Storm Large is the BOMB
I liked her a lot on RS Supernova, but her live performance is out of this world. Tremendous vocal range, fierce storytelling, tremendous stage presence. On TV, I found her theatrics to be tired and "Broadway"-like, but they work perfectly on stage.
I swear, check this woman out if she comes anywhere near you. I'm going again this Thursday to her SF performance. My only complaint: why can't these clubs have more seats? I'm too old to stand for 4+ hours of opening acts, etc.
BTW, Storm did some great covers. All reworked and very clever. Hate to compare to Stevie, but I was thinking how Stevie covers "Rock and Roll" but really does nothing to make it her own, whereas Storm took these following songs and totally claimed them:
White Wedding
Missionary Man
Take A Chance On Me/Dancing Queen (I kid you not)
Tainted Love
Happy Together
P.S. Hi jade, hi goldenbraid. :wavey:

Hi Ricky,
I'll second what you said, it was an awesome performance, I loved the banter b/t songs, it made me laugh alot and wish that other performers would occasionally do a bit more chatting and less singing (sorry but I do own the CD's).
I'll agree with the "covers" analysis, Missionary Man was great!!!!
As for Storm herself she is a really a nice person, she sticks around and talks and signs stuff before and after the show, and actually answers questions:)
Overall if you like singers like Joan Jett, Grace Slick, Chrissie Hynde, Heart or Annie Lennox, you'll LOVE Storm, just don't expect a nice PC performance.
btw:storm does have an offical websitehttp://stormlarge.com/index.htm
PS: hi goldenbraid:wavey:

I'll third what everyone else said about Storm. She's very entertaining and unique. I had some tall people standing in front of me but as long as I could see Storm's face and see her expressions, it was great.
Also, it was really nice to be able to meet another friendly ledgie, Jade. Hopefully we'll see each other again at perhaps a Stevie show. :)
