Next to Sharon, nobody is more identifiable with Stevie's band then Waddy. The guy was there at the very beginiing through all her "good" tours 81-86. And he hasn't not been on stage with her since 2001. But why wasnt he in the band for the Mirror through Enchanted tours. Was he touring with other people, it's odd for him to just not be involved.

On a side note, does anyone find it hilarious that he looks exactly the same in the HBO concert as he did on Ellen a few weeks ago

He played with a lot of different people in that period of time. He's on Bob Dylan's "Under the Red Sky" from 1990. He's on the Rolling Stones' "Bridges To Babylon" from 1997. He played on Warren Zevon's "Transverse City" from 1989 and produced his "Mr Bad Example" from 1991 (recommended). And there are lots more records he played on between 89 and 98. I don't know why he didn't tour with Stevie.

He toured with Keith Richards - I saw them here in either 89 or the early 90s.

Yeah, isn't Waddy just frozen in time, looks wise? Much to Stevie's dismay, I believe Waddy had commitments with other projects. I remember an interview with him explaining that he took other jobs because he just never knew when he when he was going to be called on "to do the Stevie thing." In the downtimes he made commitments elsewhere, and that may have conflicted with Stevie's schedule. Just a thought. Another thing, there possibly was some influence from some of her producers to hire other guitarist/musicians. Just another thought.

I've always loved Waddy the best as far as Stevie's lead guitarists go. He really pushes things to another level.
Actually Rick Vito too, but Waddy's number one in my book. Plus, I like the fact that he's pushed her to shake things up, even if she hasnt listened so far.
Maybe tonight's show will bring a surprise.
