There is quite a bit of buzz about this new rehash, er, release from Stevie. But is it just in our minds, or does the world at large really care?

im not getting my hopes up with this....esp without any new release on the album except some good live tracks....

I'm hoping it's somewhere in the top 100.

I don't know what else is being released this week - JLo's cd didn't get very good reviews - and it's all-Spanish..so I don't know...but I hope that it does better - but I'm going with top 100.

I think she will land between 20 and 30 on the charts... And it's entirely possible that she could be somewhere in the top 20. Album sales lately have sucked! A week ago no.10 on the charts sold 50,000 copies and no.20 sold about 27,000 copies... so if she can move between 20 -30 thousand copies in the first week I think she'll land between 20 and 30 on the chart - and it's possible. There's a few heavy hitters coming out today - but they'll land near or at the top so they won't even get in her way cause she won't sell that many...

I am going to be optimistic and place her at Number 14. I think she could have debuted much higher if she had done more press/appearances. And Liz Rosenberg hasn't done squat, not even a mention in Liz Smith. And everybody gets a plug in Liz Smith. There isn't even a new music video (much less a new song on the radio), or even a hot new remix for the clubs. She doesn't go to parties, doesn't go to awards shows, doesn't go to charity benefits, etc. Most of the world doesn't know she is even still around. Even around NYC I would have expected to see billets pasted onto scaffolding (that's how I found out about J.ho's new release). But nada.
Liz, do your *$(%&(# job!!

I went with Top 50, mainly because it was not advertised at ALL in this past Sunday's ads. Not Best Buy, not Circuit City, ****, not even Kmart. :( Target was it.

^ not only wasn't it advertised, but it seems like nobody is even Carrying it! and plus, I think the charts wont reflect the TOTAL sales of the cd and the cd/dvd combo, just one or the other...so I think the odds of top 40 are a little slim. Let's hope though!!!

Actually Jimmy, I went to 3 stores at lunch (Barnes & Noble, Target, and Wal Mart and all were out of the cd/dvd combo even though they had copies this morning. Barnes and Noble told me they sold 10 copies of the cd/dvd combo this morning. Not sure where all these Stevie fans are from but with no advertising it's a good start.

Well Im glad it was actually a "sold out" type deal and them not just having it. I just don't wanting to be running all over the place after work. What are my best bets? Best Buy? Circuit City? Newbury Comic? Barnes and Noble? Target? K-Mart? Walmart (not happening)? Fye?

I wasn't about to run around town either. I ended up just ordering from Barnes and Noble and it will be in tomorrow.

I'd say Best Buy & Target, maybe B&N. I got mine at Best Buy, but they only had 1 copty of the DVD/CD combo.

Hopefully she does well. I am a bit disappointed. Yes, the commentary is cool...but it seems like the package was put together a little too quickly and not sure for what purpose other than quick $$$.

i'm sure that she can move 20-30K in the first week. the very first store i checked had 2 copies of the dvd/cd and like 10 of the cd alone. i bet like Timespace it will eventualy go platinum, i'm sure it will crack the top 100 or better , although edge (studio) sounds a lot better on Timespace...
does anyone remembr how the last fm greatest hits package did on the charts?

I got to Newbury Comics and they had a bunch of copies right at the front of the store for only $16.99 (CD/DVD). Great deal!

And I'm sure it debuted that high due to the fact that double-disc sets get counted as two units. This makes me wonder whether the CD/DVD is going to be counted as two discs, which would make Stevie a shoo-in for the Top 10. I know way back when that Fitty-Cent debuted at number one with one of those DVD/CD EP deals, so I wonder if this is the same situation...
Also, I'm sure Mama will debut at number one on the Billboard music video chart. I mean, what other music video titles are being released this week?

No, the charts are based on soundscan over the counter sales. Each sale is counted as one unit sold whether there's one disc or two - this determines the chart placement.
When the RIAA certifies for gold and platinum, they have other criteria they use - it's based on shipments from the manufacturer's to the stores less returns. Multi disc sets like FM, with two discs, are counted as two units sold (but only towards being certified) provided it meets the minumum running time of 100 minutes.

If this is any indication, I went on Tuesday to buy CV at FYE at the mall. Now, considering that FYE is the most expensive place to buy cds in the first place, when the guy rang me up, he was surprised that I had picked it (surprised in a good way) and had mentioned that it was the third copy he had sold that day. Now, typically the people who buy at FYE are the people looking for the NEW new music, "today's" music, so the fact that it seemed to be selling well there makes it promising.

Wal-Mart is not promoting CV more, since by Soundscan each disc sold at a Wal-Mart counts as 7 units sold (Dont ask me how they came to reach that number - but I remember it clearly from a magazine I read years ago.)
For the record, Soundscan blows...

If this is any indication, I went on Tuesday to buy CV at FYE at the mall....When Joshua and I were having trouble finding more than one copy of the CD+DVD set, I actually said to him, "I hope Justin is able to find one, too," since I knew we'd be checking all the same stores.
We found one copy at Best Buy and then found another copy at Circuit City. If we had struck out at Circuit City, FYE was the next place we were going to check, since we had already been to Walmart and Target.

2 of the wal marts and best buy in my area sold out of their copies... I think I got the last one at the walmart closest too me and I had to search high and low....
I am thinking a top 20 entry, hell maybe a top 10

I went to my Wal-mart last night [friday] to see what was up. they only had 3 copies
of the cd only, and bought one, on sale for $11.98 was $13.98. on tuesday they had 7 cd's and 1 cd/dvd combo, well I guest I bought the last copy of the cd/dvd combo they had ,now they soldout on the combo. I hope this is a good sign she will have high rank on the charts.if thats the case , our girl at age 58
can mow over these new younger artists with ease.

Actually, SoundScan is alot better than the old days of reporting where you hoped to god Cletus, the record store employee, could add and subtract right. And I'm pretty sure Wal-Mart doesn't get that many counts when one is scanned. I'll ask my professor on Monday.
The record label has to pay to get it's album featured in those ads from places such as Best Buy, Target, Circuit City, Wal-Mart. Maybe Stevie's marketing team at the label decided they would spend that money somewhere else...
I'm hoping she's up towards the top on SoundScan. I am so tired of talking about American Idol rejects and Disney soundtracks every week when my professor pulls SoundScan up in class.

Aww, that's nice! Yes, I did find them, in fact there were three at FYE when I checked. The only thing that bothered me was they were already in the 'N' section instead of being with the new releases.

I was in Best Buy today. They had alot of copies of each. Of course they were all in the "N" section. I took 3 of the dvd/cd combos and put them in the "Hall of Fame Inductee" section up front.
I voted top 20.

Crystal Visions is #21 on SoundScan with 33,828 sales. Since Billboard uses SoundScan for it's charts (except the Hot 100 which also uses BDS information), this is probably her chart position on Billboard
