that's awesome that she's included in a group of greats like Whitney Houston and Marving Gaye. and 10th place ain't too shabby. at least she'd get to go on the tour.

• 12th place: Sting
• 11th place: Marvin Gaye
• 10th place: Stevie Nicks
• Ninth place: Johnny Cash
• Eighth place: Chrissie Hynde
• Seventh place: Courtney Love
• Sixth place: John Lennon
• Fifth place: Mama Cass Elliott
• Fourth place: Whitney Houston
• Third place: Stevie Wonder
• Final two: Aretha Franklin and David Bowie
• Winner: David Bowie

10th place: Stevie Nicks
Nicks’ sandpaper-and-honey voice set her apart from the field of belters. But while Simon rarely had anything bad to say about her vocals, he continually harped on her long, flowing outfits and ride-the-wind dancing: “Sometimes I wish you’d just stand still and sing without all the distractions.” She tried that and was eliminated almost immediately on a tentative performance of Gloria Estefan’s “Cuts Both Ways.”
