I managed to make it back in one piece and am exhausted. it was a great time and I have lots to share. but, of course, I'm having computer problems...with my iMac. figures. and I haven't swapped everything (or anything actually) to my MacBook. anyway, as soon as I get settled in, rested and figure out what's going on, I'll share a review and pics/vids.

Let’s see…where to begin. I guess there’s not much to review besides the show since I didn’t do a whole lot else. Besides the boring stuff like delayed flights and packed airports, that’s about the extent of the excitement apart from the show. The Hyatt Harborside is a great hotel with awesome views and a nice pool/sauna/workout area, but expect at least at $20 cab ride to anywhere. Boston didn’t really hit me as a place I’d like to live or visit often though. Nothing against the place, I just didn’t get that “vibe” – but the architecture and buildings were all gorgeous. Anyway, on to the good stuff.

So, soundcheck was at 4 on Saturday so I spent all day Saturday pacing and drinking water. I worked out, sat in the sauna and swam in the pool trying to calm my nerves and take my mind off of it. Why I do this to myself I don’t know. So, I get to soundcheck and the venue is awesome. Very nice and really perfect for the event. We had a few technical difficulties, which carried into the actual performance, but managed in the end. Since we didn’t start soundcheck til 4 and that took til a little after 5, it put me back at the hotel around 5:45 or so and I was supposed to be back and ready to go around 7:45. talk about a mad dash. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten ready so quick in my life. The only thing I didn’t have time to do was my nails. I just said screw it. So, make it back to the club and there’s a good size crowd. I’d probably say there were about 75 people. I’m horrible at guesstimating, but that’s my guess. And for the record, I have to accept responsibility for earlier reports that the venue holds 4000 people, I knew I saw 4000 somewhere, but it’s 4000 sq. feet, not capacity. My bad. Sorry. Anyway, so I go on about 8:30ish and had a few problems with the sound. At soundcheck I thought I had explained the right levels for my mic and the music, but they either forgot or the presets got lost when they blew a circuit. In any event, at times I couldn’t hear myself or really hear the music and so I ended up singing too loud and running out of breath or not really being able to find my place in the song. It was weird, but it is what it is. There was a little feedback here and there, but nothing too bad. After my set, Teri (Gypsy Wild aka Gypsy0033) went on and did an awesome set. She did a few songs acoustically with her son and it was really amazing. Especially her rendition of Doing the Best I Can. Then, Barbara (Timeless Barbara) hit the stage and totally rocked out in her 80’s Stevieness. She was great; especially on How Still My Love. Then, we came back and each did an encore. Barbara did Edge, I did BATB and Teri did SOTM. All of which I think were our best performances of the night. Lastly, we all joined together and sang Bella Donna. This is where the technical glitches were really apparent…bad, bad feedback, one mic didn’t work…just bad. but somehow we managed to really make it work and I think, in spite of the problems, pulled it off and made it special.

The event wasn’t packed…it wasn’t even nearly packed, but in retrospect, it doesn’t matter really because the people that were there were amazing and were having such a good time. There were people from the UK and people that drove 15 HOURS to come see this show. Brian and everyone involved did a great job promoting and trying to peak interest. It was the first annual so there’s room for growth and improvement. Live and learn. I’m just honored and happy to have been at the first. I met so many funny people and people that truly had a great time. Teri and Barbara were so much fun and I’m glad I was able to share the time with them getting to know them and see them perform.

To the lady working the door (wherever/whoever you are) that kept spirits up backstage, thank you! You were hilarious and so much fun. And thanks for the drink tickets and the salicylic acid tips!

Hopefully, I’m not forgetting anything, but if I am, I’ll come back and update.

I had such an excellent time at this. I met a bunch of people from SW at their hotel and followed them to the club. I met Brian and countless others. It was such a fun night. Unfourtunately, I walked in when Jaz was doing Stand Back so I missed most of his performance. Teri was just absolutely amazing. Such a nice lady. Barb was very great as well. The place was very nice. The room was big and spacious. I loved all the Stevie songs they played all night.

Great time!

Please tell me you did the "high ****ing tech!" tirade. :p  Perfect opportunity...

Anyway, sounds like an awesome setlist. I'm looking forward to hearing the vocal arrangement you guys did for "Bella Donna." Was it like the "soft version" demo or the album version?

you know...I actually did say it under my breath.

Bella Donna was mostly like the album version. and it's the only part of my performance I didn't get video of...I just ran out of room on the camera. after BATB, it was all gone. but I know Barbara taped the whole thing. and the sound guy has audio. I have to contact him for it.

I'm hoping to upload all the vids I have tonight. any suggestions as to what site to use? I'd rather not post them for the whole world to see, like on YouTube, but if I have to, then I will.

You can put them on Youtube, but make them private & just post the link here for us. That way nobody doing a general search there can watch it. or, you can make it public but not allow comments. :D

And did I hear that you can upload vids to Photobucket now too?

You can do vids on Photobucket, as long as they're under 5 minutes each.

now I'm getting out of sequence, but I have to post this for Jannie before I go to bed or she'll kill me. towards the end you can really see how the technical difficulties started to show. I couldn't hear myself one minute and then the next I couldn't hear the music...and then there's the feedback. oy. in any event, I think it turned out rather nice. this is my favorite.

I've amassed a collection of them. all of the songs I used were from various karaoke CD's with the exception of RTTG which was EQ'd to "take off" the vocals...though they're still there a bit.

I mean did girls ask about your makeup, or boys who wear makeup? You do know your makeup, though, that's for sure. They were probably mesmerized by your flawless skin, which is actually natural, even though you also wear makeup on it.
seen him? oh yes. oh yes.

girls asked. everyone commented. I wasn't feeling my makeup really that night. you know how you just know when you hit it? well, I didn't feel it, but I guess it came off ok. I was really, really rushed to get ready after the soundcheck. I got ready and back to the venue within an hour and a half I think. record time for me. for sure.

awww. thanks. :xoxo: I do have naturally good skin. knock on wood. I hope I can just maintain it.

I forgot you picked RTTG and FFG, two of my very favorites!!! My pre excitement paid off, you kicked ass. I loved the endish of RTTG, you know, the cool part?
Great choices, great choices for you. I totally would pick those. You've got some great Stevie moves.

BTW, Smallville guy is gay, right? gay gayerson (as my dad would say). I like Lex better anyways. But their homoerotic moments are cheesily priceless. lol.

Yep, as I suspected, your BATB is massive and flawless. That's your song, dude.
In my head, your "signature song". Quite amazing, really. I wish I could've Sharon or Lori'd you on some of these. Mainly BATB. :p That hand, that tragic Stevie BATB hand. It's like watching her, with you and that hand.

I just thought, if I ever performed as Stevie, I'd want to be "Don't Come Around Here No More" Stevie. I think that dance, I could do. Oh yes, that dance.

someone said I look more like a porn star than a Stevie Nicks tribute.

comments on YouTube are really great though so I must have done something right.

Some porn stars can be really hot... Your eye makeup is rockin'. You sounded fab.

yeah, I totally could've used a Sharona on the "sometimes she says....ahhh" part.

yeah, I know. I take it as a compliment. I mean isn't the purpose of a porn star supposed to be someone you'd want to ****? so, um, hello...thanks.

now I'm getting out of sequence, but I have to post this for Jannie before I go to bed or she'll kill me. towards the end you can really see how the technical difficulties started to show. I couldn't hear myself one minute and then the next I couldn't hear the music...and then there's the feedback. oy. in any event, I think it turned out rather nice. this is my favorite.

Sweet. I don't like "I'm trying to change" either. BATB doesn't really need ad libs, it's already perfect.

see? I take all my minions' feelings and thoughts to heart. :) :wavey: :p

if I were a celebrity, my fans would love me 'cause I'd totally do any song they wanted. I've even thought about this ad nauseum. like, I'd have a poll on my official website that allowed users to vote for the setlist and then once voting's over, I'd have a setlist that would please 90% of my fans.

dream on, silly dreamer...right?

That would rock. Hopefully you wouldn't call the fans "minions" on your website.

An excellent call. That's the one and only bad thing about the BATB performance these days.

Changing= strong, dramatic, memorable

Trying to change= weak, lame, kinda pitiful
