View Full Version : Today show performance time?
Does anyone know what time she'll be on?

Stevie will be on about between 8:30am to 9am first song, between 9:45 to 10am for the second, the same time frame as she was in 2005 and Fleetwood Mac in 2003. I recomend you all should watch or run timer set recordings on your tivo's, vcr's dvd recorders for the last 2 hours of the show,8am to 10am,
I've been recording Today show concerts on fridays for awhile now, they came out complete.

Are they outside yet? I think it's to early. I'm not going to bother this year. All performances to date seem to have been inside.

this year (Which I recorded for my wife) was Keith Urban's performance, and KU played outside...so who knows

She is performing indoors today. Someone from
7W verified that with the Today Show. It is 40 degrees right now....too cold for Stevie!
I am not going up this time either. I wish Liz would have booked her on The View! That I could have gotten tickets for. Plus Rosie adores her. (although Joy does NOT like Stevie)

Hmmm...she looked beautiful. The vocal? Eh, I dunno. I am not sure what was going on but something seemed....off? I also really miss Lindsey! And Jana's weird facial expressions are starting to rub off on Sharon...did anyone catch that face Sharon was making during the long "hillllllssss". Stevie looked gorgeous and the top was very pretty and flattering. Loved the jewelry and boots. Why did she 'welcome back' Matt? They haven't aired Rhiannon yet, so I am hoping it sounds better. OOps, coming up next! :blob1:

The Landslide vocal had some good moments, but, other than those, it was okay. And, they need to tone down the harmonies.
Odds are La Nicks recorded her songs at the same time and they are varying the songs in the segment. So, that sould be why she welcomed back Matt.

I thought she looked beautiful too, her skin was very refreshed and she had nice natural nails, not those tired fire engine red things. I thought the vocal wasn't strong tho  , especially during Rhiannon. I missed Lindsey too!!! Landslide has no magic without Lindsey with Stevie IMHO. I love that moon neckalce, I want one for myself. She was very funny and flirty, especially talking about Matt. She said she was a "spinster"...that was funny and cute. Taku was on percussion!!! I love that Linds and Stevie share some of the same people in their bands in their solo live stuff. Stevie and Linds are always at fingertip-length; still connected even if they are on different musical paths at the moment. They are forever. :xoxo:

:) On an impulse, we decided to go down to the NBC studio to watch her this morning. How fun! She looked so beautiful, as always, but very "fresh."
We watched perform her from outside the window, and while we didn't get to see her any more up-close than that I did get to shake Matt Lauer's hand!
(Plus I was front-row beneath Mr. Buckingham at Wednesday's show... So I suppose I can't be TOO greedy now can I?)
It was funny because they taped Rhiannon before she sang Landslide, so that she could leave sooner we supposed. I didn't realize they were doing this and when the sound cut off toward the end of the song I got pissed! Thankfully someone explained what was going on and I calmed down.
Did anyone watch/listen to the segment on Women living alone, and most without spouses. Stevie watched that entire segment behind the camera and it was cool to know that it meant a lot to her as it praised women in her generation living so independently. Another beautiful candid moment I wish that I could have bottled. (Or at least have had a decent camera to take pictures by!)

In a way, I think this is better because she has to sing the standards as written, instead of fabricating her own three note melody.

Cool about a standards album...Would be interesting but I prefer to see Stevie rock out than be a 'crooner'.

I'm not so sure she can still belt out 'At Last' as beautifully as she did almost 10 years ago in 1998.
But I am optimistic, because her voice obviously does lend well for projects like that.

Plus she can sing way more notes, when she's singing lightly into a microphone. It's all this over-projecting of her songs that limits her range.

I think her answering that question and saying that she has ideas about a new album (whether it's a standards album or her own material) proves that she still has interest in making a new record. She just has to do it when the time is right for her, not us.

She also said she wanted to release her "Rhiannon" album. An album of standards would be pretty cool, but I am not holding my breath. As she said on Access Hollywood, "she is very busy until the end of the year promoting CV"..then Fleetwood Mac is a possibility.
I am surprised more people did not comment on her vocal...something was very odd about both songs. I could barely even hear the band on Landslide, minus Jana. Lori sounded fanfriggintastic on both songs...I am SO happy she is back. I think the last time I saw her live before 2005, was 1996! Lori and Sharon should be the only background singers from now on. Sorry Jana!:o

Jana's voice does not mesh with Stevies AT ALL. There were certain notes in that performance that Lori brought back that really MADE the song. So glad shes back. I thought Rhiannon was awesome.

I agree. I think Stevie trying to project & belting it out live on stage diminishes her range. In the studio, it's a different story - more control over her instrument. And 20 tries to get it right. ;)

Damn straight! I know it's been said before, but Jana's screetching hurts my ears!
Stevie was good, but seeing her on TV just does not compare to seeing her live. Maybe on TV it's hard for her to generate the kind of excitement a live audience can provide, I dunno. It's even hard for her to maintain the excitement for more than one show sometimes, so I'm not sure how to pinpoint what makes her "on" during any given performance. My wish for this upcoming tour is consistent greatness. :)

Kelly is not a Jana fan. I love Fall From Grace and on the TISL tour it was super but oh my, Jana just ruins the song now, with the screeching. It is too much. She overpowers Stevie, instead of compliments her. I thought she would mellow out and eventually learn how to enhance Stevie's vocals but that has not happened. Lori completely made Rhiannon today..her harmonies were beautiful, different and totally spot on. She and Sharon just mesh with Stevie better...they are compatible and have been together so long it comes naturally. Jana seems to be more of a "lead singer" and that is not good for what Stevie needs.
Lori deserves some major props for her performance today!

Wait a minute, baby! Was that Bruce Hornesby playing the keyboards?? Sure looks like him...
I taped it this morning & watched it tonight. I think she looked kind of tired. Maybe she had a little jet lag. Landslide was OK. Rhiannon was kind of shakey in the beginning, but about halfway, she snapped out of it, had a little more energy. I know it was a little chilly in NY, but I think she would have had a little more energy if she would have played to a crowd. Everytime I see her in singing in a studio, she seems out of it. Her playing to a crowd seems to make her come to life, JMO. And she really does need a trim. When she was singing Landslide & said "I'm getting older, too", my husband said, "Yeah, and you need a haircut!" Other than that, she looked pretty good.
Lee :)
Would anyone be willing to make a dvd up for me of Stevie's recent tv performances such as the CBS Early interview, the Today Show and the Superbowl? I don't really have anything to trade but I'm willing to pay for it. If anyone can help, please send me a message.

i really thought the backup vocals ruined landslide. stevie's voice sounded good - and for me, the mood was killed when the girls jumped in.
my favourite moment: meredith exclaiming, "i LOVE you!!" and stevie looking at her like, "ooooh. ok, i get it. you're the freak around here," and totally ignoring her. and anyone else see the body language when meredith put her arm around her? tee hee.
(oh, did i mention - i'm not so much a meredith fan)
i always favour more talk and less singing on shows like this, i must say. the energy of a live studio performance is always lacking; i'd much prefer they use the time to chat about things we may not know.

Sharon and Lori are great and do exactly what backup singers should do, blend in with Stevie and into the background. I like Sara and Lynn because they have very distinctive voices. Their harmonies are always appealing. I could picture them as lead singers. I don't care much for Mindy or Jana, who seem to rely too much on their falsetto to the point that it almost sounds operatic.
