I know there was a concerts 2007 thread but I'd like to make an official thread for concerts you're going to or events like plays. You can post information from ticket info, venue info, anything. You can also discuss the event thoroughly. And any other feelings about summer events.

I think that there are a lot of great acts on for the summer. Chicago and America, Styx, Foreigner, Def Leppard, Cyndi Lauper and Debbie Harry...etc. I am psyched about Stevie going on the road again. I am going to probably skip a lot of other group shows since I have so many long distance trips on the schedule for the summer, so I'll probably be going to all Stevie this summer.

I've got Stevie at Turning Stone in June (and hopefully Bay Area in May), Cyndi and the gays in Boston on June 16th, Pat Benatar at the Marin County Fair in July, Heart at the Monterey County Fair in August. I'm hoping for AC/DC tour and for another appearance by Dolly Parton. Oh, and surely Lucinda Williams needs to come back to SF and support her new album?

Theater: really hoping to see August Wilson's "Radio Golf" with Tonya Pinkins on Broadway.

Are you a Broadway freak because I've seen them all:thumbsup:

I'm a big theater fan, and try to get to NY once or twice a year. I love Tonya Pinkins. She was Caroline in my favorite musical "Caroline or Change".

The only one that's for sure at this point is Lily Tomlin - I'll be seeing her on Saturday.

I hope to see The Decemberists at the end of the month in Denver. Cyndi in June and I'm just waiting to see if Dolly and Stevie are going to be doing anything near here :D

I'm eagerly awaiting the Summer Concert schedule for San Diego's Humphrey's by the Bay. It's a small 1000+ seat venue on the water and draws some great shows. Problem is they all go on sale the same day so you have to be prepared to spend big bucks or pick and choose.

Other than Stevie in Vegas next week, I'm looking forward to tours by Lyle Lovett and kd lang on the same bill, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and perhaps the Genesis tour.

OMG! I forgot, I'm going NYC in July...so what's good these days? For the first time there's nothing I'm just dying to see on Broadway - mostly because I've not been paying attention :(

Lessee...

-Stevie in 9 days.
-Bob Dylan in April
-I'll drop in at Pinkpop at the end of May since it's around the corner. This year we have Smashing Pumpkins, Linkin Park, Scissor Sisters, Evanescene, Korn, Snow Patrol, Marilyn Manson and many others.
-Boudewijn de Groot in June.
-Genesis in June.
-Classic Werchter in July. (line-up hasn't been announced yet, but it's always good) Metallica is doing Rock Werchter I think, so they're out.
-The Police in September (IF I can get tickets this Saturday...the other show sold out within an hour)

For a second I thought I had dreamed it but then remembered it was on the poster Brian J had for the Zoo Amphitheater in OKC. I did a google search and not all dates have been listed. I found the most on her myspace account. I've seen them both many times and together should be quite the show.

I was going to go to the Pat show Friday but I said I'd wait because these are all warm-up shows and the real tour starts in July...I'm just going cause it's right next door...Stevie is rumoured to be playing the Mohegan Sun Arena...you should really catch this one...one of the best arenas I have ever been too!

Well, I've ordered my Genesis tickets for September. I'm waiting for Stevie to release some tour dates, so I go to her show. I'm not sure who else at this point I'd go & see. I was hoping for a Van Halen tour, but that doesn't look promising. :distress:

Bonnie Raitt on April 14th

**** me, are you serious? I want!

As far as I know, I'm just going to see Cyndi in June. Next month I'm going to see Women Fully Clothed (http://www.womenfullyclothed.com/WFC.html)( shut up, I know I'm too Canadian for my own good) in Oakville, but does that count as summer?

All I need to do is find something to go to in May and I'll have an event for every month. Suggestions? Seriously.

Of course Im serious - I wouldn't kid around with something as serious as Bonnie Raitt

I would trade in Bonnie in a heartbeat though to see Stevie/Eye-Sack and Cyndi/Debbie - so you're luckier than I am!

I love summer concert season!

I have Dada 4/9 at Park West
Roger Waters 6/9 at the UC
Jimmy Buffett 7/21 at First Midwest Bank Amp.

Stevie will be announcing dates, and I hope to catch her Red Rocks performance (if she plays there)
The Police are going to announce 7/5 and 7/6 at Wrigley Field tomorrow I think. Going to try to score tickets for this!
RUSH will be back this summer!

I am also looking for a cool act to play Charter One on the lakefront. Great venue on the water about 5,000 capacity... Nothing of interest announced yet, but it's early.

GREAT!!! Too great... beyond what I expected. I think it has alot to do with the fact that it's inside this time around. The last 2 times Roger came to Chicago he played outdoors. I expect the sound to blow me away.

Well none of this is set in stone (except the first one), but I plan to see:

- Justin Timberlake
- Stevie
- The Police
- Genesis

I think if I had to choose, I would see Genesis over The Police. Tickets will prob be easier to score anyways.

This reminds of something that happened a few years ago, btw. There was this 'author' who had plagiarized L-Word fic by rewriting it to X-Files fic. Only thing was, she forgot to change certain parts of the love scenes, so you'd have things like "Scully was stroking his soft breast that fitted in her hand perfectly."

Now THAT was disturbing.

It was a story about how M and S were trapped in this factory that was about to blow up or something and only if they had sex would they survive. Needless to say, I threw it out immediately and it took a long time and a lot of persuasion to get me back to reading a story.

I might see Rush...anybody seen them live...how r they...setlists good?

is recommended. The light show alone is worth the admission (If they can top the "R30" tour lighting rig I'll be amazed) and ya never know what they will run out on stage (Last tour Geddy's on stage setup didn't contain the usual bass front line gear, but instead included 2 dryers which tumbled concert t-shirts & a rotating cafeteria sandwich machine full of cds).

The setlists change tour-to-tour, they keep it very fresh and not predictable. They are very tight live, and unlike some artists there is only Alex, Geddy & Neil on stage - no frikkin' backup musicians are needed (Which IMHO is how it should ALWAYS BE!)

Besides, any artist who can get Jerry Stiller to do the devil horns and headbang (Which was Rush intro/outro tapes last year) has my blessings. Not to mention the "Darn that Dragon" intermission movie which is hilarious (A marionette dragon vs. bobbleheads of the members of Rush - The dragon had it won until it torched the merchandise stand  )

I wished they were playing OKC instead of Dallas - I would definitely add 'em to my list of shows this summer.

I havent heard "Far Cry" yet (I dont download music - so unless Sirius is playing it I wont hear it), I'll wait for the album - Trying to decide if I want the regular CD or the DVD version of "Snakes & Arrows".

I am pumped - if it wasnt for those pesky VIP seats at the Zoo Amp I would be on the front row (Oh well, 5th row is still great for a price of $79.75)

I'm jealous. We don't get stuff like that up here in the Nordic country. Although the Prince after parties at Paisley Park are legendary, or so I've heard. Even so, I'd like to catch a cool festival that didn't involve food, Scandinavian heritage, or a really bad combination of the two.
