I was off to go to sleep, but I had to read this Q & A. I liked the following question and answer the best:
"But you had some tough times, financially when you were just starting out."
"I was a cleaning lady, a waitress, which I enjoyed. Lindsey and I really had five years when we were, for all practical purposes, married. We had five years to really struggle and have a real life and become real people, so that we didn't get famous at like 18 like Bob Dylan. We actually had to be real, struggling, normal people for five years until the day we joined Fleetwood Mac and the band started paying us each $200 a week in cash and then, as soon as we went into rehearsal four weeks later, $400 a week in cash. I was finding $100 bills in pockets and in shoes and in clothes I had washed and I had to hang the money up to dry. It was hysterical."
The hanging money to dry part reminds me of the scenes from movies when someone is counterfeiting some $$$$

Cool interview! She mentioned the Petty shows at The Greek. Awwwwwww.
"a story about a lady and her goldfish."
I'm glad she realizes that she doesn't have all the time in the world left & had better get stuff done. Keep on going, mama!

I love how she says her year off "vacation" was with Tom Petty. I can't think of a better vacation.

First thing I noticed!
And at the end of summer we're going to Europe to do press for the record
I hope we get some more info on that fast, because if that's the case, I'm not flying out to NYC this summer.

So I called my manager and he goes, "This is your year off," and I'm like, "Well, I can't turn this down," and he goes "OK, but just remember at the end of the year when your year off is over your time off was Tom Petty. He was your vacation."
.......
So no. Everybody thinks I get all this rest but I don't. Tom Petty was my vacation, and it was the most fun I've ever had on the road. I loved it.

But with TISL, wasn't the plan to come over AFTER the summer tour, which would have been after 9/11? I could see why she never followed through with further plans, given that other artists were cancelling entire tours that fall.

I also noticed that she now says they are rehearsing for the Summer tour after Vegas and the 3 Florida shows. I thought I had read that she was rehearsing before Vegas. Now, I'm afraid we really will just be seeing the old Dreams setlist next week.

I could see why she never followed through with further plans, given that other artists were cancelling entire tours that fall.True, I wouldn't have blamed her if she had cancelled it, but nothing had even been in the works. If she was going to head to Europe after her American tour (which wasn't going to work because of SYW anyway) we would have at least have dates or official word before 9/11. European gigs usually get announced further ahead than dates in their home country. That's why I doubt she ever planned on coming.
Come to think of it, didn't she say it during Enchanted promo also?

Even if 9/11 had not happened I still don't think she would have come... There had been absolutely no promotion or anything. And she was lined up to get back in the studio with FM wasn't she?

I like this quote:
So people with the labels tell you, "You're kind of a folksy rock singing chick so now we're going to pair you up with a bunch of famous black artists and we're going to make you wear no clothes and you know what, you'd better do it or we're dropping you from the label."
It's kind of politically incorrect, but I love that she said that!
What does she mean three Florida shows? I think she is confused, because she already did her three Florida shows last month.

My first reaction to this line was: Nelly Furtado! I just wonder if this was actually more of a dig at Jimmy Iovine, who is the head of Interscope (Nelly's label). I could imagine she is appalled at the cr@p music that Jimmy is responsible for overseeing.

I got that vibe too.
I also think she refers to when she collaborated with Prince and how she told him she could never be scantily clad and sing about sex so blatantly - or something like that. I mean look at what Prince did to the virginal girl who sang "My Baby Takes the Morning Train" - then MY SUGAR WALLS

Now you're assuming that they actually attempted any sort of collaboration (beyond the synthesizer part in SB, that is). Put me in the camp that believes that Stevie did not sing on "All Over You."

I am unsure about that. If anectdotal evidence is anything, La Nicks has messed around in the studio with just about every musician she knows from U2 to George Harrison, esp. pre 1985 or so. So, if she hung around with Prince, odds are she did some things with him. Also, he loved taking a pretty girl and transforming her. So, I am sure they did some recording. I think she also commented fairly directly on that by saying she did not want to sing his blatantly sexual lyrics. I cannot find the direct quote though.
The only reason I might dobt it is that La Nicks was a far larger star than Prince at that time. So, it is doubtful she or her people would let him transform her into anything.

She said she planned to tour there and the t-shirts (and I believe that tourbooks) even said "TISL - World Tour."

I think the shows she had to make up due to her illness also played a part in that.

I have a lot I want to do. I want to make a movie out of the stories from "Rhiannon," which came from a Welsh mythological book. I have a cartoon story I wrote when I was 17 about a lady and a goldfish that could be made into an animated feature, a Disney thing. I have songs written for both projects, but until I get some time off I can't do them.
So somewhere in the 10 years that's coming in front of me I would really like to be able to make the space to do these other things before I'm too old to do any of them. I'm 58 years old. I still have great energy at this point but I figure in 10 years I'll be 68, so I need to get some of this done.
That was my favorite part, It makes me feel like she DOES have a plan.Touring is what she is able to do now, and she knows that. I have allways comended her for still going!

NO! Shes releasing a boxed set! Shes retired for sure!

She's been talking about those projects for the last 20 years! At least now she realizes she doesn't have all the time in the world to accomplish them.
The Rhiannon project sounds promising. Aside from The Three Birds of Rhiannon, I wonder what other songs she has written? She makes it sound as if it's a complete body of work.
Goldfish and Ladybug -- ahem...in the state that we know it leaves a lot to be desired. It's no Lion King! Bless her delusions to think that Disney would be interested in it. Better get to work, Stevie!

I agree, it does seem like she has a plan to get all the touring/physical stuff out of the way now while she still can rock a little (pun intended). :)
A weird image just popped into my head if Stevie were in a wheelchair in her later years and still wanted to sing on stage, she can twirl her chair in circles. ha ha ha ha ha..... anyway... back to our regularly scheduled program...
She can dedicate more time to the Rhiannon movie project thing by being in a studio if she felt too tired to go out on the road again and still get her name out there and finally complete this project. Kind of like a lasting ode to Rhiannon, a final masterpiece/story that can be passed down generation after generation.
Maybe her father's passing has really made her reflect on her career and I guess CV is a good way to do that.

Fantastic interview with a lot of great news (hopefully all true)!
1) She's coming to Europe - Well, if someone from Stevie's camp is reading this, could he/she let her know that in Italy we are in sales period and that the trendy colour this year is black :D? Thanks.
2) She has a lot of songs written for two projects. That would mean at least two soundtracks.
Besides, I think her analysis on music industry today and the fact that has become way more sexist is spot on.

Yes, I have read it. Doing press (she better does, because maybe she'll get some attention overhere) is something diferent then doing shows. I surely hope she'll does some shows overhere. Rotterdam (around the corner) would be nice. But I'm willing to travel to Paris, Brussels or Oberhausen (were I saw Mac in 2004) as well.
