I met a guy today and I want to marry him. His name is Yusef Komunyakaa and he's a Pulitzer Prize-winning poet. My question is: is he too old for me? He'll be 60 this year. I'll be 25.
Here's a visual aid.

What a dreamboat. But you know, since you posted that picture, you'll have competition. If you get calls in the middle of the night from strange girls (or even guys), don't be surprised.

And the internet won't tell me!!!11!!1!!1!!!1 There are so many reasons that our relationship could fail. :distress:
Seriously though, he's hot. He's really hot in person.

You could try going through his wallet when he's not looking? Or um... I don't know. Usually my gaydar is awesome, but I've gotta be around the person. Could you buy him a plane ticket to Canada?

Sometimes I ask myself the same question about Morrissey. He is thicker now, but he's still Morrissey.
See, the secret about Morrissey is that he is gay and he is in love with intellectual men.
Jocks need not apply.
P.S.- Morrissey is really, really, really hot.

^^ i say go for it! well, find out first if he's gay... and then if you have the chance, and it feels right to you, do it! i've had a HUGE crush on a man 15 years older than me. i know he was attracted to me - we talked about it - but the age thing freaked him out. he's also in a superior position to me at work, and i think he worries about that. so i endure my enduring secret love for him (which isn't always all that secret - he SO knows) but i know he doesn't feel comfortable going there.
yet. ;)

so, absolutely go for it! (and then come back and tell us what happens!)

Okay, does he move you in your soul? Does he touch your mind? Does he stir your passion? Does he intrigue you? It seems yes to all in your case...do I even have to answer??? You go and get him.

When I was 25, I dated a guy who was 50. I have to say, though, that age is definitely not just a number and I'd never do it again. Of course, I don't really think I'm cut out for "relationships," but that's another story.

Of course, I don't really think I'm cut out for "relationships," but that's another story.I hate to get serious in my silly thread about the famous poet/Princeton professor and all, but I relate so much to what you're saying there. That provides confirmation that I do need to really think about not even considering relationship with that tremendous age gap, though a couple have been really tempting. And I also feel sometimes that I'm not meant to have a relationship, as you say. I really empathize.

age counts. well, certain ages do. i think that the younger you are, the more it matters. i've had the opportunity and found that after three dates, i'd covered my entire life story and he still had thirty years left to talk about. he had experienced so much - some incredible, some mundane - that nothing could have come from it.
i should have at least slept with him before we parted ways. nothing wrong with that.

1) Your sig rocks.
2) I feel for you, in reference to the guy. I've been there to an extent, too. Knowing how much the other person has experienced and how I can't begin to touch it is depressing.
But I might still pretend I'm dating Yusef Komunyakaa.

some people like to go through life occasionally sharing more than just their genitals with others. and having been screwed over by someone inthe past has nothing to do with that. even ****ing is so much more rewarding when theres love or a mutual thing between people. those kinds of bitter statements just seem a little like they haven't really been thought through

I just spewed my green tea all over myself on that note! BUT it is ABSOLUTELY true...
My students ask me those hard questions all the time about abstinence, etc. I actually practice what I preach! Surprising...even for me.
May I use your quote with the students??? <a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y247/GiniLeaE/priceless.gif" border="0" alt="Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket"></a> </center>

I'm only a little familiar with Morrissey, although I was at his Dallas show along time ago that got released as a video - what a cool ending - anyway...he's hotter than ever now in my opinion. EFFING HANDSOME DADDY!!!

Everything about him is hot. The face, the voice, the music, the lyrics, his persona- freeeking everything. He is male romance personified.
Every coming out male teenager was swooning over him in the 80's (and 90's... and 00's come to think of it).
