Here's a new Joni Mitchell interview (http://jmdl.com/library/view.cfm?id=1580). I had my doubts, but it looks like she might actually go through with this new album thing. :D

She is so smart, and so pissed off and so inspiring.

"A late birth," she tells Robin Eggar. "I kept my legs crossed but here it came."

OMG. Love her. She cracks me up so hard. "N-friends"!

I really hopes she tours for the new album. I enjoy her music allot and would love to see her live in concert. She is a one of a kind.

My goodness... it's one thing for there to be rumors about her being in the studio... but it's another thing for the press to already be hearing finished tracks! Yes!!!! :blob1: :blob2:

Did anyone gasp a little when the interviewer came right out and said "On your last recordings your voice had lost a lot of range"? Meow! If I were JM, I would be like, bitch, this interview is ovah! But I can't believe that she actually agreed. The whole thing about the spine and shoulder exercises she did to get her voice back is fascinating. So I'm dying to hear how she sounds now.

And I wonder if, maybe this Chinese healer could be referred to this woman we know about who lives below a big red mountain shaped like a great huge beast in Paradise Valley... http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/images/icons/icon11.gif :D

I think interviewers have mentioned it before, but this is the first thing I've read where she admitted that her voice had deteriorated. I heard a noticeable loss of range from Taming the Tiger on. So maybe she sounds closer to how she did on Turbulent Indigo?

Couldn't hurt. Stevie started losing it at the end of the Enchanted tour, and it's almost like she doesn't have any control at all.

Well, I'm inclined to think that JM is just talking out of her ass and it really boils down to smoking cigs for the past 50 years. But then again, look at Christine! She must have been smoking for over 40 years, yet she sounds better than ever. I guess smoking affects everybody differently. Still... I would hate to see what kind of black sludge must have accumulated in their lungs.

I totally disagree. Personally I thought she sounded terrible on the Enchanted tour, as much as I liked the setlist. She was screaming much of the time, and she was basically straining to get through a show. The difference between now and then is that Stevie has defined some rigid boundaries around how she uses her voice every night. Unfortunately, this can seem dull and uninspired, but I think she has much better and more consistent control of her tone and pitch.

really, if we're going to name a point in time after which her voice started going downhill, it's the SA tour. yes, her voice was beautiful for the dance, but as far as control/power is concerned, nothing beats SA.

I have always said her live voice reached its peak during the SA tour - some of those vocals blow me away. But then again, I don't mind Stevie's current voice either - I just wish sometimes she'd put a little 'umph' into it

i don't "mind" it now, it's just very limited. during SA she still had a pretty wide range, had complete control, and wasn't afraid to use it.

I think that is the point - she seems afraid to use her voice now, and seems more content with giving a 'good' show, rather than a knock-out one. Its a shame, and I hope she snaps out of it at some point...
