are 11 o'clock, and you'd better be done because if you're not, they'll pull your power."
Cutting three or four songs from what has traditionally been nearly a two-hour set is about the only thing that draws a complaint from Nicks these days. Her life and career have recovered from a period in which there was reason to wonder if Nicks could continue to be a vital force on the music scene. But, as Nicks herself said, her life today is fantastic.

"I guess if I could say anything about this 'Crystal Visions' thing, (it's that) I've never lost that sparkle of doing these songs, and ... for writing new ones," said Stevie Nicks of her greatest-hits CD.
And why shouldn't it be? The last decade saw Nicks, after a seven-year split with her bandmates from Fleetwood Mac, do a highly successful world tour behind the 1997 live CD "The Dance."
That was followed by the 2001 solo CD, "Trouble In Shangri-La," which was seen as her strongest solo effort since the mid-1980s.
Then came a second reunion with Fleetwood Mac -- this time without keyboardist/singer Christine McVie -- that resulted in a 2003 studio CD, "Say You Will," and another blockbuster world tour that stretched 135 dates.
Now comes Nicks' greatest-hits CD, "Crystal Visions," and, for the second consecutive summer, an extensive solo tour of outdoor amphitheaters. It's a CD that symbolizes her creative renewal, Nicks said.
"I guess if I could say anything about this 'Crystal Visions' thing, (it's that) I've never lost that sparkle of doing these songs, and I've never lost the sparkle for writing new ones," Nicks said.
Nicks is optimistic about her future, hinting that she's eager to return to making new music after this summer's tour.
Another round of recording and touring with Fleetwood Mac isn't out of the question, although she would love to see McVie -- who essentially retired from music after "The Dance" tour -- participate if there is another Fleetwood Mac reunion.
"She was such a strong personality," Nicks said. "It was kind of like Chris was the boss. ... She had a definite defining hand over the whole band.
"So it was very hard for me," she said. "First of all, I had always toured with another woman in the band. That was really fun for me because I had a girl to hang out with . ... That is my problem now with Fleetwood Mac. I don't know whether I could do it again without her. That does not mean that the door is closed. It does not mean that the decision has been made."

Heh one mention in an article is maybe a mistake, but twice within a week gives me great hope. This makes me very happy.
Stevie seems to be in a consistent pattern of saying she's against doing Fleetwood Mac again without Chris, which was her reason for leaving the band in the 90's just with Lindsey instead.

Apparently Lindsey is aware of her feelings, according to one of the UTS articles. It's doubtful, but I'd love to see the five of them tour again.

And there are people who have to spend a couple of dollars in sleeping pills... see how lucky you are?

:blob1: Yes, I know, she can't make new music because now she' s looking at life with a different perspective, etc etc ... but still I believe she will start to work on a new solo (or even if less likely) FM album so:blob2:

That was also my impression, to work on an album and tour with the three boys club (and the new FM self elected leader among them) wasn't exactly the greatest fun she had. I guess before to see them together again there's a battle of powers to resolve.

Does an album have to hinge on a tour? I don't know why they HAVE to tour.... Just go to the UK and record an album with her if she doesn't want to travel... Just get her on the album!! That would work for me... Maybe do a couple of tv things to get the word out... That's it.

Stevie will tour with Fleetwood Mac. Wasn't she the one who handed Lindsey a set list of the songs she wanted to do on the next tour? He decides to take some time to himself and suddenly she doesn't want to tour without Christine? Seriously. She is a smart lady who knows how to work an interview. She is focusing on her own solo package now and suddenly FM will put all the bull**** behind them and come together again. Some added drama of "wellll, maybe they won't tour" never hurt anyone.
Another thing that makes no sense is her saying she has to shorten her set because Chris is doing an hour. Um , Don did an hour. Stevie went on after they broke down the stage...and it was usually around 9:30 ish. Stevie has never played for two hours except for at the beginning of the TISL tour and during Enchanted. To me it sounds like a set up for why she couldn't add a bunch of new tunes.

I doubt the set length will change at all, despite what she says. Like someone else said, she normally plays for about 1 1/2 hours anyway, so what's the difference??
I guess we'll see later tonight.

Well in the 5 days betweeen the Don Tour and the Stevie only tour in 05, she added about 3 songs including Rock and Roll. So she's capable of rehearsing new songs withing less then a week.

I think she explained that in a previous interview. Besides, you can only fit so many songs onto a single CD.

She isn't setting up anything. Stevie tells it like it is, and she's not gonna make up some BS excuses for why she doesn't have certain songs in the setlist.

Did anyone notice Stevie called 'Crystal Visions' a "thing" twice in this article? As if it was something icky that described description!
As for her missing female companionship on the road, she's taken a duo (and sometimes a trio) of ladies' vocalists on every FM tour since 1987. And I'm sure her assistant goes with her, and perhaps a wardrobe mistress or whatever. These ladies are all tight friends with Stevie, aren't they?

I think she refers to the CV album as a "thing" because it wasn't her idea to release it, it was Reprise's.

Just because there were no new songs on the Crystal Visions cd does'nt necessarily mean that she has'nt written any!

You mean Sharon could go to Lindsey to say "Please shut up for a minute... Stevie what were you saying again about the running order?"

I have to agree. How could she not realize she would have to do an abreviated set? Come on. Stevie has proven time and time again in interviews that what she says isn't necessarily reality. Those who don't acknowledge that need to start living in the real world.
