I don't really get the point of this poll. Not that I want to encourage anything but surely it would have been better to have actualy soap operas to choose from rather than the network?

I used to like the night time ones like Dallas,Dynasty,Knot Landing,Flamingo Road,Falcon Crest and Melrose Place. The day time ones drag everything out.
Genaral Hospital ,Texas and Young and the Restless were my faves.

In high school (1993-97) I watched Days of Our Lives, but that was it, and I haven't kept up with it in years. My boyfriend's brother and his housemate both work for a soap opera magazine; they get paid to sit and watch this ****. Why can't I find a gig like that?

I don't watch soaps anymore but in junior high I watched Days and then in high school and college I watch All My Children.

Even though I haven't watched Days in a long time I was pissed to find out that Sami and Lucus were together. That's just wrong! Sami was so mean to him.

I used to watch 'Young And The Restless' and 'Bold And The Beautiful' in my teens and early 20s, but I eventually lost interest in the main storylines on both and haven't bothered to watch since.

I;ve met the lady that plays Hope before. She was really nice, and amazingly beautiful. My mom and sister have met the guy that plays bo. they said that he was really nice too.

How are we defining "soap operas"?

In any case, I never pay any attention to which network a show is on because I really couldn't care less about that. All I care about are characters and content.

That being said, the only shows I watch with any regularity are Grey's Anatomy and House, M.D. but I don't consider them soaps.

She was quite beautiful and a young woman, too, but a terrible actress. I didn't care, of course, and was enthralled by the storyline and liked her anyway. A few years ago I was out of work, and spent some time watching, and found that she had turned out to be a decent actress. I am confused by all of the switches, and plot twists with the John character, and I miss the goofy guy who later went on to play "Q" on Star Trek.

I think you should extend the choices to include PBS, BBC, SCIFI network, ...Etc. There are alot of "soap" like shows out there that are watched. (I happen to like Battlestar Galactica which is soap-like) . :wavey: Also add a "NONE" for those that don't watch them.

if i'm off from work, i will switch on "general hospital" and watch. of course i only get to see it about 3 times a year, but somehow nothing ever changes. waaay waay back i used to also watch "guiding light" because it was on at the same time as GH. i'd switch back and forth, but then they inexplicably moved its time to the morning and then they got rid of every character i ever liked. so i don't watch it anymore, even if i have the chance to.

I really love the first six (maybe seven) seasons of Dallas, up to the point where they brought Bobby back from the dead. It was crap after that, and I have no idea why or how they drug it out for another six or seven seasons. But it was really a great show for the first few years...I should totally get that on DVD, now that I think about it.

NBC, since they show "Passions" - which I used to watch on a regular basis w/Deb.

When I was younger I watched "The Young and the Restless" & "Santa Barbara" along with Mom, I know I'm weird  Mom needed to have daughters to watch the shows with, but since they werent raised by Mom I got that job.

I'm just yer friendly neighborhood metal head, western movie loving, soap opera watching married guy

Of course, My Mom had a bumper sticker in her TA's window that said the following:

"Who shot J.R.? Who gives a ****!"

I don't watch soaps, but my mom always puts CBS on at the crack of ass (read: 6 AM), and we're always so rushed anymore that we forget to turn the TV off. The cats watch it, though. I am being serious. Anyway, I get home from school around 2:45, and as soon as I walk into the living room, there's a lame soap on. I catch the tail end of whatever show is in that slot almost every day.

That's basically the extent of my soap-watching. I usually just throw my books down, plop down on the couch, and catch the Married... With Children and King Of The Hill reruns on FX instead. Soaps are just too much for me. I have no attention span as it is, so for me to keep track of who's having the alien baby? Or what about the midget kid who is just a figment of some old broad's imagination? No thanks. :wavey:

i LOVED dallas. to this day i still love it. i just bought season 6 on dvd last week. i don't think i drew breath or ate until i had watched all the episodes in a row.

the dream season was definitely when dallas jumped the shark. . .there were a few good moments after that, but things started to go downhill fast. pam left, sue ellen left. . .i can't remember half the cast from the last 2 seasons, it was horrible by then.

Y & R - watched it for years! But I like to call it, "The Young and the Horny."

Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki) made a hilarious cameo on "My Name Is Earl" this week. I was pleasantly surprised to see her playing poor, white trash!

Does Nikki ever age? She's seriously looked the same for years.

Oh! I forgot. I used to love Coronation Street. It's getting ridiculous now.

I thought Pam's exit from the show was especially ridiculous. They should've just had her die, instead of that crap about having her run off from the hospital and divorce Bobby (by mail, no less) later on. I think they were entertaining the notion of recasting the character, but damn. I'm probably more offended by that than the "dream season," truth be told.

no argument from me. that was the biggest steaming pile of crap ever served up on the show. they did want victoria principal to come back, but it never worked out. in the final episode they asked her to appear but she said she would only do it if they guaranteed her it was truly the absolute last season of dallas. they producers wouldn't, and so there was no pam in the finale. idiots, all of them!

harley! i almost forgot about her. . .and mallet (sp?) and her career as a cop?

holly was blake's mother and the long time object of roger thorpe's rather questionable affections.
