Tracy Young confirms new Stand Back remix [Archive]

so, I was sitting in the little cafe outside my hotel in L.A. eating dinner and browsing the current issue of Gloss when I came across a Q&A with Tracy Young. below is the excerpt:

Tracy, you're known for some of the best vocal remixes out there. What's new from you these days?
I just had a mix of Stevie Nicks' "Stand Back" approved, and when I found out I was jumping up and down like a little school girl! I don't think she lets people remix her very often, like Deep Dish did not too long ago. Well, you know, remixes that aren't bootlegs.

sweet...I can't wait to hear it. by the way, L.A. is ****in awesome. I have walked probably close to 4 miles today and I am not kidding at all. Sephora basically held me hostage for a couple hours. I'm back in the room and about to hit the sack.

I wonder if this new remix has already been leaked to the clubs? Tonight, at NOTS they played a dance remix of 'Stand Back' which I have never heard before- and sounded very new and contemporary.

YESSSSS!!!! I've always wanted(and wondered why there wasn't one)an official club remix of Stand Back. Now finally, FINALLY! :) One thing I hope they do is follow the format of how "Planets of the Universe" was done:A few contemporary-style mixes, and maybe an old-school style extended version. I hope this is available for sale to anyone(not just for clubs). :) :) :) :)

Here is the song and video for SB that this group called Linus Loves covered pretty recently. Let's just say, at first i thought the woman singing it was Macy Gray! :eek: Oh, and not to mention, she looks like Nelly Furtado.

The woman is Sam Obernik and this is actually a very good cover, plus the video is a hoot. Another cover that came out the same time this did was by an act called Stereo Soundclash feat. Louise Carver, which is also very good. Louise sounds a lot like Natalie Merchant.

I've seen other Bands/Artists do that... Some tracks hit at radio, some miss - but if they hit, but aren't really a single, they show up on the charts as an "album cut".:shrug: Not sure what sets an album cut apart from a single - unless it's the ability to purchase the track that determines whether it's a single or not.

Landslide and Rock and Roll were the first two singles.

The term single can be confusing. Most of us think of singles in the commercial sense. But a single is a generic term for any release from an album that is used for the purpose of promotion, so that includes commercial and radio-only singles. Radio refers to these releases as singles. Also, if you look at the Billboard Singles Reviews, they include both commercial and promo singles.

An album cut is a single that doesn't have a commercial and promotional release. It's just being played from the album.
