Just saw this on etonline.com
More cd promotion and she talks about Britney and Anna Nicole. Should be pretty interesting.

I can't wait to see what she says about Britney! "I may have twirled right off the stage when I was her age, but I never shaved my head!"

STEVIE NICKS gets candid in a new revealling interview with ET, going on the record about what it was like to be under the influence of Klonopin, the same powerful tranquilizer -- along with nine other drugs -- that were found in ANNA NICOLE SMITH's autopsy report.
The singer was shocked to learn the drug connection between herself and the late Playboy Playmate, but in retrospect, she says the effects were apparent.
"I can bring to mind visions of Anna Nicole and think, well there you go," she says. "It's called a tranquilizer for a reason. When you take enough Klonopin you really don't care about anything."
For Stevie, getting off the drug became a matter of life and death.
"If I hadn't gone into the hospital when I did, I would absolutely be dead now," she says.
During FLEETWOOD MAC's performance at BILL CLINTON's 1993 inaugural bash, the singer admits she was on the drug.
Several months later, Stevie checked herself into rehab.
"That wasn't like the 28 day thing," she recalls. "That was 47 long days. I was in a lot of pain. I thought I was totally going to die."
Of course, Klonopin isn't the only drug she took. She had such an addiction to cocaine it burned a hole in her nose. She got treatment for that at the BETTY FORD center.
Now clean and in control, the 58-year-old proves her music can still mesmerize. Her new album and DVD, Crystal Visions: The Very Best of Stevie Nicks, is in stores today. The set features never before seen footage, as well as old favorites.
Living proof that you can come back, Stevie has some advice for another music superstar: BRITNEY SPEARS.
"She has children, so she's got to fix her life," Stevie says. "She doesn't have the luxury of being a crazy rock star because she has kids. When you make the decision to have children, your luxury is over. There's a certain part of you that has to settle down."
But she points out that Britney has time on her side.
"She's just a baby," Stevie says. "I hope she can come out of this."

Le Sigh - I know -- and I remember thinking in that Vegas shot in the CBS interview that she looked rather matronly in the new one
She needs to have me over for marg.'s and I am sure her concurrent make over will impress many!

Very good, though the ET site seems to only be snippets. She looked beautiful, and you know what? The quick shot of SA era Stevie wasn't exactly awful, I'm pretty sure I saw her look worse in some OSOTM press.
But there she goes again on her Klonopin spiel. This drug, when given judiciously, can be extraordinarily helpful to people suffering from anxiety. The truth of the matter is, Stevie (as much as I love her) abused the drug. And her physician (or physicians, she might have been Dr. shopping) enabled this by giving her more. In 1989 or whenever she started Klonopin, the entire medical establishment was well aware of the addictive properties of benzodiazopenes. It should not have been a suprise to anyone that a person with known problems with cocaine and alchohol would simply substitute these addictions with another.

I was at work watching in a room full of psychiatric patients and they seemed raptly attentive when she was on .When she said 'I don't know why these doctors would put anyone on Klonopin' one of them yelled out "because they're stupid!" (some of them are on it)

Wasn't she off of Klonopin by the time Street Angel came out? I agree that she looked a little bloated in that quick Street Angel-era shot, but all things considered, she looked flawless, albeit very, very sad. :distress:  I suspect that there is no existing video/photo footage of Stevie when she really hit rock bottom in 1993. I could picture a silver-haired, unkempt, obese chainsmoking Stevie wearing big dark sunglasses and a paisley mumu, and being wheeled into Betty Ford like Elizabeth Taylor... I know that if I had seen pictures like that in the tabloids I would have freaked. Considering how horrible all of that must have been, I am surprised how Stevie can kind of laugh it off these days. Yes, the "pack up the tranquilizers; we're going to Washington, D.C." line was the funniest thing I've ever heard!!

Ah, but there is. I don't have the pic, but I've seen it and it's fairly well-known so maybe another Ledgie can help me out. The pic I'm talking about has to be around 1993 or so, she was snapped going to a premiere (I think) or maybe an awards event. Anyway, she had SA hair, all crimped. But her silver roots were about 2 inches deep and were clearly visible. She was wearing a blue velvet sack-dress, and she just looked so tired and so haggard.

I know exactly which photo you are describing. I was under the impression that was taken in late 1994 or 1995. Also, I thought she didn't start crimping up her hair until the SA tour. For the Bill Clinton inauguration and the SA photo sessions her hair was straight.

Oh I agree, I wasn't digging the two-toned hair she was sporting for a short while during the RAL era. Those 'bathroom' pics are pretty hideous, her face looks like a skull. This pic is probably a good indication of what depths she fell to during her coke addictions worst years.

You might be right, I"m actually none too sure about the year for the blue velvet muumuu pic. 1994 might be about right.

Yes, that's one of them. The other pic I saw from the same event though, had a better view of her hair. You could clearly see the silver roots when you looked at where her hair was parted. Very sad, indeed. But lucky for us, she did bounce back.

There is a big interview about it and her dad explains how they did it and she does to. There also is an interview where she talks about the experience and how these old oil tycoons from Texas ruined their lives with booze and drugs. I wish I still had those. Maybe someone can post them.
