I went with straight. I did consider myself a bisexual at one point and I do still find some women attractive and wouldn't be against the idea of being romantically and/or sexually involved with a woman, but overall I prefer men.

And yeah - I HATE when gay or straight people say **** like "come out already" or "pick a side" To that I say, "**** off."

Why people who have been so harshly judged would turn around and just just as judgemental is horrible to me.

Why don't I come out already? Because I happen to be attracted to both men and women. I don't care about gender, for me I choose a person for who they are.

I've had amazing relationships with men and amazing relationships with women. Bisexuality is real and does exist and is much more prevelant than some people think.

Contrary to popular belief it is not chicken ****, nor is it the last stop before gayville...not for everyone. I've been bisexual my whole life - and will continue to be.

80:20. Those aren't very good odds there :p

I've never thought about it - I used to be pretty 50:50 but after being screwed over very badly by some very ****ed up and evil women I swore them off and tried to be mainly straight...but now I'm starting to open myself up again to the possibility of love coming from woman...

So now I'd say I'm at about 60:40 :p

Can I just share a quick story. Last night I went to see a friend for happy hour. Things have been bad at work and I need to talk, etc. Halfway into our first vodka tonic, he is already cruising half the bar. Halfway through the second drink, he is following a couple of guys into the bathroom. It got so bad I overheard one of the guys telling his friends that we was being stalked.

We were supposed to have dinner, but my friend said "I don't think I really want dinner", I'm just gonna hang here by myself. Which I guess meant "get the hell out of here, I'm gonna continue my pointless cruising".

It's times like that when I get down on gay men. In the meantime, I have these amazing dinners with women and even though I'm not sexually attracted to them, I feel attracted in a certain way.

What's my point......

I don't know, but after I got home, I got a text from my friend saying "going home alone".

^Ry,

I can totally relate to your story. I would rather hang out with the ladies from work than hang out with gay men. You can find guys who become really good friends, however. It's painstaking at times trying to find someone to rely on who doesn't want to get down your pants. I would like a gay best friend, but I have yet to find one that doesn't think with his penis.

I've experienced that kind of thing. My social circle has collapsed to nothing over the past 8 or 9 months - I have no friends now except for my boyfriend, and I'm at a loss as to how to make new ones. But I don't think I'd intentionally seek out gay guys as friends; for one thing, the ones I've met don't seem to understand the concept of "platonic friendship." Your story illustrates another reason. "Bros before hos," people!

I am lucky, as I do have a couple of very good gay friends who transcend the whole penis thing. But they are in relationships and therefore completely unavailable except for an occasional dinner at their house.

There's some cool stuff going on in SF, like this group called ActivelyOUT that organizes activities for gay men and is intended to get people together in nonsexual environments just to socialize. I did a museum outing once with them and really enjoyed it. I should do more with them, but sometimes it's hard to show up by yourself not knowing who will be there.

My best friend is gay. When we go out, we have a blast. We can cruise, we can play darts, we can sit in a corner and gossip or we can just go somewhere and watch the Spurs and not say much. We used to have sex a long time ago but realized that we were gonna be better friends than F*** buddies, so that line was drawn.
He's a great guy, cute as can be and keeps ME in my place. I love him.

Three of my closest friends are females. We tell each other EVERYTHING and there are very few secrets within my circle. These ladies are my dinner dates, my concert companions, my shopping tag alongs. There are very few of my male friends that I spend as much time as I do with "my girls".

I wish you and I lived closer..I have a feeling we would be great friends!
Tom & I do get a little to insular sometimes. My gay single friends seen very threatened by our 8 yr relationship..it pushes buttons..because we really are terrific together and very happy. Envy sets in most of the time I have found.
I have close straight guy friends who are now coupled & married. So we end up hanging out with a couple of gay men couples that seem to be working well. I miss having a close male gay friend I can really talk to! You are very special - hang with people that get you and YES..Respect you and your time. That group you mentioned sounds good and WORTH pursuing!!!

or can some one come-out as bisexual?

i don't understand it eithr - but i also don't understand rocket science but when the rocket goes up - i believe.:D

the ten percent bad-mouthing the one percent?:o
how is it chicken**** to go against the grain of both extremes - some straight folks don't understand anything but straight sex - some gays obviously don't understand liking both.

Is it brave to come-out and say you are gay yet not brave to come-out as bi?
I thought the bravery was in the "i am different but i am ok" part.

I have learned that its very hard to find another gay guy to be with when you aren't out of the closet and go to an all boys school. My friends do not suspect a thing. All of my best friends are guys and I am not attracted to them at all, which is why I think I am their friends. I really don't have any girl buddies that gay guys usually have just because, IMO, I come off as straight. Theres this girl thats rubbing up to me and talk that she likes me or so I hear, so thats gunna get awkward fast.

I consider myself straight. I just like guys more. Don't get me wrong, I find certain women very hot, but I consider it more of a physical attraction than an emotional attraction. Like, sure, I'd kiss another girl, but I don't think I could persue a relationship. So, I don't consider myself bi.

I just connect more with guys, physically and emotionally, which is what is the most important to me. I just get along better with them, in general. Girls are a pain in the ass, at least most of the ones I know. And boys are a lot of fun to kiss :wavey:

Fashion bisexuals piss me off, too. I hate that. I know so many girls who made out with other girls and they're like "omg i have teh bi~~" and think they're the ****. I'm not going to say what you are or what you are not, but kissing != your sexuality. Meh, whatever floats your pelvis.

It's becoming more common too - I mean look at Girls Gone Wild - it's all about college girls getting drunk and making out with each other...it's horrid. And only adds to the flakiness of the term "bi"

I know, I know, many here get pissed/annoyed when people blame media for societal woes...but my sister teaches sixth grade and she's caught no less than three different pairs of girls making out because the boys paid them....

When asked where they even though to do that....they almost always say tv...it's sad.

Anyway...I'm completely hypocritical because I am so wary of any woman who claims to be bi, and I have trouble dating them...because I've been screwed over one too many times...the whole "sexual orientation" game gets old after a while....really I'd just like to find someone I connect with who is not a psycho.

Perfect Kinsey 6. Totally Gay.

I have been with the same guy for 12 years now and I know how it feels to have people 'threatened' by a long term relationship. Our single friends aren't accustomed to people with our track record and the couple friends we do have are usually so new into their relationship, they are not very sociable.

I voted myself as bi but like almost every man or woman on here attracted to both sexes, I can't stand the label. And you know, for me, it isn't because I've been told that bisexuality is just the last step before coming out, no...I get told that I'm just experimenting before I end up in a straight relationship permanently. "It's a phase, it's a rebellion," or so most of the people around me would like to believe who aren't in my closest circle of friends. To slightly paraphrase a lovely little gay fluff pic, "But she's a cheerleader!", she can't like women! Well you know, just because the people here can't seem to break their stereotype of what a lesbian or bisexual is certainly doesn't mean that I'm going to suddenly cease being one. To be honest, I'm 70:30 in terms of my attractions...and that 70% favors women.

I couldn't tell what percentages go for me, really! There's just so many different reasons why I feel attracted to someone, and whether I'd like to have a relationship or not. I gave up wondering/worrying about the male-female thing a few years ago. I just know I'll never be completely gay or straight. What's the big deal:laugh:

I have learned that its very hard to find another gay guy to be with when you aren't out of the closet and go to an all boys school. My friends do not suspect a thing. All of my best friends are guys and I am not attracted to them at all, which is why I think I am their friends. I really don't have any girl buddies that gay guys usually have just because, IMO, I come off as straight. Theres this girl thats rubbing up to me and talk that she likes me or so I hear, so thats gunna get awkward fast.

Its. Hard. Being. Gay.

Ryan we should start a club.

Jimmy, it is hard being gay. Not saying it's not hard for other people or as hard as other people, but it's hard. As long as we are oppressed and kept from reaching our full potential and happiness and as along as people like that basketball dude feel like they can spew vitriol at us as a group and suffer minimal consequences, then it's okay to say it is hard. Otherwise, you would be able to be at an all boys school and be out of the closet, find other gay guys to be friends/bf's with, etc.

Things have gotten a lot better. Your generation has it better than my generation, which has it a lot better than the generation before me. Just that fact that you are semi-out and can talk to other gay people on this board is light years better than I had it. I was out when I was 16-17, but I had to sneak into gay bars and my "friends" were 35 year old gay dudes trying to deflower me.

But....it's hard. You should be able to be open with all of your friends and it shouldn't be a big deal to anyone.

Andre

You have a nice, healthy outlook and I do think we would be good friends. :wavey:

You can also attract what you defend against. People get how to treat you..FROM YOU. Friends and lovers. Yes..there are assholes out there.
But - lots of great men too. When I worked on myself...let all my ideas and complaining go...I met Tom. Set your standards high...like attracts like.
You can find plenty of people to tell you otherwise. That is why they are crying in their beer too.

I had a couple of crushes on girls when I was a teenager and in my early 20s, and I clung desperately to those crushes as a sign that I wasn't gay -- that I was "just maybe, hopefully, only bisexual."

When I finally admitted to myself that those crushes were completely devoid of any sexual feelings, and that the sexual feelings I did have were always directed at other guys, I gave up on the Great Bi Hope and accepted the fact that I'm a big ol' 10-on-the-Kinsey-Scale 'mo. :D

Well there's an interesting double standard of sorts with bisexuality and men and women.

For men it's the last stop before gaytown.

For women? It's the last stop before straightown....

At least that's how it seems. Either way - it's annoying.

Its a lot easier said than done. If I came out tomorrow at school it would just be disastrous. I am a very quiet person in real life. I am VERY shy and I hate talking in front of people. Take a deep breath and know you are not alone.
You will find out very quickly who loves you and who your REAL FRIENDS are.
Be glad you found out..now you can focus on strengthening the bonds you have with the people who really do care about you. Think of how free you will be to truly be yourself for the first time. It will only be "disastrous"..if you THINK it will be. You will create it. People get how to treat you..from you.
I wish there would never be any hate towards anyone too. There is also something called self hatred which is actually the worst of all. It keeps people shy and in the corner worrying about what everyone one will do, think and say..while your life slips slowly by....
People in this world need you. We need you to love yourself so that you can be the change. Be the change you want to create. Everytime one of us..gets that..you pave the way for some other kid in a corner...who thinks he can't either. Things are never as "disastrous" as the pictures we paint in our own minds about worst case scenarios. What if you actually became the person you were brought here to be? :)

Straight here. Hope this story helps alittle. I had a longtime friend "come out" to a group of friends and it was kinda funny (now). He hinted that he had something very important to tell us and didn't know how. (He had been married had a kid, divorced...etc). He said he would tell us later. We had no idea what it was. We asked each other if anyone had any idea what was going on, and no one did. He seemed so serious. When he finally told us he was gay, we all sat there and said and?..... He said that was it. We were like. That's it? THANK GOD! we thought you had cancer or were dying or something! It was the biggest "no big deal" big deal he had to go through. He was petrified after knowing each of us for over 20 years on how we would react. None of us could care less. In fact we started teasing him by pointing out cute guys. "Now that you're single how about that guy?" It changed absolutly nothing with these friends.

So your true friends will always be your friends, If they bail on you over this, you don't need them.
