I did it once to an epically rude waitress at a Denny's when I was about 20.
A group of four of us totally walked out. What can I say? We were young, on a lethal mix of Black Velvet and cocaine, and grouchy.

Never since.

I did it in HIGH SCHOOL, never as an adult. It was on a UIL trip and I wanted to keep my meal allowance.

I guy in my hometown stiffed a waitress, and she chased him down the block, then he pulled a knife, the police surrounded him, and they shot him. DEAD!

In college we were really lit one night and this was in downtown Chicago and we were eating at this Polynesian place called Jimmy Wong's in the Loop. Irt was really late, probably around the time the kitchen was closing, we ordered all this stuff, ate it, and when our waiter left we ran like hell. I felt like I was going to puke because I was so scared. To this day I feel so guilty!!! Jimmy Wong's rocked tho, great food...

I have NEVER done that! Stealing is SO wrong!!!!!

Unless, of course, you can get away with it!;)
But, honestly, I've never done it. I never would. It's not worth the risk.

just a note for those of you who are thinking about dining and dashing:

your server has to pick up your tab.

just sayin'.

I've never dined and dashed. I forgot about a bar tab once, but it wasn't intentional.

When I was in high school, a group of us skipped school and went out for lunch. Our waitress was this horrible old woman who just gave us all the icy stare the whole time we were eating. For her tip, we spelled out "Bitch" in pennies.

on the flip side I have left really good tips when my black heart has its moments.

one time in particular. I was eating at Shoney's late late at night and our waitress looked exhausted, but tried really hard to be sweet and do a good job. I saw one other waitress keep talking to her and yelling at her and stuff. she was really young. I figured out that it was the woman's daughter. I could just about see the tears in her eyes. I just couldn't imagine what all she was dealing with. so, on the bill, I wrote "stay strong" and left a $20 tip. I sat in my car when she picked it up and I saw her cover her mouth and gasp and then smile. that was one of the most priceless moments of my life. Kodakworthy.

.....once as a student I ended up doing this. It was terrible and I've never been able to go back to the city of Manchester since:o . I was 18 and visiting my girlfriend who had gone to Uni there. We went to an Italian restaurant with a group of other students. They ordered loads of food and drink and even to this day I can remember really vividly what I had. Then towards the end of the meal I noticed that some of the people with us were acting a bit strange. I got my money out as did my girlfriend, then it transpired that 4 of the other 6 didn't have any money and had no intention of paying. We couldn't afford to pay for them so....to cut a long story short we ended up running through the city of Manchester chased by Italian waiters. :distress:

But I have tried to make amends by tipping well ever since.

Yep, did it on accident once. The one and only time I voluntarily visited a bar. I gave a nice tip but was so messed up that I forgot to actually pay for all the alcohol I ordered. The bartender actually followed me in his truck and asked if I'd come back and pay. I was beyond embarrassed.

i was a waitress for about...6 months. the worst waitress ever on the face of the planet. But Murray's vet came in and ordered her a filet and her son chicken fingers. I think her tab was 25 bucks. she gave me a hundred dollar bill and only asked for 25 back  I told her I couldnt' accept that, and she insisted. that was so sweet and i will never forget it

Yeah, I did it once. I think I was 16 or 17, and my boyfriend, his friend and I went to Pizza Hut. When we were done eating, the boys said they was going to pay the bill and go to the bathroom, and asked me to get the car. So I did. They never paid. I felt so ****ty.... I kinda figured out what they did when they ran out to the car yelling "GOGOGO!!!"

Funny you bring this up, but I did this yesterday - completely by accident. I was in a hurry and completely forgot the check on the table. I made my friend turn around so I could go pay it, though. I could never dine & dash.. waiting tables sucks hardcore as it is, and most places dock it from the waitstaff's pay, too. I have a soul.. kind of.

I did once by accident. Well, not really by accident. Long story short, I had a B1G1 dinner coupon (go figure  ) for a new restaurant and the waitress said they would accept it for lunch. We placed our order & when the waitress brought out our food she said "btw, they decided that we can't take the coupon." I was pissed so I was like "f*ck this, we're outta here." I had no clue that the friend I was with had eaten a few fries and took a sip of her pop - so technically it was a dine & dash.

The owner took down my license plate # and the cops came to my house. I was still at work, but hubby was home. So he had to go & pay the tab for me. Karma's a bitch though - they were out of business within a couple of months.

Well, to my knowledge, I haven't done it...I might have accidentally done it when I went out to dinner, with the understanding that somebody else in the party was paying. But, I can't be held accountable for THAT.

Now, I will admit to stiffing the server on a tip, but that a**hole had it coming...Rude son of a bitch.
