I went for my regular checkup last week. Last month, I had a bizarre upswing in my blood sugar, which didn't go away until recently. Anyway, I had my HBA1C taken (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HbA1c). Turns out it's gone up a bit in the past six months. So what does my doctor say? "Well, Daryl, you're a Type 1 Diabetic, which means your pancreas doesn't make insulin so you have to inject it!" Why, thank you, Captain Obvious. I guess that's why I've been jabbing needles into myself three times a day since the summer of 1997. I suppose I should have just fallen over and started crying right there. My pediatrician treated me with more maturity than this guy!

Also, he never seems to notice that I've lost 68 pounds since September 2004.

Sounds like it's time to shop for a new doctor. May I ask what kind of insulin you take? I make insulin!

Man, sounds like you got one of those doctors I have seen about the arachnoid cyst (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arachnoid_cyst) in my brain.

"Well Mr.J, you have a tumor in your head that is causing all the problems you have been suffering."

Well no **** Sherlock!

Debbie is Type 2 diabetic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diabetes_mellitus_type_2) , who is now on the edge (NOT of seventeen  ) of becoming Type 1.

"Doogie" (aka Dr.Hamilton - whose both Debbie & my doctor) gave Deb options this past Monday to avoid the insulin injections and complications of type 1, so she is taken the options to heart (Those options, at the worse case scenario, would include a "stomach staple" procedure.)

When my Mom first came out of an attempted pancreatic cancer surgery(once they get in, they biopsy lymph nodes. If the nodes test positive, there's nothing they can do, so they just close you back up. And that was the case). So the FUKCING ASSHOLE surgeon walks into her room, and just nonchalantly(sp) says to her, "You've got a 3-4 months to live", and walks out of the room. As heartless and cold as you can imagine those words being said. Said it like it was no big deal. Took every bit of hope she had.

So I left, and paged her other doctor, who couldn't believe the manner in which he had told her. He went in the next morning, and pumped her with all the hope that he could. And Mom made it two years, which is a loooong time, with pancreatic cancer. All of which was pretty good quality of life, except for the last couple of weeks.

that doctor should've been admitted to the ER cause ya shouldve shoved yer foot so far up his ass he would have to open his mouth so you can tie yer shoestrings.

Edit: Forgot to add (I forget alot of stuff now, not a good sign), when I last went to IHS Lawton (Indian Health Service) I saw the doctor I was now assigned to, Dr.P____.

A day after the MRI was performed, I picked up the results which confirmed I had a 2.5cm x 3.5cm mass (The arachnoid cyst had grown .5cm x .5cm in less than a year) located in the right temporal lobe of my brain.

I took those result to IHS since I had appt. the next day with Dr.P____. At that appt. Dr.P____ looked at the results of the MRI, and told Debbie & myself "No cancerous growth, nothing to worry about, I wont need to see you again for this"

That was so oh NOT hilarious...So back to see "Doogie" and he also had the exact results and said "You should be VERY worried about this cyst". "Doggie" was not very happy with the outcome IHS & that a-hole Dr.P____ gave me.

Believe me, I WANTED TO! He had no empathy, whatsoever. People like that shouldn't be allowed to become doctors.

in that same position 2 years ago. I was very, very, very close to heading to MRMC on the morning of March 21st. I was out the door when my older brother Geary called to tell "The doctor said not to worry yourself, they're taking Mom back into surgery to just cleanup more of the infection in her abdomen."

So I decided, "Ok, I wont have to go up there and raise 52 kinds of hell" since the medical staff was giving my family & myself the screw-job/runaround.

I cannot imagine what would have happened that day at 5:07PM when the doctor announced my Mom had died had I been there in that room (The doctor called my older brother Geary and relayed the message. My Aunt Nora, Mom's younger sister, was also at the hospital at that time and was also told). I would have KILLED him right there in that ICU/OR waiting room (I am not kidding, I would have murdered that sonofabitch right then and there - I'm crying as I type this, the first time all week this **** of March 2005 has come back to haunt me) and noone, I repeat NO PERSON ON THIS PLANET could have stopped me at that moment (My brother Geary & sister Lesa heard on their phones the wailing-absolute-out-of-my-mind-pain I felt at that moment). All the anger built up from the runaround BSing of my family would have come out upon that medical f**ktard.
