It has come to my attention that some of you feel that I am not living up to the title of moderator.
I am only a pm away with your thoughts or suggestions. I will take them seriously and in kind.
I would like to offer my sincerest apolgies to those of you I have been short with, hurt or otherwise harmed.
I am very proud to be affiliated with the best fan board on the net. It is not my wish nor my intention to leave.
In the future I give you my word to operate with a kinder, gentler machine gun hand (IT'S A JOKE! That's actually a lyric from a Neil Young song.) Seriously though, I feel it is my duty to serve you in the capacity that you so richly deserve.

And I personally feel you should be receiving an apology for being written to in an unkind and disrespectful manner. The moderators of this board should be treated with respect. Not only do they volunteer their time, they also treat everyone as fairly as possible and do so respectfully and in confidence. Their work could not possibly be easy and, with that, they should be treated with the utmost respect. It is unfortunate that, as often is the case, if someone dislikes a decision made by a moderator their recourse is to make moutains out of molehills never letting go of the bone in their desire to 'geteven.' :distress: Moderators are as human as all of us...good and bad days...high and low emotions...and it is obvious they do the best that they can under often stressful situations. Chris, your note shows you as a kind individual who is open to critique as well that you are open to looking inside yourself and being the best person you can be. That rocks and only ups your cool score with me. A good look within is something everyone should do. What's that they say about stones and glasshouses?

Moderators who wish to receive respect must first show it, something which gldstwmn has recently failed to do. Do not assume that those among us who have voiced concerns about this matter have done so because of a dislike for decisions that have been made or in an attempt to "get even." It's not a matter of "Give me what I want or I'm telling on you." She has shown blatant disrespect for certain members of the Ledge both on these boards and on Seven Wonders and has not conducted herself in a way that is fitting of her position. Put simply: She has not led by example and has commited many of the same infractions for which she has chastized others.

Chris -

While I am glad to see that you are making an attempt to make amends for your behavior, it remains to be seen whether your actions will mirror your words. I have little faith in the ability of people to change but - for once - I hope to be proved wrong.

I will personally vouch for what you have said. A while ago, we had a HORRIBLE mis-communication and mis-understanding, and you were very open to communicating and to getting it resolved. that allowed me to appreciate and respect you. and move on. If anyone has a "problem" then they do need to attempt to make the effort to have it resolved. I really don't want to cause any hard feelings, or stir any ****, BUT, I firmly believe- that trying to MOD Seven Wonders, and threaten Ledge bannings, OVER THERE, was RIDICULOUS. Think about it, folks...
Because.that's.what.happened.

Maybe we should have to list all the sites we visit, let the mods review all our posts, and make sure that our behavior is up to their mods standards. Surely there's some sort of tracking system that can be put into place.

Actually, my biggest problem is her contempt for and condescension towards ryan8472 - a moderator for whom I have the utmost respect.

I understand that people have personal differences with each other, but her insistence on dragging it out into the public forums (while preaching about "moderator solidarity") is inexcusable.

As for the comment made earlier about my behavior, they are two wholly seperate issues and one is not relevant to the other.

Actually(I was gonna give you a link, but that's forbidden, right? It's on SW, under "links"), I said something about "someone" having carte blanche, and she said something to the effect of, "keep talking out of your ass, and you're liable to find yourself spending time on a board with 16yo's" (referring to SW, inferring that I'd be banned here[IMO]).
Very bad mod behavior, IMO.

Regardless of what happened at Seven Wonders, Chris has apologized to one and all and has promised to take a more even-handed approach in her future dealings.

Neither do I.

Our problem is not with her as a person. If she was just a regular Ledgie, I wouldn't be bothered by this behavior and certainly wouldn't have done anything about it, but she isn't a regular Ledgie. She's a moderator and should therefore be held to different standards than the rest of us.

And that being said, I'd like to send my love out to those mods who have done well to keep their cool and be diplomatic in resolving the problems that arise on these beloved forums. :wavey: :xoxo:

Apparently two Ledgies got the delirium of onnipotence (not sure this expression exists in English too but hopefully is clear), after a moderator said something unappropriate in jest, but was perceived as a serious matter and started an inner turmoil (on this forum?... Incredible).

Then, the moderator was classy enough to apologize while the two ledgies are reading right now the "Handbook for the perfect way to get your ego boosted", to find the right way to have their names engraved close to "The Ledge" sign.

I know this wasn't directed to me, but a prescription medication called Griseofulvin seems to be the standard treatment for both humans and pets.

what's going on? apparently two issues have bled into one. homie is offended as he felt he was threatened with ban, and msv is offended with chris's reaction to Ryan's PUBLIC NOT ADMIN discussion of disagreement with Chris' handling of circumstance. pretty simple to figure out and pretty ridic to build to this. Chris has come forth with an apology. I do not see anyone else offering an apology for their actions towards her...but then I would not expect that from those who feel they do no wrong.

Then, the moderator was classy enough to apologize while the two ledgies are reading right now the "Handbook for the perfect way to get your ego boosted", to find the right way to have their names engraved close to "The Ledge" sign.

RomyI think the situation being discussed here has a history that precedes the isolated incident you're referring to in your post. So I don't see the sense in saying that David and Victoria have been making complaints that are coming out of nowhere.

And this goes without saying, but I would strongly disagree that either is after an ego boost. That just seems to come out of the blue and for no reason, IMO.

As my favourite playright would say, Right you are! (If you think so)... Hillary was allowed to express her opinion. From what I can see her post was not removed or altered in any way. Is your point that Suze is not allowed to express her opinion?

As you know, with freedom comes responsibility. No one anywhere, ever, has been totally allowed to say whatever they want ("Fire" in a crowded theatre, and all that). But has it not been a recent campaign of yours to restrict the "freedom of speech" of a certain member whose speech or method thereof you don't approve? I must admit, I find the irony fascinating...

Honey - I walked out of the Waldorf in five inch, knee high, black leather, platform boots, a burgeoning bustier, a top hat, professionally done make up, and a blond wig tied back. The true highlight was when I came home alone (Chris and the posse left before me and sent the limo back) and I had to bang on the Waldorf door with my tambo. and once they let me in and in sort of a high kick move, put my boot on the front desk to try and get my room out of it (in a knee high skirt made from wrapping a few laters of beaded chiffon around my "waist," which was held in my the force of the corset, which was so tight it left marks on me  ) - all of this while being mostly unable to form a sentence due to alcohol consumption and I think I may have been smoking a cig. My dog was scared of me when I walked into the room. Hell, I was scared of me

I've been away for some time- (Geoffrey and I were in Hawaii for almost two weeks)- however.......

Chris is one of the most principled women on this earth that I have ever had the pleasure to (almost) meet. She was dining at Spago whist Jason was wrapping his arms around me.

Homie you should be ashamed of yourself. I've only read a bit- less-informed maybe.

She says "No, kind of, the people at the thing were..." Of course, she loved room service, being driven in a limo or town car everywhere we went, Saks, the hotel, the grand lobby and just NYC in general. I'm going to post a pic of our fab bedroom in just a minute. Gawd we had a ball! :)

yeah, i probably would have opted to stay at the hotel -- and keep said room service coming as opposed to heading to the actual event. i know the four seasons makes some amazing food so i'm going to go ahead and assume waldorf is on par if not better. then again, to see jason like that in person? i might have to venture out

Unfortunately what you can't see here is the fireplace in front of my bed or the view of the Chrysler building out of the window to the right. Down that long hallway was Jason's room, with a fab view but I will let him tell that. It's getting late. The picture of this bed makes me sleepy. Night, night:

Our family breakfast the morning after was incredible. It was in the ballroom, which Hilton had placed a table and chairs in:

Hey friend, "I" didn't start this thread, or anything related to such, on the Ledge. Perhaps you should find out the FACTS, before you speak.:xoxo:
NO ONE critisized Chris as a person, or as a Ledgie. I like her. Everyone likes her! BUT, if boundaries were overstepped as a moderator, perhaps you should think with your head, rather than your heart, before you start pointing your finger.

It is so funny because I am horrified by how fat I was, but it kind of makes the whole deal WAY campier than if I had been thin.

As for the room service - let me just say that they set the table for us and it was divine!

If you would have seen us walking through the lobby - people were taken WAY aback to say the least.

Sadly, I did not know the other Ledgies that were at the event.

The guy at the computer is my very good friend and is also a psychologist (we have therapy sessions over cosmos  ) - he was like - you are going to need medication after this night

AND - I got hit on more times in that drag than I can shake stick at and some of them were girls - go figure!

To make the evening complete, the brown haired guy in the blue t-shirt is another good friend of mine and he is realted to Janis Joplin, which just added to the Stevie vibe.

Finally, the view from my room looked at the Chrysler building and also onto the tops of the buildings across Lexington. We could see into people's fab. condos and onto their patios. I think we even saw people working on the roofs of these buildings at these impossible angles.

As an aside, that suite is where the Hilton family lived - or as the bellman referred to it "Ms. Paris' room" -- I kept looking for discarded needles and empty dime bags

Negative energy in the universe is never good, and it has been my experience that Chris is an intelegent and sensable person who can hanlde a situation like an adult.

Wish I could say the same. I have not posted in quite some time because of the incredibly rude and crass abuse of faux-power exhibited by Chris.
And YES, I did PM her to apologize if anything I said was misconstrued and made a peace offering. What did I get? MORE HELL!! I PM'ed again and got more smart-ass remarks. And YES, I agree that there is too much negative energy going around and how did she respond to that? ... basically continued to threaten "calling me out" and taking other actions. Who needs that nonsense?

I was first confused that someone could be such a frickin' jerk in a place where I have totally enjoyed corresponding with others. But that soon turned to pity because some internet message board moderators, I have discovered, are like those people that are real bad asses IN THEIR CAR! And if bossing people around on a message board gives you a feeling of power and control... well, bless your heart.

I truly enjoyed interacting with others about whatever topic, as well as having a place to share stories about talking with Bekka and/or Billy around town.
However, putting up with such nonsense ain't worth it.
Thanks for the apology but it's about patterns vs. incidence and such unpredictability is boring.

Thank you for this post. I find it quite ironic that Ms. Botox gets away with so many insults and personal attacks, but the minute anyone else says something she doesn't agree with, she goes insanely crazy on their ass (including fellow moderators!). Whatever: it's incredibly ridiculous and hypocritical. And her apology rings quite hollow IMO.

Oh well, I guess this is to be expected from The Ledge. Obvsiously, nothing will happen, since the moderators seem to have a free pass when it comes to board etiquette.

Well, she had the grace to apologize you could have the grace to accept or take a pass. But you've instead chosen to hurl an insult. Don't forget that moderating here is done on a volunteer basis. Lately it's felt like baby-sitting and that gets very old very quickly.

I do not remember seeing any. But, let me state here and now that if she did, she was wrong.

Do you not see that calling someone "Ms. Botox" - particularly here where you did it out of the blue - not only is rude, but beneath you? If not, then so be it.

Do you really hate her that much so that you lower yourself to the very level you you accuse her of?

That minority is not as small as you think. It's just unfortunate that so few of us are willing to say something about it.

I think calling someone out for what you perceive as a wrong is fine. But, attacking someone on a personal level that is irrelevant to the discussion is crossing the line and against the rules.

For example, what does Chris' use of Botox have to do with addressing what is perceived as a wrong. The answer is it has nothing to with it. It is used a tool to attack on a personal level, which is just wrong.

Finally, if she apologized, why not just let it go at that. What personal stake do you have in this so that you want to argue it to death. Wouldn't it be easier just to ignore it. Just a suggestion.

Miss Vicky
03-16-2007, 12:12 PM
I think calling someone out for what you perceive as a wrong is fine.

I never said that I agreed with Moony's use of a personal attack (hell, I wasn't even aware that Chris had used Botox). I merely pointed out that there are many of us who agree that there is a problem, but some have chosen not to speak out about it.

I don't have a personal stake in this, except to say that I frequent the forums in which she moderates. At no point have I ever said that Chris has done anything to me. In fact, in my messages to JohnnyStew and the aministration, I stated as such. However I firmly believe that her misconduct towards other members of these boards has gone on too long and to far too much of an extreme. If she cannot handle herself in a manner that is fitting of her position, perhaps she should reconsider keeping that position.

However, putting up with such nonsense ain't worth it.
Thanks for the apology but it's about patterns vs. incidence and such unpredictability is boring.
Back away from the mouse... get a life. PEACE!! :wavey:

PsychCat, you inferred in a thread about Saddam Hussein that the members who were participating in the thread were uninformed about the atrocities he'd commited. I vigorously rebutted your point. It wasn't the first time I had noticed your pattern of little hit and run jobs like that. So I called you on it. I'm sorry if that hurt your feelings. I have now apologized not once but twice. You can choose to hold on to your anger if that is serving you, which it seems to be or you can let it go. I tried to end on a positive note with you in my last pm to you. I really am at a loss for anything else to say.
Namaste'.

PsychCat, you inferred in a thread about Saddam Hussein that the members who were participating in the thread were uninformed about the atrocities he'd commited.
First of all, and I'll say it again... I was NOT referring to people on these boards and the fact that you find it necessary to PERSONALIZE everything not only makes my earlier point but that of obviously many others.

With that, I have to add that while this particular thread may be about your own atrocities... the website and message boards ARE NOT.
Speaking for myself, I have been a fan of FLEETWOOD MAC (remember them?) for over 30 years and I came here BECAUSE OF THEM. I absolutely love talking with the other fans about the different eras and line-ups. That is one of the amazing beauties of this band is that while they changed... they stayed the same. I may not agree with everyone and they may not agree with me BUT we all get along and are cool with it. Stevie vs. Bekka .... Lindsey vs. Billy... Rumours vs. Time ... etc, etc. Bottom line is we all have a great appreciation for FLEETWOOD MAC.

THANK YOU to all who have written/posted that my absence was noticed. And my feelings were not "hurt" (don't flatter yourself, Chris) but I was surprised to find such an ego amongst the boards... let alone one considered a "moderator". And if you are here to just give everyone some level of hell, PLEASE display an ounce of integrity and do the FLEETWOOD MAC fans a favor by stepping-down as "moderator". I'm realistic and realize that will never happen for obvious reasons.

Here is a link to the SH thread.

You said, regarding SH's execution, buh by and then:

hope plenty of folks will watch the retrospectives about Saddam that will follow this evenings events. This guy was pure evil, as were his sons. No doubt that fact has been forgotten in favor of bashing Bush (which to be honest is SO tired!). At least in this country we are free to say whatever we will about our "leaders" and not fear torture and retaliation.... let alone mass genocide.

to which Chris responded:

Thanks for letting us all know that we don't know enough about Saddam. I've been alive during his entire reign and know full well what an evil asshole he was. Our president is no different. I, for one will not stop bashing him here on this board or anywhere else for that matter. If you don't like the subject matter, you're free to ignore it.

The foregoing is hadly an atrocity

you responded:

Thank you for your response.

to which she replied:

Anytime. We may joke around but this board contains a very intelligent, politically aware group of people. For you to insinuate that we don't know what we are talking about is insulting and I hope you realize that.

I fail to see the harm here other than the response to your rather patronizing post about people forgetting and needlessly bashing W, who the evidence clearly indicates manipulated the intelligence to force the war. If you have other evidence, let's see it.

Then you replied - apparently acknowledging that your original post was offensive in application but not intent - though it was placed in the middle of W bashers who presumably would be included in your revised definition:

I would like to publicly APOLOGIZE to anyone who may have been offended by anything I said/wrote.
I think the world of coming to these boards and chatting with y'all.
I was not speaking of anyone one in general... it's just that there is already so much low energy (ie, hate and dissention) in the world and I suppose I let me ego do the typing. When I said "everyone" I meant everyone everywhere... not just you guys. SORRY for any misunderstanding.
And I better end on that note.
Again... I apologize and welcome any personal notes in response. Thanks!

Then, Chris accepted your apology by saying:

Alright then, let's move on. His exectuion was videotaped and is going to be disseminated amongst the Iraqi people. We'll probably get at least the still photographs with our Sunday papers.

Again, this hardly seems to be an atrocity

I think so too. And I'm not trying to keep this going, but I would like everyone to think about this:
I believe a moderator should be held to a different standard than everybody else. That said, no one is critisizing Chris as a person, a Ledgie, or a friend. Her friends are all coming to her aid, which is quite admirable, but, again, we're not critiquing(sp) her as a friend. We're looking at the JOB of moderator, and if improprieties exist. As far as I'm concerned, it's nothing personal. And the others mods could certainly benefit from this examination. Dontcha think? JMO.

I think her reply to you on the 7W board was meant in jest, but it came across to you in a different way, which we all know happens a bunch when the written word is all we have. In any event, she apologized here.

My biggest problem with the whole thread, is the other members, who can't read the criticisms without jumping in the opposite direction.

But perhaps this explains why many people who don't post hardly at all brought it up and are complaining about it.
