I thought it was pretty good. I've seen better, but it wasnt **** by any means. What I thought was interesting was her response to Ellen's Fleetwood Mac renunion question. She didnt seem all that enthusiastic about it, which surprised me.

hi...i thought she did a fantastic job on stand back and landslide was cut at the end of the show by rolling credits...as to her not being enthusiastic on a new fm cd after seeing the say u will behind the scenes on veoh i'm not in the least surprised...she did say "i can't do this anymore" meaning all the fighting with lindsey on the syw album...i think she's just happy doing her own thing and playing with other artists...she's not totally against a new album...just has other priorities right now and she did say after the summer tour ends she's going to take some time off...take care...pat

Stevie did pretty good. It sort of sounded off or she just didn't have alot of energy? I wish they didn't cut Landslide while rolling the credits. Was hoping she and Ellen would have had more time to have a long conversation. Stevie looked great!!!! Can't wait to see Lindsey tomorrow on Ellen's show.

I haven't seen it yet- I'm going to try between patients. Did she do a sit-down interview with Ellen? or only a couple questions between performances?
I watched the tape @ on my lunch break. Yes, she was very animated during Stand Back. She & Ellen hugged after this song. The audience all got a copy of CV. I don't know if that's just the CD or CD/DVD combo. Ellen did ask her about touring with FM again. Stevie said you never know despite the fighting etc. I guess Ellen didn't think she sounded like that was for sure, so then Stevie said that isn't a no, it's not a no. So if it's not a no, I guess that's would be a yes, huh?
Then Landslide was the last song which you didn't get to hear the whole song because they then rolled the credits & went off. I hate when they do this. She did look good & sounded good, too.

The show airs at 3pm CST in Chi so I haven't seen it yet. Maybe Stevie was not enthusiastic about FM (and it's weird for Ellen to call it a "reunion", because the band is still together, just certain members doing their own things at the moment) because Lindsey is somewhat slipping away from her; in that he has a family and he keeps saying this is the best time in his life...etc. Maybe the magical thing between them is just too hard for her to maintain in her heart (the secret emotional pain it is causing)...to be with him again in the context of recording, singing, and touring may just be something that would be a constant reminder that still she may never fully have him. I believe she is a strong lady, but a heart can only take so much. Just my thoughts.

I went home for lunch and watched - loved the SB performance. I wasn't paying much attention during Landslide - dishes - rushing out the door - I'll watch it again later. Was that Lenny Castro on percussion? I was sitting far away from the TV while eating and couldn't tell...And who's the new keyboard player? Anyone know?
Same black dress - that low cut one w/ the doily trim. Boots! Black gloves!
I was disappointed that there was no sit-down interview. They should have cut that stooopid ink thing that I ff'd through and made time for a Stevie interview.
Ellen said the audience was getting copies of the CD - whether she meant that literally, or meant to say CD/DVD, I don't know.

I am so disappointed they didn't interview her. I sat through everything (Anthony Hopkins barking like a dog? OK, it was a little funny) thinking that there was plenty of time for a little Q&A session with Stevie, but they put so much filler in that she only had time to sing.
Eh, SB was just OK. Not my favorite version. Landslide was beautiful, but they cut to an American Airlines credit, so you could still hear her, but they were showing an airplane, not Stevie. I wish Landslide had been first, but I'll take what I can get. And maybe she didn't want to disappoint the audience by saying no to another FM comeback? She didn't seem that enthused to me.

When it comes up on Youtube I'll have to check this out again. It looks like Lenny in back on percussion?? ABOUT TIME! I like Taku, don't get me wrong. I've spoken with Taku before and apparently Lenny is one of the best out there, and as a musician I agree :-) And new keyboard players? I know sometimes the band memebers can't make it, so we'll see who shows up on tour. I'm pumped!
As far as the show today.. eh.. it was "ok". I think she's use to singing and having her voice up and going later in the evening.

Woke up bright and early to watch it -- we get three different channels that air 'Ellen' throughout the day, but I had to watch the first airing. *nerd*
Stevie looked GORGEOUS, but I thought her vocals on the beginning of "Stand Back" were a little off. Maybe it's hard to just walk out and start singing cold. She was very animated and seemed to be having fun.
"Landslide" was stunning and her vocals were perfect... too bad they didn't air the entire performance. If they had trimmed the fat of the show a little, they would have had time for it.
All in all, it was worth getting up for.

I bet lindsey's doing big love and NGBA, then tomorrow....They advertised her guests for tomorrow's episode about seven times during the episode -- they kept mentioning Larry King and "The Glute Lady." Lindsey was only mentioned once at the tail-end of the show, and it almost seemed like an after-thought.

I think Brett and Taku are with Lindsey this year. He gets custody of the Mini Mac musicians, Stevie gets custody of the back-up singers, Mick gets custody of ex-Fleetwood Mac guitarists, and John...well...John doesn't get custody :distress:

(That is funny about the custody of the Mini Mac musicians).
I wonder how all of that is determined. Pre-signed contracts? Lindsey pays more money? I can just hear it now...
Lindsey: I want Taku/Brett the first half of the month, and you can have them the second half.
Stevie: Oh, no, that will not work. Taku is one of the best percussionists, I can give a little on Brett, but NOT Taku. or I get them the first half of the month and you get them the second half... or every other week.

If they give him two songs to perform, I think he'll at least do one new one from his album. He's intensely into his new stuff, and much more likely than Stevie to take a "risk" and perform a new song.

04-24-2007, 06:25 PM
Not one of her better performances for either song, and I believe it was due to nervousness. It's funny, cause you think after all these years she'd be used to doing the TV stuff and not be so nervous. But she's always admitted to being nervous for those types of things. My co-worker watched it with me and thought she sounded bad. I explained that she's much better in concert, with her fans as the audience.
Maybe Stevie should go back to taking that shot of tequila before a performance. Poor thing.

I thought her performance was just fine. She was definately more animated than usual. My beef is with the Ellen Show. I love Ellen, but she gave Stevie the short shift. With that annoying actor and all the cross promotion and stupid skits...Stevie was pretty much an after thought, squeezed in at the end of the show. She deserved to be the main guest. I assumed that she would have sung a song, then sat and chatted with Ellen (not about Fleetwood Mac) and then come back later in the show to do Landslide.
I am a little bit dissapointed.

You know, I didn't mind Anthony, I thought he was funny. I liked the game they played, but the fact that they played a 30 second clip every time they went to a commercial (which happened ever 2 minutes it seemed). Between "later in the show we have Stevie Nicks" and the "Next is...later is Stevie, Tomorrow is... and Thursday is..." and all of the commercials, I'd say her actual show was only on for about 40 minutes.

I hope someone will make a few screencaps of her SB performance. I don't know how but I might have my son try to show me. I want a photo of her "squat/mic pull". I adore that and she did it just like the old days. A low squat with her legs showing. Booyaa! Go Stevie. I liked the little vocal inflections and ad libs during SB...esp the "aah, ahhs" instead of "ooh ooh". She did lots of little hand gestures for the "first he took my hand" and stuff like that. Landslide sounded lovely but when that damn American Airlines plane showed up on the tv, I was so pissed.
BTW..... Lori rocks my world. I have missed her so much and she adds so much to Stand Back. Jana is really not needed anymore and she tends to over sing and screech. I adore Sharon and Lori and am so glad Lori is back for this summer's tour. It was pretty cute when she caught a glimpse of the camera man during SB and she snickered. She looks and sounds fantastic!

I was disappointed- I though her TODAY show performances were outstanding,
but this seemed too animated and rather fake. It hought she was truying to sing on a higher note throughout Stand Back and ended up speaking parts of the song instead of singing....it just sounded off to me.
Landslide was better, but the TODAY Landslide was excellent
Just my opinion, I know....but I may be in the minority, but I am not buying tickets to this concert- I have seen her too many times when she was younger and sounded fantastic at least I liked the way she sounded with the huskier , raspy voice and I think...this concert series will not be really special.
I still love her, but I am going to miss "this edition" of Stevie.

[QUOTE=Kelly;682840] I want a photo of her "squat/mic pull". I adore that and she did it just like the old days. A low squat with her legs showing. Booyaa! Go Stevie.

Her performance was better than I expected. She moved around on those platform heels. Her voice sounds good and she is not straining it. I could have been spared the leather biker gloves. And the local news cut off the ending credits to Ellen so Landslide was chopped.

I think she did a GREAT job! She was very relaxed and into it. Far superior to her Super Bowl performance.
Hear, hear!
I thought the drums sounded excellent too. Real crackin'. Not usually the case on teevee.

I just sent a comment into Ellen's show expressing my disappointment of no 'couch time' with Stevie or Lindsey. Wonder if they will read it??
Has anyone else sent anything in? Maybe if we get enough comments she'll interview them next time! (Who knows when that will be though!)

Yeah, all the filler was stupid, there was plenty time to do a short interview. She did sound pretty rought at the beginning of Stand Back, very goat-ey :sorry: Looked hot though- love the boots!
I thought the same thing. :o
Poor thing.
~jamie
Yeah, not great for me. I liked some of the new vocals on Stand Back but didn't like some others. Can't think of specific examples right now. She did nail the high "taaaaaaaaakkke me hooome" though - awesome.
Landslide was nice. It could be great if Jana would stfu.
I am not a fan of current Stevie squatting. :sorry: It doesn't look like she's really putting all she's got into the song - it looks like she has to poop.
I was so happy to see Lori too. Jana - ugh. Loved Stevie's boots, still hating that mid-length skirt (should be either a tad longer or a tad shorter, IMO.) Love the return of those tassled sleeves, but not sure about those gloves. I think they're hot by themselves, but didn't love them with the rest of the outfit.
Okay, did anyone else notice that she did her little SYW lasso move there in SB?
It is almost like she just does it out of habit. :)
I saw it. Cute.
BTW - The musical guest on Ellen almost always gets their second tune cut off. Not sure why.

it was almost as if she was shouting/belting out Stand Back instead of singing...I dunno guys, I watched it a couple times and I dont think I am a fan of that performance. blasphemy, I know...
as for the LASSO MOVE... Ellen doesnt come on til 3pm here and Sara called me and yelled "Stevie is going to play Say You Will on Ellen!" and I said noooo she is playing SB and Landslide...and she said "Well she must be doing the SYW 'dances' in Stand Back now!" , I guess the preview they showed right before the show came on had her singing the moment of the lasso or something...I thought it was hilarious!

WOW! My favourite actor and my favourite singer were in the same Ellen Episode?!? I hope they talked.
Anyway, about Stevie, I think her performance was great. I'm not the greatest Stand Back fan (yeah, I know, it's an outrage but its 80's feel is a bit unnerving at times) but she gave a very nice rendition there. I also liked a lot Landslide, even If I've just realized that I don't like the refrain sung also by the vocalists. It's strange usually in concert it doesn't bother me. Maybe in the studio performance the audio wasn't mixed well.

Boring...same song she sang at the Super Bowl, same other song she sang on Today Show. Same outfit. Same arrangements. I grant you, she bent her knees a few times and pulled back the mic, so I give her props on that. And, as always, she looked and sounded great.
Everyone has his/her own opinion and mine is that I am totally sick of Stand Back and Landslide. She's got other songs on CV, why not sing them.

What I thought was interesting was her response to Ellen's Fleetwood Mac renunion question. She didnt seem all that enthusiastic about it, which surprised me.
I think she was enough enthusiastic. I mean i don't think she desperately needs or wishes a new fm album, but the idea is cool to her. Maybe she didn't want to tell anymore cause there has no been enough conversations with Mick and Lindsey to set a date to begin..

I enjoyed the Ellen performance. Her voice seems more ragged than ever, but I’ve come to expect the sound and quality of her voice will be a little different every time. She seemed very playful onstage, looking less robotic than before. I love how you can see her boots going all the way up. This look is very flattering and more contemporary. I prefer this look to the skirts that go all the way down.

I couldn't tell if you were joking...but
There's nothing wrong with the performances. She executed well. It was still boring. It's like I love certain musicals but at some point I lose interest in seeing them over and over because it's the same thing. I realize it's enough for some people and I'm a bit envious of them.
I'm thinking of skipping the Concord show...I only want to go if I get a great seat and I don't know if I want to spend $150 for the same old thing. I'm a little depressed that it has hit that point. I loved the Vegas gig last year because it's a more intimate venue and I liked meeting the Ledgie. But a shed show an hour outside of the city without much really new?

She really doesn't even have the motivation to shake things up because she has that same group of fans who will continue to pay big money, over and over and over and over and over, to see the same old stuff. I cannot understand spending thousands of $, missing weeks of work, traveling all around the country, to watch the same set I have seen a few dozen times in the last two years. (ok, ok, she has changed up a few songs but the core set has not changed at all) If ticket sales were sluggish, maybe it wouldn't be so easy for her to do the same thing year after year. When fans consider a solo version of "Silver Springs" as 'shaking up the set', there is a problem. I love Stevie and I will see a few shows this summer but I am looking most forward to the show with Chris Eye Sack because she may do a few tunes with him, and that will be something fresh. I won't fly all over the country this summer, which is something I have done many times since the Dance era. I find I appreciate the shows I do see, when I do not over do it. If she was touring to support something totally new, ala TISL, I would probably want to do quite a few shows.

Will I guest I,m must be one of the retarded one's, for over 25 years I been going to Stevie/FM concerts.Ya I will never Fly or drive across country to see her, or FM,I just stay in my 300 mile radius from my house.Ya I agree about the same set lists.they get boring after the 5th show in the row. she should change the set list for each show, but that must be a pain in a a$$ to do.Like I said before, I think she's afraid to put out new tunes to match up with this new
generation music. critics and people will be saying here's a has been trying
to get into the new sound.btw. I hope the next time she's on the Ellen show. I hope her and Ellen have a chat session on the couch, forget singing one song.

i totally agree.
this summer, though, i have decided to go to just one show. it's been hard to resist going to ticketmaster to see what kind of seats i could get for other shows - but i'm very, very happy her toronto-area show is a solo show. i've decided not to drive 4-5-6 hours as i did for the SYW tour, and the stevie-don tour to see the same old, same old setlist.
