New thread--sorry--I didn't know where else to put this but I've been thinking about it all day.
Ok - yesterday evening was normal, I was eating dinner, watching Sex and the City and Clancy was lying around. Suddenly she became very restless, was sort of pacing and growling...so I asked her if she wanted to go outside.
She, of course, did. But as soon as I opened the door she bolted out, barking and apparently chasing something - only there was nothing there
Ok...once I calmed her down we went about our walk..a bit later she stopped, sat, looked up and to the side, like she was looking at someone, then she plopped down on her back to reveal belly (her way of saying "rub my belly!") --but no one was there...I was a ways behind her..and she was not looking at me....
She did this about four or five times, it looked like she was playing with someone.
Anyway--we got back inside...all was well.
Until about 1am. I sort of groggily woke up and SWORE there were swords and knives hanging blade down over my bed. I mean I totally saw it - VIVIDLY...
I don't think I've ever jumped out of bed that fast (except for that unfortunate roach incident)...it scared the **** out of me and my heart was beating so hard...
Am I being haunted? Possessed?
I wasn't drunk or on drugs...and I've never had a hallucination in my life...which is why all of this has me quite shaken....
What do you think? Any similar situations? Shall I check myself into the mental institution?

but pets are good at noticing spectres, so who knows what you encountered.
We have had a few unexplained incidents since we moved into this ol' house during Oct.'92 - One time Deb & myself were watching a movie on the TV in the bedroom when we both saw someone run from the living room into the bathroom. I was scared ****less (As was Debbe), so I grabbed my baseball bat, slowly crept through the hallway towards the bathroom and peaked around the corner to see nothing in the bathroom. Turned on the light and sure 'nuff not a soul was in the bathroom.
The other time was when our deaf/mute (Odd eye - one yellow & one blue) albino cat "Jai" was chasing someone/something (That only she could see) playfully from the living room into the hallway and towards the other bedroom of our house.
Jai stopped at the closed door of the bedroom, proceeded to claw (Which was impossible, she had all her claws removed due to health issues) and (attempt to) meow at the top of her lungs. She wanted into the other bedroom but since we used it as a storeroom I decided to not open the door and have her running amuck. Jai proceeded to sleep outside the door for the next couple of days and would only leave the hallway when it was feeding time.
NOW, the extra bedroom stores all the items that belonged to my Mom - so if anything starts seeming odd I will know who it is and what to say: "Gee Mom, quit chasing John Wayne around in the afterlife - and NO (!!!) I dont wanna hear how ya rode him either - Sheesh, TMI in the afterlife" :wavey:
A few weeks ago, as I sat here and typed messages here on the Ledge, something turned on the ceiling fan & the ceiling fans light. This was late in the night - so yet another spectre wanting to annoy us by turning electric items on and running up the electric bill.

Okay, I would be shaken too. But remain calm. YOU ARE NOT CRAZY.
First, animals are highly sensitive to things humans can't perceive. It could very well be you have some sort of entity in your midst. I don't want to scare you, but it is a possibility. You are not crazy. I started a thread a bit back about this very subject and it seems many Ledgies have experienced supernatural things, including me. I don't know what to tell you except be aware of what is going on and just move through it and don't give into fear, fear drains your power and control. If something happens again and keeps continuing, I would say possibly seek help from clergy or research the place or area you live in to see if anything horrible occurred at some point. That could be triggering this, or, if anything traumatic is going on in your own life...maybe that type of energy is attracting other energies. It's just my two cents, but I feel for you girl.

Wow that is seriously creepy. My dog used to react to strange things I couldn't see too and it used to freak me out.
I'm not sure if I believe in ghosts but when you're alone and your pet starts acting like there's someone else in the room, it really spooks you.

Brian--that running person story is so creepy! But I know you've mentioned before that you're house is somewhat haunted...
lol..thanks for not calling me out as crazy. I do believe in ghosts and all that, as I've stated in other threads. I wasn't scared (ok - the swords scared the **** out of me) of what Clancy was seeing - in fact at one point I said, "can you leave my dog alone so she can poo?" And oddly enough - Clancy stopped acting weird and went Poo!
So I don't know what it was...but Clancy sure had a good time

ot, but one time when i was abusing some unmentioned substances, i saw myself walking through the hallway of a friend's house.. i looked totally evil and it scared me sober, swear to god.
back on topic, pets are really good at sensing things that we sometimes can't. my dog is forever getting up in arms about stuff i can't even see or hear. sometimes she'll wake up and jump off the couch and stand in the doorway and intensely stare into the kitchen or living room like.. don't you even think about coming in here towards my mom.

You need to either smudge where you live or move. You can start by burning some sage. You might be able to pick it up in a spray form at a metaphysical store. Also, tell them to go away. You can pm me if you want more details.:)

But what if they're friendly? Or was that sword/knife incident proof that they're not?
I love sage...I can definitely burn some of that...though I don't know what "smudge" means exactly :o
And Michael...bite me :p

http://www.asunam.com/smudge_ceremony.html I actually did one for a presentation in a religion class once. 'twas interesting.
Were the sword/knives... like... Just hanging there? Were they solid looking? Would've freaked the hell out of me. Maybe it was just one of those lucid dreams? Maybe that's not the right term, but you know what I mean, right? Where you're in half sleep, half awake mode? I've had episodes like that. Not cool.

I think you were visited by friendly spirit(s). :) It's happened to me.

At my old apartment there were a few times that I thought that someone/something else was in the room with me. My cat would run to the big walk in closet and meow like crazy. Having seen more then a few horror movies, I sure as hell wasn't about to follow him and see what was in there. Anyway, right before I would fall asleep I heard someone whispering my name into my ear. It was never anything scary or angry sounding. Just a soft whisper. That happened twice.
The one thing that scared me was the night I woke up and every single light in my place was on. Even the light in the closet without a switch (you had to pull a string to turn it on). It was a little too Poltergeist-ish for me.

 Your edit reason is cracking me up.
Anyway, I thought about it maybe being a dream. Nothing like that has ever happened to me. I do dream very vividly. But this - I remember waking up, I was sleeping on my back, so when I opened my eyes I saw the swords hanging from the ceiling - they were solid - but it was dark...and I was out of bed and at the light switch faster than you can say "bob's your uncle"
A co-worker did just look up swords/weapons in his dream dictionary - very interesting entry.
And hopefully whatever/whoever visited was friendly!

Ooh, I have a dream dictionary! I wonder if my definition matches the one you got. They tend to switch **** up every so often.

First, thanks for that smudging link! Second..the dream dictionary he had mentioned something about weapons representing a hurt that I've internalized...or raw male sexuality...or intense sexuality

No, you are not crazy. Although the daggers and knives would have freaked me out, too.
There is a ghost that walks through my house every now and then. And I am never scared of him -- in fact, I get really excited when I see him. When I first moved into my home, he would turn the television on in my bedroom in the middle of the night. Always a Spanish station and the volume would be REALLY loud. I got sick of that about the 4th or 5th time that it happened and I politely said, "Cut that **** out or get out of my house forever". It never happened again.

Do you want them to come back? If you do, all you have to do is be receptive to it. It's like when John said to Lindsey "I think you should leave now" and Lindsey left the band when in fact all John meant was that he should leave the room.
The sage should help with the clearing of the negative energy.

I don't mind them staying around..as long as their friendly and won't be showing me images of death and such...I'm hoping the Clancy experience and the swords are unrelated...but the fact that it was the first time for both had me thinking....
Either way, clearing out negative energy can never be a bad thing!

good thing about being in a haunted house is that ya dont have to worry about being robbed - I dont think people like to try and ramsack a haunted house.
7 of our 8 cats tend to sleep on our waterbed - and the annoying thing is late at night is when they perk up and look at something that apparently only felines can see. Happens all the time...But that's alright - the spirits in this house are friendly, so I have no problem with 'em.
