Okay give it up. I know you have some and you can't hide from the light any longer. I busted a girl on the way into work for it, and she knew she was 100% guilty as soon as she saw the look on my face.

Friends, I'm talking about car singing. Actually more along the lines of performing. Singing, dancing, actions, emotion....the whole bit. We all have a list of a few songs that cause us to temporarily lose our sh*t completely. Whether you can sing or not is irrelevent here. Talent matters not. What matters is that these songs are so great that even the meekest of people can give a balls out performance.

So...out with it. What songs make you bust out the car dancing/singing? Or while showering, grocery shopping, studying, family planning, plotting, etc? I'll start:

Early 80's Madge (Burning Up, Borderline, etc)
Rock & Roll (Preferably the orginal, but I rock it to Heart's version too)
Stand Back (LIB is a good version for the car)
Don't Stop Believing
Anything Motown
and as of last weekend, Whitney's I Wanna Dance with Somebody

Oh I'm a complete and total car singer. I think it might be physically impossible for me to be in a car and NOT sing.

I'll sing to anything and everything I know...and I don't care who sees me, if I get a funny look I just belt it out at whoever is looking at me funny

Some of my favorite car hits:

Def. Like a Prayer...
Time After Time
Goodbye to You
Bohemian Rhapsody
We Are the Champions
Let me Roll it
Lips of an Angel

Ok...there are a lot...I sing. All the time.

I have been singing in the car since I was a kid. The only time I got stopped by a policeman for speeding while singing was to an Elton John song CD. lol I got a warning since I personally knew the policeman from our small town and he was SHOCKED I was going faster than 40 MPH:laugh: I drive like a grandmother which I wasn't at that time:D

On road trips, I always take my Fleetwood Mac and Stevie CD's. My hubby hates it too:xoxo: I am a terrible singer but it makes me happy:D

Ha..I do a watered down version - a road friendly version if you will - a bit of head bobbing...but I've never been into the head-banging thing (though I had a brief period of headbanger wannabe-ism in middle school)...so Bohemian Rhapsody remains an ok car song :D

we are just out there doing our part - saving lives - singing in our cars.

 that's right.

We should demand insurance discounts.

I forgot to mention - if there's nothing good on the radio (common) or I'm sick of cds and didn't bring my mp3 player - I'll sing accapella man!

k - i truly have no shame when it comes to singing in the car. stopped at a light, window wide open. don't care. it makes me happy - and my theory is... is i make someone laugh by doing it, i've improved their day. :p

my list is exhaustive - my current guilty pleasures are:

hips don't lie - shakira (bite me)

sos and pon de replay - rihanna (ditto)

qadukka-i-mayyas - jesse cooke (yup - i wail right along in arabic)

goodbye - patty griffin

all imogen heap - especially goodnight and go and hide and seek

all shins

so many more... basically, i too, can't drive without singing. don't care who's in the passenger seat.

I just got back from an errand and in the car was reminded of another great car tune - Piano Man!!

It also reminded me of an annoying habit I have of singing Weird Al lyrics to songs he's done parodies of when I hear them on the radio (namely American Pie and Lola).

Ah, St. Teresa - a vocal amusement park, often forgotten.
hehehe, The Joker. Doesn't that song just always make you so happy?

k - i truly have no shame when it comes to singing in the car. stopped at a light, window wide open. don't care. it makes me happy - and my theory is... is i make someone laugh by doing it, i've improved their day. :p

my list is exhaustive - my current guilty pleasures are:

hips don't lie - shakira (bite me)

  That's one of mine too...along with Whenever Wherever also by Shakira

Oh God. I'm having flashes of Ledgies in a yellow VW bus...trekking cross country so Jazz can compete in the Little Miss Stevie contest :p

OMG. So funny because it could be true. Jaz - you can do cool photo sigs, I demand you incorporate all of our heads into the Little Miss Sunshine van!

i know! brian deleted it for me, which fixed the problem. i had an HTML ****up in there that was causing the malfunction.

all is right with the world.

Thank God. I thought you did that on purpose to drive me insane.

wait...does no one bust out No More Tears (Enough Is Enough) or The Main Event by La Streisand anymore?

you should see me flying around town then. :wavey:

no more teeeeeEEEEEeeeeaayyyyaaaaaaaahhhhssssss

Where's Strand? :wavey:

goodbye - patty griffin

Oh my, yes. For sure.

OMG. I haven't read anything else but this right now, but today was 1984 on best of set, and I totally voted for The Warrior. We're talking about Scandal Warrior, right? don't make me read this thread....:p
The Warrior is soooo on my ishuffle. It's very inspirational. "Victory is Mi-i-i-i-iyine!!!!" is my favorite part to sing.
Even if you weren't talking about that, that would definitely be hella, hella, in my car, and I'd be singing the shizz out of it. Just like this morning, but in my house.

Carry on.
And no, I don't care that I am two pages late with this reply. Warrior deserves it.

Of course that Warrior. I used to do it during karaoke at my parents' bar - hand gestures & all. I don't have it on my mp3, why did I not rip it from CD? Must rectify that when I get home.

o.k. so this song MAKES me dance. Like, full body dance. In the car. I know people behind me are pissed because my foot comes off the pedal occasionally while dancing. It just has that heavy groove where you have to break it down.
Lean Back-Fat Joe-yeah. I have to throw the seat back and “lean back” LOVE this song.
Get Low-people must think I’m crazy when this song comes on. It’s a full orchestration.

Yes to all of this. My list also includes the entire Doggystyle cd. It ain't no fun if the homies can't have none! Better go ahead and put Dre's Chronic Cd and Regulate by Warren G on my list too. Better yet, any song with a hook by Nate Dogg is great.

Heart-magic man and crazy on you

A lot of people are saying this, along with Barracuda. "Straight On" anyone? I love doing the little "ooh ooh's" at the end.

Pour some sugar on me – my all time favorite song to dance to. Ever.

don't get me wrong, I LOOOOOOOOVE the chronic (that was my first cd!! ) but it's more of something I kick back and "chill" to. Not some big production in the car, ya know? nothin' but a g thang is so smooth. There's no room for getting rowdy

I like straight on, but magic man is and always has been my favorite Heart song. singing, smoking and a good looking "magic man". I'm surprised that's not your favorite  and then crazy on you-just the wail.

Ever? Really?

really. do you KNOW how many times I've danced on top of bars to this song?? yeah, I don't either. i lost count. There are a LOT of songs I like to dance to, etc. But this one never fails to get me up and movin/groovin'. so what is your favorite song to dance to?? oh. We need a new thread. Is there a thread about that? I think there is  (no one put any ghetto sh*t on there, though  )

Me too. What the hell is wrong with us? :p

We are just that cool  I seriously wonder sometimes, though. I guess if there are other people like me, i should be fine.....right??

End of story.
Oh, I can't believe I forgot them! Of course Surrender would be on my list for loud car sing-a-long, and then a bunch more.

*Nostalgia moment: I bough Cheap Trick "Live At Budokan" the import single of Pretenders "Stop Your Sobbing" and Talking Heads "More Songs About Buildings and Food" at the tower records in Westwood, 1979, my first year of high school. Old Old Old.

Ohhh, agreed. AC/DC is love.

I was jammin' to "Car Wheels On A Gravel Road" by Lucinda Williams today. It's not exactly fun, but it is good driving music.

Their songs are just so catchy!

And that is quite a good batch of records. I wish LPs weren't so obsolete anymore.

Tonight, on the way home from the City, I discovered I love to sing along with The Jacksons "Shake Your Body Down"
and also a possible yacht rocks classic, Gerry Rafferty "Right Down the Line". I really love singing with that last one, and I can't explain why.
Another Bad Co. song I could have included, "Rock N' Roll Fantasy"
and put me on the list of "Warrior" sing along-ers. Is that Patty Smythe? Gotta Google, and see.
Let's see, I completely forgot Led Zep, "The Battle of Evermore"

Time for a big road trip!
