all the chapstick users in the house say HEY!!!!
what kind do you use?
right now i'm using softlips (wtf?) raspberry flavored, with spf 20. it works all right. i certainly don't get the same tingly "it's working" feeling from it that i get from, say, that blue tub kind. you know, the kind with the red cross on it. i used to have burt's bees, but i can't find it. i liked that a lot, but i needed to get some and target didn't have BB.

Hayley? Is that you?
hehehe.
I really love this one that DHC makes, it has the perfect texture, and all the right oils. I use several, though, I'm a lip gloss/chapstick monster. I have one that has sunscreen (Kiss My Face Cranberry Orange) and a couple ones that are perfectly fine sparkly, while also being glossy, and some random ones.
I kind of have a fetish, I buy way too many...

I'm using something like the Raspberry, but I think it's called Crazeberry Chapstick. I never need it May-October. November-April, it's a must have.

not to hijack this thread but... have you tried any of the topical acne treatments? they're far less harsh than accutane. i had a horrible outbreak of cystic acne (yeah sorry - major barf factor), and my doctor said i'd probably have to go on accutane. but i resisted, and she gave me two prescription topical treatments - and they are AMAZING. i use erysol in the morning, and clindoxyl at night. my skin has literally never been so good.

No, no, yeah, I hear the same great things. But haven't tried it, either. My parents have some sort of "Tail and Mane" shampoo that is supposed to be similarly good. For hair, of course.
Howevaaaahhhh....while I would try it, and appreciate it, I submit that other chapsticks have similar beneficial powers.
But sesly, this one that I like is perfectly textured. Smooth, but not gummy. Providing essential oils, but not too oily. Shiny, but not ridiculous. It's like the perfect every occasion lip thing.
Here is the blurb, then the picture. Right now it is two for $11, or one for $7. I swear this stuff is the best textured I've ever felt on my lips. And I've tried many a lip product. Swear, you will feel like your lips are in smoothy lip heaven. No lie. It's like the pie and ice cream of lips.
Downside is I wish it had sunscreen, but I just put my SS on top of it.
Lip service. Free radical neutralizers in olive oil and vitamin E defend against feather line creators and collagen deflators. Lips receive long-lasting moisture, look less rough, and feel undeniably more luscious.

anyone ever notice that if you let your lips get too dry and then you go to put chapstick on, you get this weird pasty stuff on your lips? I hate that...and is why I constantly re-apply every hour or so. plus, I lick my lips a lot so that's an added problem.

On a daily basis, just classic Chapstick. I like the smell for some reason. However, I do have a host of other lip treatments in my purse. I have about 4 Jessica Simpson lip plumping glosses, a set of 6 varying shades of Sephora lip gloss and some Lip Venom. Oh, and I just put on my Burt's Bee's lip balm that I haven't used in forever and this shiznit is burning my lips. Damn! The texture is better than what I remember though.
By the way, while perusing this thread, Jazzy's picture of himself in the "what do you look like" thread keeps popping into my head. You know, the one with the moist lips.

Am I licking my lips too much with it on?
Does anyone else have this issue? Like the taste really really bothers me - and then it makes the inside of my mouth taste/feel really icky.
I've tried several brands and types, this always happens. Yet, it doesn't happen when I use lipstick/gloss....

OMG are they for real???????
It doesn't take a genius to see what The Body Shop is selling in this press release-- sex! They're pretty blatant too, using terms like "gone down" and using colorful ways to describe kisses: smooches, lip smacking, and puckered. And what categories did they choose for their movie list? Longest, Wettest, and Most in One Movie? Longest and Wettest are pretty blatant sexual metaphors. They're going for an orgy or threesome with their Most in One Movie, apparently. In these days of safer sex, do we really need to encourage kids (or even adults) to partake in this kind of activity?
And, what is the deal with "if you're old enough to be kissing (ha! ha!)"? Are they encouraging toddlers and children to start using lip balms and kissing? That sentence is just plain weird!

^^^^ lmfao
my favorite part is self evaluation:
Do you ever use more lip balm than you planned?
Has the use of lip balm interfered with your job?
Is your lip balm use causing conflict with your spouse or family?
Do you feel depressed, guilty, or remorseful after you use lip balm?
Do you use whatever lip balm you have almost continuously until the supply is exhausted?
Do you ever wish that you had never taken that first application or hit of lip balm?
Do you have an obsession to get lip balm when you don't have it?
Are you experiencing financial difficulties due to your lip balm use?
Do you experience an anticipation high just knowing you are about to use lip balm?
Without using lip balm, do you have difficulty sleeping without taking a drink or another drug?
Are you absorbed with the thought of getting coated even while interacting with a friend or loved one?
Have you begun to use lip balm while alone?
Do your lips, nose, or other areas hurt when you avoid Lip Balm?
Do you ever have feelings that people are talking about you or watching you?
Do you use larger doses of lip balm to get the same protection you once experienced?
Have you tried to quit or cut down on your lip balm use only to find that you couldn't?
Have any of your friends or family suggested that you may have a problem?
Have you ever lied to or misled those around you about how much or how often you use?
Do you use lip balm in your car, at work, in the bathroom, on airplanes, or other public places?
Do you occasionally coat heavily after a disappointment, quarrel or rough day?
When under pressure, do you always use more heavily than usual?
Can you handle more lip balm now than when you first started using?
When using with others, do you try to have a few extra coats when they won't know it?
Are there certain occasions when you feel uncomfortable if lip balm is not available?
When you start using, are you in more of a hurry to get the first hit than you used to be?
Are you secretly irritated when friends or family discuss your lip balm use?
Do you usually have a reason for occasions when you use heavily?
Have you tried to control your lip balm use by switching brands or following different plans?
Have you often failed to keep promises about controlling your lip balm?
Have you tried to control your lip balm use by changing jobs or moving?
Do you try to avoid family or friends while using?
Are you having an increasing number of financial and work problems?
Do more people seem to be treating you unfairly without reason?
Have you ever decided to stop using for a week or so, but only lasted for a couple of days?
Do you wish people would mind their own business about your lip balm use--stop telling you what to do?
Is lip balm affecting your reputation?
Do you crave lip balm at a definite time daily?
Does lip balm cause you to have difficulty sleeping?
Have you ever been to a hospital or institution on account of lip balm?
Are you afraid that if you stop using lip balm your work will suffer or you will lose your energy, motivation, or confidence?
Do you spend time with people or in places you otherwise would not be around but for the availability of lip balm?
Have you ever stolen lip balm or money from friends or family?
Can you apply lip balm with one hand?

Chapstick is basically the only constant thing in my beauty routine, besides black mascara. I always use it as a primer for my lipstick, especially if I'm wearing Ruby Woo from MAC, which is an incredibly matte red lipstick. I also used to use chapstick as an eyeshadow primer - I just swept the tube over my lids and put the shadow over it. Of course, I've moved onto MAC's paintpots and Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion, but it still works in a pinch. It also works wonders when coloring hair - just run it along the hairline.
My standbys are still Burt's Bees in the tube, strawberry Chapstick, and that squeeze on Blistex stuff. Love. it.

it's a chapstick/lip balm that my office USED to give away. patterson is a dental supply company and they make this stuff that is to die for. well, not nautural, which translates to "roo poo" but the vanilla is good. I've also heard they have coconut that is good as well.
wow i did not know you were from kentucky. someone sent me some roo poo from kentucky and that is what i use as lip balm.

i can't believe you're still using the same roo poo. didn't i give you some vanilla?

I dunno- I've always got dry lips but I haven't tried anything yet that didn't somehow bother my stomach. I mean, I don't bite off chunks or the chapstick and swallow it or anything. Yet somehow, the stuff must get into my saliva stream and into my stomach and then I feel yucky.
Believe it or not, I sometimes use Bert's Bee's hand salve...on my lips! Just a dab. I have a teeny tiny little tin of it that someone gave me and I was using it on my cracked knuckles and cuticles last winter. One cold day I said "oh why not" and slathered a teensy bit on my lips. It does the trick.
Oh and in the morning when I get out of the shower I use Nivea on my face because my skin gets really dry, and while I'm slathering it on my cheeks and forehead I also mush it over my lips.
I'm so nice and soft in the morning, with kissable soft lips. Small wonder why my colleagues of all sexes aren't lining up outside my cubie for a little kiss. NOT.
