View Full Version : Lindsey AND Stevie on Ellen

Not a hoax, but not on the same date...

New to my TIVO wishlist...

Stevie on Ellen on 4/24

Lindsey on Ellen 4/25.

The million dollar question: Do they do the Letterman thing? Lindsey could, at the minimum, show up and play Landslide...

What a coup for Ellen though... Nicks one day, Buckingham the next.

Who knows. There must be a reason Stevie's date got changed. I'd be very surprised though. Or maybe not.

Cool! Maybe one of these talk shows could actually sit down with the guy for a small intereview??

How about Leno next, since they are on that coast at the moment.

Lindsey on Ellen should be fascinating! I hope she interviews him. Interesting timing with them both being on within one day of each other. I wonder when his show is being filmed? The View, Oprah, etc film more than one show on certain days of the week.

If Ellen was in New York, I would definately try to get tickets to both. :)

Does Ellen normally interview the musical guests? I've never watched her show all the way through but I enjoy her enormously. And I also find it cool the little connection between Ellen and Lindsey, so I'm hoping she chats with him, if nothing more than mundane questions. I think she's hilarious.

Yes! Maybe Ellen could start that conversation by mentioning "Come".

"So Lindsey, you have this song that goes something like "think of me Sweet Darlin, everytime you don't come."

The possibilities are endless.

I think that Stevie and Lindsey should get together for these shows with a small string ensemble with bassoon and some other woodwinds, and Waddy and Neale and play "Frozen Love" in its original key.

It really wouldn't be that hard to pull off. That song isn't too high for Stevie's voice and Lindsey (of course) can still play also those parts.

Why not???

La Nicks sang a bit of FL and it sounded great. Their choices are so strange. You'd think they would get tired of the same old shiitte.

Personally, I think LB hates BN as he never plays anything from it and in Madison, you could see that he was over it.

"By her mid-20s, Heche says she had two personalities, herself and "Celestia", an alien from another planet who could talk to dead people, see into the future, and was a half-sister of Jesus Christ."

What a catch! I'm surprised anyone let her slip away. :D

It would be funny though. I can just hear it now...Ellen: "Can anyone in the audience guess what it is that Lindsey and I have in common?"

I have never really been an A.H. fan, but that excerpt from her book where she says she never heard of Fleetwood Mac (for gawd's sake the woman was born in 1969) was just ridiculous. She's quackers, and I just ignore what that might say about Lindsey at the time. I like the whole, "I usually don't ask chicks for their numbers on planes" line (or something to that extent). I think he may have been just a tad desperate. Perhaps. Or maybe she has some kind of appeal I am missing.

Eh, you don't know why he looked pissy. Maybe he was mad because it sounded like ****? I seriously doubt he hates BN, I think it is more likely that it is his "baby" and he doesn't want to play anything from it, if it is going to come off like crap. Personally, I think DLMDA-Madison sounds bad because of the drumming. Mick sounds too.....slow? Something is off with the drumming and I would bet it really upset Lindsey to be playing something off his "baby" that sounded that bad. Personally, I think the whole BN release thing is about timing and they both want to put it out when the time is right. Maybe at the end of the cycle or whatever. Full circle. I think it would be rather cool, and fitting, to start and end their career with the release of Buckingham Nicks. :)

I just get that vibe from him. But, who knows - he may want to tweak it for five years and then release it.

Ending on it would be great though. I do, however, fear what it will sound like out of the original key.

How disappointing. I had to sit through Larry King, a belly dancer, and stupid videos before FINALLY getting to see Lindsey. He brought Neal, Brett, and Ruben (is that his new percussionists name?) and started playing SUD, so I naturally thought that he'd play another song, but he didn't. They did a great, little bit different version of the song with the band joining in after the first verse or so. There was no interview, not even one question from Ellen, and no second song, just more dumb videos.

Nah, seriously, it wasn't bad. I especially LOVED what he was doing during the last 45 seconds or so of the song. Very pretty.
My mom thought the whole song was terrific.

I'm still trying to figure out, though, how these "stripped down" songs can sound more busy and "cluttered" than his music ever did before, even when he was throwing toy pianos, chair-backs, cowbells and the kitchen sink into the mix! Guess it's just not my thing.

I thought he did sound good. Didn't f*** up (...remembering the R&RHOF induction show). I was expecting two songs, since Stevie got two. I think Larry King went too long. And the "glutes" lady, was she demonstrating how to get a skinny ass, 'cause she has no business doing that.

Just wanted to throw this out there. When Stevie did "Landslide", she needed the two guitarists. I've seen her do it with her guy, don't know the guitar player's name, and during the "break", I don't know what it's called, when there is that solo, I've seen her regular guy play the rhythm and they had someone on keyboards do the lead. Yesterday, one guitarist did the rhythm and her regular guy played the lead. I have to laugh. Is Lindsey the only one who can pull that off?

Anyway, any exposure is exposure. I was happy to see him on.

Sharon (from Buffalo) (I'm only saying I'm from Buffalo 'cause I've seen another Sharon around the Ledge).

Were you just using toy pianos as random example of the plethora of instruments and sounds he would use or did he actually use one somewhere? Because I am seriously obsessed with the sound of toy pianos and I would flip if I heard one in a Lindsey song.

What? I do not think Stevie really "blows" Lindsey away. Back in her BellaDonna days, I could understand the comment but not now. They both really bring totally different qualities to the table, so it is unfair to compare them. Personally, I feel Stevie's music lacks something when Lindsey does not produce it. (I love Jimmy's work, too)

Anyway, the performance was great and I loved the arrangement. I didn't see any smirk at the end, just his nervous smile.

Hey Gaius, I thought that the grooving cuban actually added bigtime on the song. The guy just friggin puts a rythmpattern on it which makes you even search for the beat more than ever:eek:  , but at the same time there's a very definite and secure base in the song now, that holds it back more from the vulnerability of the original. It became somethin' else! I hope wally's going into the studio with him next time soon.

BTW; thanks for posting and whoever doesn't like this: For me it's simply unimaginable that there are people who don't see, but even more, FEEL the brilliance and originality in this.

I liked that arrangement, but I still prefer it as just a single guitar and voice. Variety never hurts though and kudos to Lindsey for shaking things up a bit. I'd like to hear it without the other guys on guitar (or maybe a bit more subtle) but with Wally still doing percussion. I loved what he was doing on this song.

Thanks Macfan for uploading it. :wavey:

I have to say, I LOVE the musical arrangement, very nice work there. I especially love the ending. Top notch performance. The one thing that I could again criticize is the way he forces his voice on "looooohoooooong" near the end. I've commented on that before, I hate it when he does that. But other than that... splendid.

The one thing that I could again criticize is the way he forces his voice on "looooohoooooong" near the end.

That and the fact that he was horribly "pitchy" in the first 10-20 seconds of the song. His pitch is just not that reliable...which is always extremely noticable on TV. That said, his guitar playing was incredible. That song has grown on me. I much prefer the way he sings it live than the whispery vocal on the recording.

hell yes, thank you.

luckily, i made it to the tv in time yesterday to see the performance. amazing. i am totally digging the new arrangement and the balls/confidence it must take to debut a new arrangement on a nationally televised program.

my homeboy is bringing his A game for this CD and tour in a totally legit respectable way. sales figures aside (which we weren't expecting anyway), you couldn't really ask for much more from this man at this point in his career. sure, we'd all love to hear our favorite album tracks go live, but that's the case for almost every performer's hardcore fans. ba da da da da. i am lovin' him.

dance era, lindsey and stevie performed on letterman 2 nights in a row. he helped her on landslide, she sang harmony on big love. i can't remember if they did other tracks or not.. it's been a while since i've dug that tape out. it's probably online.. check youtube maybe.

They did not do any other tracks to my knowledge...only Big Love and Landslide.

Cool. Thanks. I've seen the Big Love performance but I didn't see Landslide. It's on veoh. But I was like 12 when that happened so I don't think my dad would let me stay up or something.

Walfredo (Wally) Reyes Jr. "the groovin' Cuban"

He definately rocks bigtime. And he looks  .

He needs to keep that guy around. He brings a lot to the table.

I'm with you there. I mean, I liked Taku with both FM & LB, but I think I like Wally better.

Gosh you guys make me drool for seeing this leg - I have yet to see Wally.

He's pretty damn awesome. Of course so was Taku, but Wally rocked it a bit more...had a little more "wild and crazy" to him it seemed. I don't know how to describe it well.
