Sighting of pop star at tattoo parlor comes amid reports of brief rehab stint

LOS ANGELES - Britney Spears appeared in a tattoo parlor in California with her head shaved completely bald.

Video on KABC-TV showed the newly shorn Spears with tiny tattoos on the back of her neck as she sat Friday night for a new tattoo - a pair of red and pink lips.

"She just wanted something real small on her wrist, something dainty," Max Gott, the tattoo artist at Body and Soul in Sherman Oaks, told the TV station. "She got some cute little lips on her wrist."

Derrik Snell, who works at the tattoo parlor, said Spears showed up without notice and stayed for about 90 minutes as about 60 fans, photographers and gawkers gathered outside.

"She seemed fine," Snell said. "I didn't really notice (the hairdo) at first, she had a hood on when she showed up."

The appearance came the same day as reports on TV and Web sites that Spears, who has drawn criticism for her recent partying and sloppy behavior, had briefly checked into rehab.

Larry Rudolph, Spears' manager, could not be reached for comment.

Syndicated entertainment TV show "Extra" first reported that Spears had entered a treatment facility. Celebrity Web site TMZ.com then said the singer had entered a treatment center but had checked out one day later. Neither revealed their sources.

People magazine's Web site, citing "a source," said Spears had gone in and out of rehab, and identified the facility as Eric Clapton's Crossroads center on the Caribbean island of Antigua.

"Access Hollywood" then said the reports were not true, but did not cite a source.

A woman who answered the phone at Crossroads told The Associated Press that she could not confirm or deny anyone's presence at the facility.

Angelique Uram, a Spears fan who stood on the tattoo parlor's sidewalk for Friday night's spectacle, was aghast at the singer's new look.

"We could see her in the mirror, and her head is completely shaved," she told KABC. "It looks terrible."

Police arrived to control the crowd and helped Spears' bodyguards guide her into a waiting SUV, her head covered by a hooded sweat shirt.

I didnt think rehab could cure egomania? Maybe that was why it was temporary

I guess Brit-kneed is jealous with the ANS coverage and wanted to draw attention back to herself.

Next, Paris Hilton to top Brit-kneed, will have a sex change operation and start a love affair with Grover of Sesame Street.

Definitely. It seems as though every day something new and disturbing comes out about Britney's latest escapade. That's not the kind of environment those kids should grow up in. At least with Federline they won't always be thrown into the spotlight with their deranged mom. :distress:

She's definitely unstable, and more important, she's completely stupid. That is a scary combination. She needs to be put into some sort of massive psychiatric therapy if she ever wants a chance of keeping her children. Her family and "friends" should be ashamed of themselves for sitting back and allowing her to unravel like this. I wish no harm on her, and I think she's someone to be pitied.

Update about Britney at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre
It's been all over the gossip blogs, so I'm just updating what I reported last night. I spoke with my relative who works at CSMS. Apparently Britney was checked in late last night by an older male and was diagnosed with something called "Amphetamine psychosis".

I'm not exactly sure what that is, but basically, it's psychosis brought on by use of amphetamines. I don't know what pills or drugs you would take to have that happen, but there's all those rumors she does a lot of ecstasy and prescription medication.

From wikipedia: Amphetamine psychosis is a form of psychosis which can result from amphetamine or methamphetamine use. Amphetamine psychosis can include delusions, hallucinations and thought disorder. Hallucinations are frequently reported in chronic amphetamine users, with over 80% of users reporting the presence of hallucinatory experiences, typically as visual or auditory experiences. Delusions, paranoia, fears about persecution, hyperactivity and panic are also reported as the most common features.

She wasn't supposed to leave but something happened, she had some kind of outburst, was very paranoid, and they let her go, and have been involved with her today, but not at the hospital (at her home? at a clinic?).

If I find out anything else, I'll update.

AHL team offers Spears 'stress-free' getaway

Syracuse Crunch proposes free trip to watch game for troubled, bald singer

NEW YORK - The Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League have offered Britney Spears a quiet weekend getaway by extending to the troubled pop singer an all-expenses-paid trip to snow bound northern New York.

"The team and community want to provide Britney Spears with a stress-free environment and the chance to experience a high level of hockey," said Crunch president Howard Dolgon.

"In addition to being 3,000 miles away from Hollywood , Syracuse is light years away from that pretentious environment.

"There won't be paparazzi within 100 miles."

Spears, who has grabbed headlines with her wild behaviour since splitting from husband Kevin Federline, was in the glare of the media spotlight again at the weekend by shaving her head and getting another tattoo.

The Crunch believes Syracuse would provide the perfect escape for Spears with the city still digging out from a storm that dumped as much as eight feet of snow on upper New York.

The Crunch is also offering any woman who shaves her head a free ticket to their Feb. 24 game against the Manitoba Moose.

If Spears accepts the Crunch's invitation, each member of the club's front office staff will also shave their heads.

Britney Spears Lawyers Up
Posted Feb 21st 2007 5:20PM by TMZ Staff
Filed under: Celebrity Justice, Britney Spears

Britney Spears has lawyered up again -- this time, she met with the lawyer who represented Mel Gibson in his DUI case.

Sources say Spears -- wearing a blonde wig -- went this morning to meet with Blair Berk, a prominent criminal defense lawyer whose roster of clients includes Lindsay Lohan, Halle Berry, Tracy Morgan and others.

We do not know why Spears chose to meet with Berk, although it's unlikely it has anything to do with her divorce. In her divorce case, Spears is repped by disso-queen Laura Wasser.

Spears could have met with Berk on a civil matter, as Berk handles both civil and criminal matters. Interestingly, Berk once repped Reese Witherspoon in her battle with hard-driving paparazzi. It's possible Spears went to Berk for similar reasons

Kevin Federline to go to court Thursday

http://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/Music/02/21/britneyspears.rehab.ap/index.html

MALIBU, California (AP) -- As Britney Spears was reportedly checking out of a drug rehabilitation center for the second time in a week, her estranged husband was making plans to go to court amid a custody dispute over their two children.

Kevin Federline and his lawyer were scheduled to appear at a downtown courthouse Thursday for an emergency hearing, Superior Court spokesman Allan Parachini told The Associated Press.

"Our best information is he will be here; she won't," said Parachini. "But anything is possible."

It was not known what issue Federline planned to raise.

Federline and Spears have two sons, 5-month-old Jayden James and 17-month-old Sean Preston.

Federline filed papers seeking spousal support and sole custody of the children after Spears sought to end their two-year marriage last November.

A temporary court order issued February 1 granted the couple joint custody until the end of this month.

Parachini said Federline's lawyer would try to convince a Superior Court commissioner that the matter is urgent enough to be handled quickly.

Parachini said Federline's lawyer would try to convince a Superior Court commissioner that the matter is urgent enough to be handled quickly.

Those children should not be in her custody at this time.

to be honest, its beginning to sound like they weren't much to begin with  the latest on perez hilton is that she would hold them each for ten minutes and then say, "okay i'm done" -- lovely. she needs to get herself some long-term help if not for herself, then for those babies.

I heard tonight on Keith Olberman (I think) that the reason she shaved her head was because Federline was going to force her to have her hair tested to prove her drug use and he was going to go to court to get it done. He's totally serious about taking those kids from her. And it really could explain why she'd do it the way she did as opposed to privately in her hotel. Like doing it right in his face.

Seriously. He is looking for the child support he would get if he got the kids. Sorry Kev but you are going to have to show that Brit is a threat to the children to get custody. Just because she is down on herself right now does NOT mean she is neglectful or abusing the kids. She may be partying at night and leaving them with a nanny but that does not make her legally unfit. She is 24 years old and obviously F'd up right now...taking her kids away would only **** her up even more. I read that each child has their own nanny so she is making sure they are cared for when she is out. It goes without saying that she appears to need some kind of help right now...she is basically crying out for attention.

As for whether Brit spends time with her kids...she was photographed all over creation with Sean Preston. Shopping with him, pushing his stroller, driving with him on her lap. Maybe that has changed in recent weeks/months but she did have her kid with her alot in photos. It is strange that the baby, Jaden, has not been seen since his birth.

i think his past actions proove that he's not of the best character but then again, i think its possible that over the course of the past few years, he may have matured a bit because he had no other alternative. i feel like he's certainly the more stable presence in their lives and since he is around, there's no way that britney's divorced parents would be the ones to end up with custody.

i'm not sure how much contact kfed had as of late with the children he had with shar jackson, but i do remember in the beginning of his relationship with britney, he had those children an awful lot (of course, i suspect that was a publicity stunt manipulated by britney's "people"). point being, he's not the one i see every day in pictures puking on himself, dancing with near nothing on at 3am, coming out of a car and flashing his stuff -- he may, in fact, be a better father than we give him credit for because let's face it, apart from his relationship with britney, we don't really know him.

i'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt in this case.

i think it's another example of having too much too soon and nobody around to keep her grounded -- everyone seemingly had their head in the clouds. the family clearly rode the britney train for all it was worth with their mansion in louisiana, her brothers loft in nyc (i'm going to go ahead and assume he didn't pay for that at all), her sisters acting career, etc.

Reports: Britney Spears Back in Rehab; Hearing Canceled; Spears' Dad Talks to FOX
Thursday , February 22, 2007

Britney Spears checked into rehab Thursday for the third time in two weeks, reports say.

Meanwhile, the emergency hearing that her soon-to-be ex-husband Kevin Federline scheduled for Thursday has been canceled.

Spears returned to the Promises treatment center in Malibu, Calif., and there is video of the star entering the center with her mother, Lynne Spears, the entertainment television show “Extra” reported.

Earlier, Spears' father told FOX News that the troubled pop princess is "a sick little girl ... we're just trying to take care of her."

Jamie Spears, speaking Thursday from his Louisiana home, also told FOX News' Lisa Bernhard that he did not want to comment on the specifics of Spears' current situation. He added that the problems with Spears are "not about what other people think," and that he and Spears' mom are "concerned about our daughter."

Federline is also concerned for Spears, and wants her to get the help she is now seeking, sources told TMZ.com.

X17online.com is reporting that Spears went to Federline’s house Wednesday night. Their two young sons were inside the house, and Federline would not let Spears inside. Spears then turned on the cameramen outside the home flailing her arms and hitting the cameras.

Jamie Spears told FOX News Thursday that Federline and his lawyer were not scheduled to appear Thursday at an emergency hearing in family law court, as Superior Court spokesman Allan Parachini had said.

Parachini later issued an update: "A lawyer has called the bailiff and indicated nothing is going to happen today," he said. He identified the lawyer as Mark Vincent Kaplan, who represents Federline.

Kaplan had contacted the court on Wednesday and asked for the appearance. No explanation was given for the cancellation.

"Kevin continues to be a very focused father with his children with hands-on management," said a statement from Kaplan, read by his publicist Michael Sands.

Before the hearing was canceled, Parachini said it was not known what issue the 28-year-old aspiring rapper planned to raise, though the former couple are in a custody dispute over their two children.

"Our best information is he will be here; she won't," Parachini said. "But anything is possible."

Federline sought spousal support and sole custody of Jayden James, 5 months, and Sean Preston, 17 months, after Spears moved to end their two-year marriage in November, but a temporary order issued Feb. 1 granted joint custody through this month.

The hearing comes amid increasingly bizarre behavior by Spears, which culminated with her reportedly checking into and out of two rehab centers in a week and shaving her head bald on Friday.

Manager Larry Rudolph issued a brief statement Tuesday confirming the 25-year-old pop star had entered rehab.

Spears left the Promises Malibu Treatment Center on Wednesday, according to "The Insider" TV news magazine, less than a day after arriving. The center specializes in treating drug and alcohol abuse.

Last week, she reportedly sought treatment at a center in the Caribbean but also checked out after a day.

The next day, she arrived at a San Fernando Valley hair salon, grabbed an electric razor and shaved her head bald. Afterward, she visited a tattoo parlor, where she had a pair of red-and-pink lips inked onto her wrist. Then she went out clubbing with friends before apparently checking into Promises.

In public again Wednesday, Spears attempted to keep a low profile, but TMZ posted video of her wearing a wig and leaving what it said was a lawyer's office.

Whether her recent behavior will damage her recording career is hard to say, said Vibe magazine music editor Jon Caramanica.

Spears, whose 1999 debut album "... Baby One More Time," sold more than 13 million copies, hasn't released a new album since 2003. Before her troubles began she had promised one this year, and Caramanica suggested that might be a good outlet to address what she's going through.

"I think the best thing she could do is make an album that engages with this subject matter in some way," he said. "Not only to have a good album but to have an album that's a declaration of emotional health."

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

The funny thing about that is that they don't necessarily need hair from the head to do the test, unless they're trying to determine what drugs have been done long-term. To prove short-term use, hair from anywhere on the body can be used.

I feel bad for Brit. Yeah, she's dumb. Obviously. And troubled. If she dropped dead like ANS, there'd be a thread here talking about how sad the whole thing was.

Pity killing photographers isn't legal. I would have paid good money to see her gun down a row of those motherf*ucker paparazzi that chase her everywhere she goes. They'd deserve it. I've been on set with her and it defies description. She's stalked like an animal. Each one of them oughta got one of those umbrellas up their keister. I suppose she doesn't have to make such a spectacle of herself and go out so much, but for god's sake she is truly under seige. She cannot live anything remotely resembling a normal life. Anyone would snap under those conditions. Even without the rest of her ****, anyone would snap. I'd be up on murder charges if I were in her position, no doubt about it. while I do agree, I have no sympathy for celebrities in that respect. maybe with Britney it's a little different since she's been doing this since she was little, but it's the life you choose. paparazzi comes with the territory. I don't think Justin and Christina have the papparazzi following Britney does...not to that level anyway...it seems they're really really hounding her...maybe I'm wrong - and again, I know it comes with the territory but there's gotta be a limit. no speed limit, this is the fast lane.

Britney is hounded because that's the card she has played. she's been a media darling and used media to create the megastar she is. you can't just turn it on and turn it off like that. Christina and Justin apparently understand how to use the media and manage themselves better than Britney does I guess.

reminds me of when I saw a clip of Jessica Simpson in a mall trying to shop and she starting bitching because of all the people in the mall following her and taking pictures. she said something and I can't remember what, but it was something really mean and stupid. I lost a lot of respect for her, not that I had a ton to start with. I thought, you know these people are the reason you're able to shop and have all the nice things you have.

I mean that paparazzi feel authorized to do whatever they want because there's a huge request from the public to know everything about celebrities, especially about their weaknesses. It's like the veil torn away by Judi Garland's face in A star is born, everyone feel the right to know, comment, laugh, feel better because someone's who's richer and privileged is suffering. It's become a global, compulsive activity to stay there to watch every second of famous people's falls, or dissect their love life ... even when this attitude causes one of the biggest idols' death (like in Princess Diana's case). And it's done without any sense of guilt, because you know, they're famous...

It's become a global, compulsive activity to stay there to watch every second of famous people's falls, or dissect their love life, ... even when this attitude cause strangely, one of the biggest idols' death (like in Princess Diana's case). And it's done without any sense of guilt, because you know, they're famous...

ok, I see.

now, I do not think that putting their life in jeopardy (although I'm sure exactly what "putting their life in jeopardy" is, is debateable) is ok or touching them is ok. just to make that clear.

while I do agree, I have no sympathy for celebrities in that respect. maybe with Britney it's a little different since she's been doing this since she was little, but it's the life you choose. paparazzi comes with the territory. I can't stand the whole "just leave me alone" bit...you want to be famous, this is the price that you pay.

look at Christina and Justin...they've managed. while Christina has had her fair share of fashion dont's, both she and Justin seem to have a handle on their "world" -

Well when there are a dozen SUVs parked outside your house monitoring your every move 24/7 and you have to hire armed guards outside your house, you might tend to disagree. As far as those two other singers you mentioned go, tabloids don't pay that much for their pictures so they aren't preyed upon the same way.

I just have a different attitude, having been caught in the middle of it. Those bastards are mean, merciless, chase you down the freeway, run red lights. They stop at nothing. No one deserves that. And its kind of a new phenomenon, that extreme pursuit. Didn't happen to Stevie. She was just as outta control in her day. And if it did, imagine the uproar that would ensue here. The talk about how she is an artist and a human being who needs respect and privacy. It'd be a whole different dialogue. And Brit's not really bitching about it. I think she had a hint of what things might be like. I'm bitching about it. I think it sucks.

very true.

I'm not saying some don't cross the line or that everything and anything they do is kosher, I'm just saying I find it hard to feel bad for anyone that get the fame they desire and then want to be "left alone" - not just specifically Britney.
